  • Durmitor National Park, Montenegro
  • Holiday in Montenegro Day 10 . I struggled to find decent pictures in our phones and go pro to share for our last day which was so eventful. . We drove up north from Kotor to Zablak and visited the Durmitor National park. Beautiful twin lakes and 90 minutes hike. As we were about to leave, it started to rain. . From Zablak, we headed to Scepan Polje which is Bosnia and Herzegovina border. Our stay was in the wilderness. Google maps showed up a shortcut via P14 Sedlo Pass Route. Said to be most scenic, paranomic road to drive on, and also dangerous as it's very narrow, 1 lane road. The road wound its way up to Mt. Sedlo and then Bobotov peak (2500 mt). So we're driving on the peak, narrow road and everything else covered in clouds and our views blurred by heavy rain. That's 0 for scenic, 10 for dangerous but 100 for adrelanine rush and adventure. . We headed up to Tara canyon for rafting in between the hills of Montenegro on one side and Bosnia on the other. This was an amazing experience. We had a lot stop in Bosnia to sip some beers and then Manu jumped off a cliff (water was super cold). . 3 hours rafting, swimming in the river, and lunch later, we headed to Podgorica to have a quiet day and then flew back here. . For anyone traveling to Montenegro, I highly recommend our Day 10 itinerary to be included. . . . #montenegro #crnagora #budva #kotor #podgorica #mu #travel #i #tivat #serbia #srbija #beograd #bosnia #balkan #croatia #europe #visitmontenegro #sea #photography #nature #love #bar #ulcinj #kotormontenegro #indiantraveller #travelblog

    Holiday in Montenegro - Day 8 & 9
.
From Tivat, we headed to Kotor bay and just a little ahead of Kotor, we had our stay in a beautiful, quaint boutique hotel, just by the ria. It opened right at the gravel beach where we sipped beers and ciders, hogged on freshly plucked raspberry, stayed in the water for hours. .
On day 8, and we drove to Perast, another old town with islets holding up church - Our Lady of the Rocks.
.
On day 9, we hiked the city walls of Kotor Fortress. This hike zig zags up the mountain and within 10 minutes, we could see beautiful views of the Kotor bay area. It was hot, the sun wasn't settling at 5pm, the hike is tiresome even for the fittest of the folks who climb up. We were drenched in sweat but kept climbing up the ruins of the ladder - around 1500 steps and climbing 1925 feet. At the top, we were rewarded with brilliant views. .
Both days, we spent the evening in Kotor old town, enjoying love street music, food and historical ambience.

    Holiday in Montenegro Day 4
.
From Podgorica, we headed to Virpazar for a boat cruise in Lake Skadar. Montenegro is a treat for bird watchers - out of 550 species found in Europe, 300 of them are seen in Montenegro. The boat cruise was very scenic and we spotted a many different birds during the cruise. Finally concluded the cruise by dipping in the lakeband taking a swim.
.
A fine Lunch later, we headed to a village side in Limljani. The house was amidst greenery. We spent the day plucking berries, strolling in their garden. Marjana, our host, cooked us an authentic Serbian dinner. And we tried a few of their homemade wine + Rakija.
.
It was such a fantastic experience. Her son, Stefan showed us around the village. A 500 years old church almost on ruins but still functional. Old school in ruins, met their neighbours. Our language barrier was also enjoyable. We learnt some Serbian words (Živeli - cheers)
.
Next morning we decided to bathe in the spring water (very cold, but recommended) and headed to next destination.

Holiday in Montenegro - Day 3
.
We landed in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro in morning. We take a day off to relax, have a quite day, soak the local life. By the way, the Montenegrans are stereotyped as lazy and nap loving people so we really did live a locals life. We cooked our lunch and mostly napped.
.
In evening we took a stroll in the city, befriended a terrier named Nicca and had a couple of drinks in the city center.
.
The city has a unique undiscovered feel, excited to explore the rest of country. .

    Holiday in Montenegro Day 2
.
Our second day and the last one in Istanbul. We decided to go for a cultural walking tour with a local. We visited an old cistern, Suleymaniye mosque, visited the 'oh-so-crowded' Bazaar and Spice market, walked in localities with cultural and historical significance. All this while our guide told so many stories from the Ottoman times and some dating back to Roman times. Towards the end of the walk, I decided to try a street food called Midye Dolma (stuffed Mussels).
.
In the evening we went to a Hamam (Turkish bath) place. This one was established in 1400s. Hamam is not a spa - the idea is to cleanse body so it involves scrubbing, cleaning with soap and then bathing. And it was quite an experience.
.
Picked a root top restaurant for dinner with perfect music and wine. .
We are not big fans of visiting big cities but Istanbul was different. The city is so full of life. People are so friendly and do not fail to put a smile on your face. .
We had to catch a bus to airport at 5 am. We crossed Taksim Square and it didn't even feel like 5am there. I guess their crazy Saturday night has no end time.
.
Absolutely loved Istanbul and will have to do justice to Turkey as a Traveller. So much to explore and experience.

Holiday in Montenegro - Day 1
.
Enroute Montenegro, we decided to spend 2 days in Istanbul. Reached at night and tucked ourselves in early in a cosy Airbnb in Taksim, the heart of city.
.
So Day 1 began with the mandatory Bosphorus Cruise. Bosphorus is a 32 km long strait winding between two continents - the European and Asian side of Istanbul. The cruise has wonderful incomparable views full of nature and history. Cruising on to one of the quaintest quays along the shore, we stopped for lunch in a pretty village. .
It was Friday night so we headed to Istiklal Caddesi, to check how the Turkish nightlife is. And wow, it just never stops. We hopped on from bars to bars. People are so friendly and fun loving. Couple of girls in a bar which had live music started dancing and I joined them. Moments later we took our party to the street and started dancing to Tunes of local music. Oh what a night! @manutyagi1 climbed onto the stage and the band played Livin la vida Loca to which he sang.
Finally we forced ourselves to return at 4 am. .

Maggie's 1st Birthday celebrations. I came back home from work and baked a marble cake for humans and a carrot apple cake for dogs. Fun part of decorating the doggo cake with little bone shaped biscuits. Also invited couple of dogs in neighborhood and their parents for some beers 🍻
.
Sometimes I look at Maggie, she's so pretty and smart and listens to us now, very responsive and expressive ( though also very very naughty), I can't imagine she would have been on the streets if @pooch_tales had not taken the initiative to get her adopted. .
@manutyagi1 and I feel so happy to be her pet parents, to pamper her and play with her. Happy Birthday little girl! .
P.S. Maggie's pool party is on Saturday at @pethomeboarding
