@masterskaia.tvorchestva
Я не бросила🤗 .

Höhner are probably more famous for their harmonicas, accordions and kazoos than they are for their guitars, but if you’re prepared to have a look through the murky depths of the classifieds, hock shops, Facebook Marketplace and eBay, you’ll find a golden gittern that’ll do ya proud with any of their Professional series models.

Through the 80s and 90s my amigo Alan Entwistle and co. offered Strat-a-likes, ES-335 killers and this absolutely sweet/radical/bodacious/tubular LP Custom style guitar. Even his Royal Purpleness, Prince, who could click his fingers for any guitar on Earth was a huge fan of their now cult Höhner MadCat Tele style guitar. Which weirdly spawned a continuing legion of copies...of a copy guitar.

This is a lefty Höhner L59. The ‘59’ misnomer conjures up visions of a Holy Grail American single cut that fans of classic rock and the denim tuxedo have fetishised to mad money levels.
This L59 is aesthetically a bit more along the lines of a Custom; with the overload of multi-ply binding and black plastics. The flame on that maple top is d e e p a n d s h i m m e r y ✨ and the back is a pretty cool mineral streaked slab of maple too. There’s a hefty chunk of mahogany in the equation, which from the side looks like some kind of excellent cheesecake(wha?). The neck is a two-piece mahogany baseball bat that’ll sit comfy and not wreck your hands. Pickups wise, these came stock with Kent Armstrong designed ‘Sky’ pickups, the neck one is dead as disco and the bridge one sounds typically muffled but an upgrade down the line to a pair of gold ‘bucker sized P90s (other suggestions welcome) and some more road-ready wiring has me daydreaming.
Aside from these easy upgrades, I’ll probably go consult the Box O’Parts & Bespoke Procrastination for a black pickguard and some gold speed knobs.
It’s garish as hell and to some might evoke cringe-inducing macho pentatonic marathons but to me I see visions of a lute that’ll evoke Devo’s Bob2 and The Stooges James Williamson. Best of all, this solid mod-platform cost the same as what some of the ‘burst dreamers spend on repro pickup rings.

To hell with what the headstock says, bang a gong and... 💥
