In September 1971, we ran a feature on the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson. Here’s how our writer, James E. Serven, described the place: “The moment one steps through the doorway he is aware that this is the home of western people vitally interested in cattle, horses and products of the land. The panelled walls of the main dining area are lined with photographs of important westerners, prize-winning cattle, famous horses and other pictorial features related to western history, along with oil painting by western artists. There is a unique iron grille made from horseshoes, and branding irons from many ranches line the heavy overhead beams. Other rooms have an equally interesting decor.” BTW, if you haven’t been, it’s still around. #tucson #arizona #history #arizonahighways #travel #magazine @visittucson @visit_arizona #throwbackthursday #1971 #tbt
