ARK offers insight into the hard work and dedication that architects in our company go through in order to bring meaningful design to our clients. Here are a collection of images detailing the Maxim's Centre.  Located at 17 Cheung Shun Street, Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
If you would like to see more of our projects or contact us, please visit our website at: ark.com.hk

The design of the Maxim's Centre aims to find a new expression of high rise office tower in 21st century that can expresses the corporate culture of Maxim’s which is grounded in tradition while forward thinking at the same time. The building form is fundamentally a generic rectangular volume with rounded corners to express the continuation of surface and space. With detail manipulation of cutting and pushing, the façade is modulated to give the building a dynamic visual movement. The simple “cut” and “shift” expression on the façade was achieved with William Liu's double split cantilevered ring beam idea, further developed by ARK and the engineers.

Editor note: This stuff is not getting any easier. Kudos to @unstudios for making their instagram page look so easy.

Rork Projects transformed and modernised The University of Queensland's monumental Duhig Library to reflect its status as a world class education and research centre.
The Duhig Library has been a scholarly centre of the University of Queensland since it was opened in 1973.
Back then it was designed as a traditional book repository library, but over the last few years most of its 2.17 million books have been digitised and archived off site.
Refurbished over the years, the time had come for a major upgrade to stay at the forefront of contemporary education and research needs.
The Library is now a welcoming, engaging and accessible research and learning space, with a focus on comfort, flexibility and diverse possibilities.
The original entrance has been reopened creating a valued connection between the outside and updated study areas.
Now renamed “Central Library”, it is the largest research library in Queensland, providing the optimal environment for the nation’s current and future research, innovation and development.
The statement purple glazing pays tribute to the original architect (Robin Gibson), complementing the other materials which reference the original colour palette.
At Rork Projects we believe in the transformative power of education (more on that later!) so we are thrilled to be the company of choice for leading tertiary institutions including University of Canberra, University of Queensland, TAFE Logan and Griffith University.
Client: @uniofqld
Project partners : @wilsonarchitects.au, @woodandgrieve and Bornhorst & Ward Consulting Engineers

FUJIWARA YOSHI
Japanese Restaurant by Sergey Makhno Architects
Area: 800 m²
Materials: wood, travertine
City: Kyiv, Ukraine
Year: 2018
Architects: Sergey Makhno, Illia Tovstonog
Company: Sergey Makhno Architects
Photo: Andrey Avdeenko

The labyrinth stretches past the terrace-garden. Panoramic windows fill it with a flood of daylight.
Author's lighting by Makhno floats underneath the black ceiling: the minimalist Gemini, the laconic ceramic Runa,
and if you look into the Lakuna lamps, you will see Japan itself. Floor lamps, made in the form of the chasen (a whisk for matcha tea), sow tender light directly to the guests' plates.

The garden throws the shadows at the sitting area. Catch one or two, when you are around. The alley of bonsai trees brought from a small town near Tokyo leads to sea-life and freshwater aquariums with a shamelessly bulky table for tuna processing behind

Instead of the ordinary lighting, there are chimneys in one tatami-room, and a plump copper flower in another.
They can tell you about the sun hiding behind the roofs in the Japanese gardens.
