    Our Story: CommunaFarm·
Sunday, August 25, 2019·

Three years ago, in 2016, we purchased a Mango farm on the outskirts of Bengaluru, India. We weren’t quiet sure how we’d make use of the land and were novices at best when it came to farming. Nonetheless, we knew that this escape amidst was something special. At first we constructed a small farm house using old shipping containers. Rugged and robust, it serves as our base every time we are at CommunaFarm. Shortly after, we began constructing a home stay and a conference room, because we wanted people to visit us and share experiences together with like-minded people. As of this post, the two buildings are still under construction.
About two years ago, in 2017, we began farming more seriously. We had been enjoying the fruits of the 300 odd mango trees and we were becoming more confident in our techniques to grow organically. We planted turmeric, lemons and created vegetable matrices, a concept we learnt from a Californian farmer and out our skills to the test. To our delight, we harvested a 100 kilos of turmeric the following year and began sustaining our family with vegetables, while making optimum use of our space.
This year, we collaborated with a school in a nearby village to supply vegetables on a weekly basis. You can find updates on our harvests on our page. However, we also realized that we alone cannot maintain such a large property without huge investment. So we created CommunaFarm.
CommunaFarm is founded on the principle of the win-win-win scenario:
Win 1: The land is put to use.
Win 2: You get to experience a full life on the farm and reap its benefits at your convenience.
Win 3: You get to meet like minded people, make new friends go green in a exciting new way!
This is our story so far. Stay tuned to our page to keep learning more about our collective journey!
Sincerely,
The CommunaFarm Team
