@frenchiesbrewery Lola Apricot Saison. Well it’s definitely a saison, but I don’t get the fruit side of it. It was also highly carbonated on the pour, that took me by surprise.
It’s a good saison, and another winner for the canvent just not as described which is a pity.

@mr.reebs got me all fired up with his post yesterday about this beer and then today @mr.krets drops me a care package containing a couple of these gems. Just as a side note, if you aren’t familiar with either of those guys, go check them out. Good guys! Now, let’s check out this new @electricbrewingco beer. Back before the Electric hype was in full swing, I used to grab Control Track by the cases. A DDH DIPA with Galaxy and Citra hops that checked in at 8.4% and was tropical madness. Thick and creamy, doughy and fluffy, it was the thing of dreams. Although Hallucinations Of Disordered Minds is a single IPA, I have to say this beer rekindled my Control Track memories. Pop the can and the color is pure magic. Pale yellow, straw yellow, muted yellow. Call it what you will. It’s close to a perfect hazy beer color. The head is robust and full, bright white and stays for a while. On the nose, the hops blast your nostrils (which I absolutely love) along with tropical fruit, passion fruit, pineapple and a touch of pine. Gets the salivary glands squirting. Soft and fluffy in the mouth, smooth and creamy, velvety and pillowy, @electricbrewingco has this one dialed in. Pineapple, passion fruit, peaches, bananas and berries. You also get some mangos, but the show stopper here is the hoppiness. It’s insane. Hoppy on the tongue, hop bite on the swallow and even hop burps. I love the hoppy beers and this one is crazy good. For a single IPA, the amount of flavor, body and overall experience of this beer ranks right up there with many DIPAs. I know that Electric doesn’t rehash many of their beers, but Justen and crew should consider canning this one again. Simply put, this is one of the finest single IPAs I’ve had in a long, long time and the best single I’ve had from Electric. I know everyone loves the super high octane TIPAs, but I’ll leave those to the big chugging dogs like @mannyfresco34 and @lunch__lady. Fill my fridge with Hallucinations Of Disordered Minds and I’ll be a very happy man.

Nose is citrusy. Taste is fruity, citrusy, with orange and peach notes. Hoppy, grassy, with a mild bitterness finish. Smooth with a great mouthfeel.

My experience with dark ales has been to expect a fairly simple beer. A dark ale should be malty, dark of course and probably not a lot else. The Blinker delivers as expected with buckets of bitter malt, and not a lot else. Personally, I didn’t love how bitter it was, but that really is subjective. It’s a simple beer that will get the job done if you’re in to bitter malt.

Not sure how I've gone this long without mentioning @jailbreakbrewco's #BigPunisher #DoubleIPA. This is one of my favorite beers and I consider myself fortunate to have had it so many times because it's local. I remember it coming out while I was working at a beer bar in #BethesdaMD back in 2017 (really Rockville) but it dissappeared for a while until I saw back in stores earlier this year. It's everything you want from an #ImperialIPA, a hop bomb with that malt backbone to give it a perfect mouth feel. I can't ignore that it's named after the greatest latino rapper of all time, so here's a #choicequote "Ayo I shatter dreams like Jordan/ assault and batter your team/ your squadron will be barred from rap like Adam & Eve from the garden/ I'm carving my initials on your forehead/ so every night before bed you'll see the *BP* shine off the board head"

Carwyn Canvent Day 6 - 'Lola' Apricot Saison from @frenchiesbb.
3.5% ABV, Rosebery, New South Wales
This wheat Saison pours clear with a vigorous head. Nice dry taste, and low ABV which makes this great for warm weather. I must admit that I lost the Apricot flavours somewhere, but foot Saison nonetheless. 🍑
Seeing as everyone else is doing it...
Was incredibly difficult to narrow this down to 9, and some excellent beers have missed the cut (some due to recency bias, others so as not to make it too heavy on certain breweries).
@wylam_brewery Greenbutt Skunk I think takes the overall number 1 spot (another can of this is en route to double check). A fantastic beer.
Narrowing down @northbrewco was probably the hardest job of the lot, the Triple Fruited Gose with @browarstumostow was probably the pick of a very good bunch and the @jakobslandbrewers DIPA was so good I wish I got more, though I could’ve easily made a top 9 of just North beers.
@verdantbrew stormed in with an old favourite in Fruit Car Sight Exhibition and a relatively newer one, Five AM, a collab with @collectivebrew. A lot of people would’ve plumped for Putty and whilst that is an excellent beer it’s been almost a year since I had it so the aforementioned recency bias has come in to play.
@cloudwaterbrew feature with Immeasurable Personal Acceptance, a straight up Nelson-bomb, my favourite hop used to perfection alongside their @monkishbrewing Doggo collab, Cloudwater, for me, make the best TIPAs on this side of the pond and whilst they’re not always great, when they get them right they’re damn near unbeatable.
It was a bit of a toss up for @trackbrewingco with 10ft & Rising just missing out to the excellent Uzon, a collab with @zagovorbrewery that pushed the boundaries in what a fruited gose could offer and last, but certainly not least, my Most Improved Brewery of the year; @pressuredropbrw Understanding Whole Systems, a superb all-Citra DIPA.
You might notice a lack of @deyabrewery in the table and whilst they’ve made some stunning beers this year (Glue was unfortunate to miss out), none were on the level of these however they are probably the Most Consistent UK brewery in my eyes, very rarely do they release a complete dud.
I think what this shows is that the UK a has a wealth of excellent hoppy (and gose) brewers, but is slightly underwhelming on the stout front.

Blackberry and hoppy nose. Taste is fruity. More on the blackberry. Hoppy, sour yes and tart yes but not as much as I was expected by the nose. Jammy like. Thick. Super good.

This Saturday 12/7, starting at 11:30 am at the brewery, we are excited to introduce, EQ De Jamaica, (6.0% ABV Wild Ale) at $18 per 750ml (Limit 6) and $10 per 375ml (Limit 3). Limit subject to change.
Winter is here but EQ De Jamaica (Hah- My- Cah) transports us to a warmer climate. We wanted to play off the common aguas fresca drinks served on the islands made by steeping hibiscus and other ingredients to make infused beverages. The result is a complex and elegant farmhouse ale infused with pineapple, hibiscus, lime zest, and local honey from Honeybrook Farms in Pine Bush, NY.
EQ De Jamaica pours a beautiful golden copper yellow and releases an earthy and subtle tropical aroma. It’s flavor is a balanced tartness with notes of pineapple, light cranberry and hibiscus, notes of chardonnay, citrus zest all bundled together with beautifully light but integrated honey backbone. It has a balanced and dry mineral like finish that’s complex and full of depth with our pleasant funk. We find this wild ale perfect on its own or as a companion for food pairings with Friends and Family.

В аромате коньячные тона с оттенком вишни в шоколаде. В бокал наливается вязко. Густой, сухой, с жжено-ликерно-коньячными нюансами, дополненными пряной древесной нотой и каплей кофе. На послевкусии немного горьковат. Благородный, согревающий, алко практически не чувствуется. On the nose, the hops blast your nostrils (which I absolutely love) along with tropical fruit, passion fruit, pineapple and a touch of pine. Gets the salivary glands squirting. Soft and fluffy in the mouth, smooth and creamy, velvety and pillowy, @electricbrewingco has this one dialed in. Pineapple, passion fruit, peaches, bananas and berries. You also get some mangos, but the show stopper here is the hoppiness. It’s insane. Hoppy on the tongue, hop bite on the swallow and even hop burps. I love the hoppy beers and this one is crazy good. For a single IPA, the amount of flavor, body and overall experience of this beer ranks right up there with many DIPAs. I know that Electric doesn’t rehash many of their beers, but Justen and crew should consider canning this one again. Simply put, this is one of the finest single IPAs I’ve had in a long, long time and the best single I’ve had from Electric. I know everyone loves the super high octane TIPAs, but I’ll leave those to the big chugging dogs like @mannyfresco34 and @lunch__lady. Fill my fridge with Hallucinations Of Disordered Minds and I’ll be a very happy man.

Passion fruit nose and taste. White grapes. Very sour and tart. Can have some hops when it warms a little.

This Saturday 12/7, starting at 11:30 am at the brewery, we are happy to introduce Time, our newest IPA (6.25 % ABV) at $16 per 4-pk, limit 1 case per person. Limit subject to change.
Time is the fundamental thread in the fabric of reality. It is the most valuable commodity we have. It’s even the reason some people wear a clock around their neck. The passing of time is closely connected to the concept of space and something that should be valued, treasured, and enjoyed.
Time is the 6.25% version of dHop5 with our energy treatment. Citra and Galaxy layer flavors on the base of mixture of torrefied and white wheat and finishes with the most hops per barrel we’ve put in an IPA yet. It pours a bright yellow and has aroma of just cut orange slices with a hint of peach. The flavors are bright citrus, pineapple, and stone fruit with a super easy drinking soft finish with a light grapefruit bite.
