    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 "Praetorian Rising" by @jessie_grace137

Review: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
In reading this novel, I found myself carried away to a video-game-esque reality filled with epic battles, tragic backstories, and terrifying intrigue. The story transports you to the captivating world of the unknown. This fantasy world is a creation unique to the author's imagination and startlingly realistic. The language is beautifully vivid, painting a picture of fantasy and sparing no detail in eloquent imagery. The characters are complex and multidimensional, ensuring a natural connection with one another as well as with the reader. I was especially impressed with the immense detail of the battle scenes, to which the author's careful detail was evident in every jab of the protagonist's sword. The author clearly had an end goal in mind and developed every aspect of the carefully woven plots into a spiderweb of intricate design. There were no gaps in the story and ample room was provided to allow for a thorough extension of the plot in several more volumes of the series. In new authors, it is very rare to find such precision maintained from start to finish, but this book was consistent throughout. "Praetorian Rising" is a blend of fantasy and sci-fi that accurately shows the skilled hand of the author. As a debut novel from this author, it is especially impressive and leaves me wanting more. If she produces work of such high quality with her debut novel, I am only more intrigued to see what future titles may hold. I highly recommend this book!

"The secret of blending in is don't try to. Everyone is so fu**ing self obsessed."
-- The girl in the ice, Robert Bryndza
The girl in the ice is a brilliantly clever crime thriller. Thought provoking, full of suspense, this is a murder mystery one shouldn't miss. With a great plot that really digs into depth of human nature and some fascinating characters that really were excessive shades of light and dark.

The main protagonist, DCI Foster, is a complex character. Widowed in a police raid gone wrong, she is difficult and impulsive. She is not an easy character to warm to and she is certainly very frustrating at times, however I couldn't help but respect her.

A fantastic and thrilling book -- recommended for fans if crime thriller. I really enjoyed reading it and I can't wait to read the second in the series, The Nightstalker.

    Godsgrave
Omg I just finished this book! And wow I am still not okay because of the end and I won’t be until I can read Darkdawn.
I will use NO SPOILERS in this short review.
I started this book a little bit more than a week ago (although I finished Nevernight a month ago I didn’t start Godsgrave immediately which I thank myself for now because I can’t wait for Darkdawn any longer) it took me a while to finish it because I had to work this week. But damn it was so worth every second spent on it! The story developed so good and it had me wondering what was to come every second. It took so many turns and twist I did not see coming. I definitely give this book 5⭐️ because I love this series and it’s been a while since a book ending left me this shocked!! I can’t wait to read Darkdawn so let the fifth of September come soon!!! Q: What did you think of Godsgrave? (Avoid spoilers! But if you want sent me a private message and we can discuss the ending 😄)

One of the only yellow books I own basking in some golden hour sunlight 😍 It's been off the scale hot here and I'm just about ready for a nice glass of chilled white 😉
But back to the book. Here's my Goodreads review to persuade you to add it to your list now!
.
From what I'd heard about this book I expected to like it. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with Noah and Jude's story so much.
It was a little bit weird. A little bit addictive. And the depth of emotion as our two twins negotiate their early/mid teenage years was off the scale.
There were so many layers to this story, and just as you unwrapped one, another would slip into place. I loved the back and forth narrative, it was excellently done, and if you don't feel for both Noah (my favourite, I wanted to protect him!) and Jude as they both battle the complicated battlefield of falling for boys they can't have, you have no soul!
But this is so much more than another YA love story. It's about families and dreams, heartaches and secrets.
Nelson's narrative is sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, but always beautiful. An intelligent YA worth bumping up your tbr list! .

The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton
Historical Fiction
Synopsis is on my page a few post back
.
This sounded like something I’d love and at first I thought I needed to dedicate more time to it; my first few chapters of reading were heavily interrupted, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I found the characters in this to be very one dimensional, with virtually no character development whatsoever. The Miniaturist, I thought would play a key role in the story but they barely featured in the book at all. It seemed as though they only existed to add an edge to the story and help with the atmospheric feel of the book. (Something I also think the author failed to achieve.) The story could have easily been told without them in my opinion.
I do wonder if the author was inspired by Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, the character Marin loosely reminded me of Mrs Danvers, but I found her a poor imitation if so. (Of course I could be way off the mark here.)
It’s possible this book was spoilt for me because I’ve recently read a few of Daphne’s novels, and as the queen of gothic fiction she creates that loaded claustrophobic atmosphere that fills you up. She is a hard act to follow and that could have had some bearing on my reading experience. The eery atmosphere was none existent and the authors attempts to create said atmosphere felt clumsy and unsuccessful to me. I feel this could have been so much more than it was, it had the potential to champion some worthy topics but ultimately it didn’t grasp onto any of them.
It would be interesting to know how I would have felt about this book had I read this before I’d read Daphne 🤔.
The only redeeming factor is that I didn’t dislike it enough to dnf so for that it gets ⭐️⭐️.

    ✱Sensational ✱Mysterious ✱ Intriguing ✱

I very randomly discovered this gem of a book. As always, I was on the hunt for yet another book to devour over the summer. It was actually the cover of the book that attracted my attention. Yeah, I know. You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. But hey, my instant thoughts were that it would be amazing. And so it was.
As you read your way through the book you will find yourself eye-rolling over all the secrets that are spilled. Eye-rolling in a good way though, you’re intrigued by their lives. One by one the pokerfaces are ripped off and they lie there, bleeding all there secrets out.
Oh God, sorry, did I just go too far?
I love how Karen tells this story, she wrote it in a very beautiful way. It was easy to read and because of all the plot-twisting secrets, you want to devour the books as fast as possible! Oh and when you get to the end... Please make sure you sit down comfortably so you aren’t swooped off your feet by the major plot-twist and thrilling ending. I certainly didn’t see that one coming. 😳
And OMG, I just found out there will be a sequel to this book. I’m thrilled to learn more about the four characters. ✨

Book: Until love sets us apart
Author: @adityanighhot
To love with love❤️
Firstly, I loved the book cover♥️
Talking of this book, it's a romantic fiction❤️ Until love sets us apart is a love story of Aisha and Rohit, who were separated by their fate. Their life get flipped within a short period of time and transform Rohit into a criminal who killed four people. To find out the purpose of circumstances in Rohit's life, read the story😍
Talking of its plot, it's actually unique and captivating. The author discussed so many serious issues in this book which is the best part of the book. The story is heart touching. Although, the end was predictable but it still holds you till the end of the story.
The writing style was simple, easy and relatable. The author has written the novel in a deep sense and the message is smartly conveyed. It's like i'm watching a thriller movie. But in some parts it becomes boring but overall the book is really good ♥️ The characters are strong and interesting. This book has a heart touching end.
So yahh!! After a long time i read something different and serious. You should give this book a try. I am looking forward for more books by the author ❤️
A deserving national bestseller♥️
I rate it 3.9/5

Are you a planner or spontaneous? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am not a planner, but lately, I have noticed that writing things down will always make everything more apparent and is helpful to determine your goals and mediums to reach such.

Writing helps your brain remember and have a more in-depth analysis of whatever it is you are thinking. So, my spontaneity needed a little help from my non-existing planning habits. Guess what? I started creating them, but I never want to stop grabbing my car keys and driving until I encounter small towns ☺️! I love spontaneity but a little push from some planning helps me achieve more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Can I find any excuse? I suppose I know, as you did not, that life is full of hidden contracts. We all expect, or at least hope for, reciprocation: I do something for you, you do something for me. It’s in the water, a sort of bartering gone clandestine. So you offered me possibility: your heart inflated things. I offered you reality: my head brought them down to size, often size zero. Not a great deal for either of us in the end, but I suppose I, ‘the grown-up’, had a different world to contend with.

Odcina go od przyjaciół, pozbawia internetu.
.
.
Pyszna to była lektura, zwłaszcza, że las, choć się nim szczerze zachwycam, zawsze budził we mnie czujność i niemiłosiernie nakręcał wyobraźnię😱
.
A Wy lubicie las? Czy się go raczej boicie? ;)

    .
    .
Pyszna to była lektura, zwłaszcza, że las, choć się nim szczerze zachwycam, zawsze budził we mnie czujność i niemiłosiernie nakręcał wyobraźnię😱
    .
A Wy lubicie las? Czy się go raczej boicie? ;)

Whoever says internet friends aren’t real friends, clearly are not a part of the bookstagram community. *
*
*
I’ve made so many awesome friends on here who I love talking to! Doing buddy reads and just having every day discussions about random things in life - bookstagram friends are amazing. I was also overwhelmed with love and support from the bookstagram community during law school finals and the bar exam! You guys are honestly the best. *

Shout out to the “Cool Kids Club” group for my surprise post-bar exam care package! It was such a surprise and I love everything in the care package! The coloring book still cracks me up 😂

Hello readers ❤️ I’m slowly getting back into my study sessions and I hate it. I had less than one month of vacation, can you believe it? 😭 sometimes I wish I could leave everything I’m doing and just take the first plane to somewhere far away. I dream of traveling the world, seeing wonderful places, discovering interesting cultures, meeting amazing people! There are some many things I would like to do instead of getting a degree, but none of them can give me a secure future, which is why I have to put them aside and proceed with my studies 🙄 can you relate to this feeling?
☼
Do you see those little hearts spilled from my cup of chocolate? Those are the cutest wax melts you’ll ever see — courtesy of @itslettersfromjuliet ✨ they smell of Wonka Bar, our favorite chocolate bar 🍫 go ahead and grab yours, there’s a chance you’ll find your Golden Ticket to Wonka’s Factory 🤩 they can be burned multiple times — I’ve been burning one of mine for almost two months now (not every day obviously) and it still makes the room smell delicious like the first day!
☼
q o t d ~ are you going back to school/uni this fall? What are you studying? I’m going to start my third and final year of Computer Science in September! Can’t wait for it to be over 😂

It's the final countdown.. One week left of summer vacation!😭😭
.
.
QOTD: beach or lake?🌊🏞
.
.
Synopsis: Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls. Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who went up against the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape Pine Cottage and the man she refers to only as Him. The three girls are all attempting to put their nightmares behind them, and, with that, one another. Despite the media's attempts, they never meet.
Now, Quincy is doing well—maybe even great, thanks to her Xanax prescription. She has a caring almost-fiancé, Jeff; a popular baking blog; a beautiful apartment; and a therapeutic presence in Coop, the police officer who saved her life all those years ago. Her memory won’t even allow her to recall the events of that night; the past is in the past.
That is, until Lisa, the first Final Girl, is found dead in her bathtub, wrists slit, and Sam, the second, appears on Quincy's doorstep. Blowing through Quincy's life like a whirlwind, Sam seems intent on making Quincy relive the past, with increasingly dire consequences, all of which makes Quincy question why Sam is really seeking her out. And when new details about Lisa's death come to light, Quincy's life becomes a race against time as she tries to unravel Sam's truths from her lies, evade the police and hungry reporters, and, most crucially, remember what really happened at Pine Cottage, before what was started ten years ago is finished. .

    💭What is something/things you’re excited about for fall? .
.
.
Hello again honeybees 🐝 I do declare it’s time to bring fall back to my account (like it really ever left 😂) I’m taking a bunch of pictures this weekend so hopefully I’ll have plenty of fall pics to last me awhile 🍂 I got a head start on my homework yesterday and as soon as I finish it, I’ll be diving back into the very eerie arc of The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring sitting lonely on my desk. I hope you have a good day, with great people and amazing books 💖

TRUE LIFE: Bookstagram Made Me Do IT!
.
Do you remember the MTV show TRUE LIFE? Well, in this episode I’m sharing my latest bookstagram made me do it purchase - this book cart! 😂 In all honesty, I have no idea what I’ll be stacking in this cart. But I bought one anyway and I’ve stacked some of my favorite books inside for this photo😍.

🌸💗 Hey alle zusammen! 💗🌸 Habt ihr Geschwister❓😊
Ich habe eine große Schwester, namens Vanessa 😜🙋‍♀️
@vanessa.glei ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
