I think the last time I painted was about two months ago. My husband thinks I’m probably burned out after #the100dayproject 😂 I just think that my interests are somewhere else, namely in reading and writing. I was happy to have found painting when I did, because I believe it helped to unlock a certain part of my creativity and encouraged me to keep pursuing the creative side. Nothing is ever lost. 😊

Somehow, I blinked and it’s the end of August! 😅😱 So crazy how quickly this month (and this year in general) has gone by!

I got basically no reading done this week because we had a lot of deadlines at work, so today has been a reading day for me. It has been amazing!

These are the books I’m hoping to finish this week. Godsgrave is for a buddy read hosted by @gigimcgee31 — it’s the second book in the Nevernight series & I’m loving it so far! Half of a Yellow Sun is the #diversifyyourbacklist pick for this month — it’s absolutely phenomenal and I really need to finish it for the final chat on Wednesday. I’m also about 90 pages into Hunger. It’s my current book for the @webebooknfb bookopoly event and it is stunning so far! Can’t wait to read more of these books!

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

How to read a book ✨ A poetic and captivating journey about the experience of reading. Would be great to read when introducing reading workshops ✨ It is visually appealing but I personally found it a little hard to read 🤭🤓 #bookstagram #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers

QOTD: How have your book buying habits changed since joining Bookstagram?
AOTD: Not only do I buy more physical books (I used to buy mostly ebooks) but I also buy multiple editions of the same book and special editions of books that I didn’t even know was a thing until Bookstagram! 💸💸💸

My Goldsboro edition of Dark Age finally arrived!!! Hence my question and my wondering if anyone else shares my anxiety in waiting a month for a very expensive box of paper to arrive. But it’s here safely and I am only mildly disturbed by the fact that there is a snake on the spine and I can see it if I look at my bookshelf. I better put a candle in front of it...

Day 24 of August #bookreadhappyhour: Trouble with a capital T
•
Meddlesome, tenacious, stubborn, sometimes a little foolhardy, anyone who knows Miss Veronica Speedwell would definitely say she is Trouble with a capital T. Stoker would say the whole word should be capitalized. I absolutely adore Veronica and her refusal to adhere to the Victorian expectations of women and her desire to live her life as she chooses. Even if that means endangering her own life solving mysteries on a somewhat regular basis.
If you like daring, outspoken female characters, excellent mysteries, Victorian England, and broody male companions, do yourself a favor and read this series! I’ll be standing by to say you’re welcome. 😉

In this world there are very rare books that can leave an impact on you forever and change the way you see the things around you. "Behind the Crimson Tears" by Avisek is one of a kind.

This book is full of drama that keeps you engaged till the very end. This book actually depicts how people deal with issues like domestic voilence, rape, bullying, depression etc.I highly appericiate the author for being so bold with his words and choosing to write this book.

This book is about 3 friends who unite for reunion and reveal some dark secrets of their past life that they haven't shared with anyone else. The characters in the book are well depicted that you can actually connect with them at a very personal level, as i did with one of the characters. This book shows that even going through so much in their life, all 3 of them stood strong and took further challenges in life and grew through them. One thing this book beautifully showed is that love is not always what we see in movies and dramas. Love can have a dark side as well and it shows that when it comes to our loved ones anything can be done. This book is so intriguing that you hold onto it until it's finished.
This book is very interesting and a must read. Full of suspense and thrill that gives you goosebumps through out the read.

The language of the book is bold and simple. The author did an amazing job by writing this book. You can actually feel the narration and be completely involved.

P.S. This is the first book by Avisek and for a second you wouldn't have even realise that. The way he used his narration is so captivating and mind blowing. Looking forward to reading more from him.

Thank you Avisek for sending me this work. Congratulations on your first book. It's a master piece! I am incredibly happy for you and wish you the best for your next art piece. I am so excited to read it. Thank you once again.

Obsession. It’s an ugly thing.
It consumes you. Controls you. Dictates your every move.

You can try to fight it, try to resist. Butits stronger than you. It always wins.
The day I first saw her, obsession took root inside me. Suddenly there was nothing else. Just her.
My obsession leftme no choice. I had to have her.
No matter the cost.
No matter the risk.
In theend she will be mine.
Until then…I wait. . 🧡🖤 #DEFIANT 🖤🧡
Infatuation is a dangerous thing.

It devours you. Manipulates you. Owns you.

You can try to ignore it, try to move past it. But it’s more powerful than you. It won’t let go.

The day I first saw him, infatuation dug its claws into my soul. I couldn’t stop it. Everything faded. Except him.

My infatuation blinded me. Made me see what it wanted me to see. Now I’m lost within the lie. Caged by the beast.

In the end, he will have me.

Until then…I fight.

Minha 16° leitura de Agosto ❤
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📚 À Sombra do Jatobá
👩🏻 Rosângela Maschio @romaschio ▪️Editora Expressão e Arte
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▪️Primeiro: ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gostou?

When I read the trite, cliched thriller book earlier this year I wasn't impressed. It hit all the beats that thrillers are supposed to hit, the characters were what they are supposed to be, everything was exactly right. I was bored.
So when this sweet little romance was one of the choices for the Book of the Month Club for August, I didn't think I'd be that impressed. Nothing looked better and I figured, hey, a nice romance for the end of summer. And it's a nice romance. It hits all the beats, the characters are exactly who they're supposed to be, and everything was exactly right. I loved it.
Emily is 23 and has just been dumped by the man she gave up everything for. She is in town to help her sister recuperate from a nasty car accident and take care of her niece. She did not expect to join the local Renaissance faire as a tavern wench, but in order for her niece to participate she had to too.
She didn't expect to build deep friendships, enjoy the faire and become closer to her sister. She really didn't expect to fall in love with the enigmatic Simon, also known as the cashing Captain Ian Blackthorn. This is the story of how she did.
There is a point in the story where Emily is insecure about everything - her job, her relationship, if her friends like her, if her family wants her to stay in town. Man that resonated with me. I have had those years where everything felt tenuous and I couldn't imagine anyone liking me. I was wrong. Emily was wrong. I hope the next person with anxiety issues who picks this book up realizes that they are wrong too.
I have a theory as to why I like the romance so much more than the thriller. In the past I've been the solitary person who listens to too many true crime podcasts and sees the world in a grim light. But that's not me now. Now I'm the woman with the gorgeous ruby ring on her finger, whose fiance just kissed her goodnight. My life *is* the trite little romance I used to look down on. Well that serves me right for looking down on it.

As a HUGE fan of The Shining, I couldn't wait to read Doctor Sleep. If you didn't already know, Doctor Sleep is the "sequel" to The Shining. This book is about Danny Torrance and where he is later in life after the traumatizing events that took place at The Overlook hotel when he was a child. As you all can tell, I don't say much about plot, or anything in these reviews I truly would hate to spoil anything in a great book for another Constant Reader. This book was not exactly what I was expecting when I imagined a sequel to The Shining, however I can say that it didn't disappoint! This is a book I really enjoyed reading and will definitely be reading again down the road.
This book is being adapted to film very soon, so look for it to be in theaters this November! I'm excited and can't wait! If you haven't taken the time to read this book, please do! I would absolutely recommend reading The Shining first if you haven't before reading Doctor Sleep Though.

Almost to the first 100 followers! 💪🏻 Happy reading folks

Found this book in the little Free library at the Starbucks. Picked it up on a whim simply because I love collecting books but I will tell you it is incredibly well written and the story at only page 30 is intriguing. A highly recommended read. #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #currentlyreading

QOTD: What’s your typical Sunday routine?🤩
•
Some @inkandwonder.designs appreciation post as I impatiently wait for my box and recent woodmark haul to arrive🙃. I just love Paris’ designs so much and the quality of her items😱👌 I need to control myself 😂
•
On another note Dangerous and Deadly crates are sold out! But some of Paris’ stash will be up soon so watch out!❤️
•
Don’t forget to use my code LITERARYFAE10 to save when you buy from her shop!💕

It's been a busy month for me, but I finally finished Devil's Hill by @ereyeshorror 😁

I'm giving this 5 stars for a few reasons.
1-It's centered on a spooky town that I would like to live in.
2-It was great seeing previous characters and stories intertwine in later stories.
3-It's funny. Seriously, "hangover farts" had me laughing hard.
4-My birthday was in it 😂

If you haven't picked it up, you should! October's coming up fast, my friends 👻

Happy Sunday guys! Since I'm not feeling especially inspired this afternoon I'm going to keep it simple... q: what's your go-to book/series for when people ask for recommendations?

For me, The Darkest Minds is definitely one of them. I just remember LOVING the series, and so I guess I assume everyone else will 😂

The beautiful Scarlett and Tella bookmarks are from @biggerprint who is currently having a BOGO sale right now including prints! Rep codes don't work but mention me (Emelie) in the comments of your order 😁

Hello 👋🏻 sorry I’ve been mia these last few days but my queen @taylorswift just dropped her new album #lover and I haven’t been able to function since. This album is so so so good, I just filmed an album review for my YouTube channel and I’m editing it now so that should be up later today! But wow this album is amazing all the songs are so good and Taylor is the queen of lyrics for real. 😍🤤 Also, London Boy gives me such Alex/Henry vibes from Red White and Royal Blue so that’s why this book is in this photo! That song is too cute. What are your favorite songs on the album? Mine are The Man, False God, Cornelia Street, Lover, and The Archer. But there’s so many favorites they’re all so good! ☺️😋 #taylorswift #redwhiteandroyalblue #book #music #bookstagram #booksofinsta #booksofinstagram #acai

Hello 👋🏻 sorry I’ve been mia these last few days but my queen @taylorswift just dropped her new album #lover and I haven’t been able to function since. This album is so so so good, I just filmed an album review for my YouTube channel and I’m editing it now so that should be up later today! What’s your favourite YA Romance? ✨ I received I Hold Your Heart by Karen Gregory from @bloomsburypublishing the other day and it sounds so interesting and completely different to what I usually read! Challenging our ideas of what love looks like, the novel explores gaslighting in teen relationships and what happens when being seen becomes being watched , and care becomes control. I’m hoping to read it in one sitting tomorrow 😊 I’ll be posting a review for Call It What You Want on my story along with an unboxing of the July @theyachronicles box ❤️ Thank you for all your sweet comments on my 5K post and I hope you’re excited about the giveaway 🥰 Have a magical night ✨
