    We’re excited to welcome Jessica Palmer-Gwaltney to  the weekly schedule this fall! Many of our students have gotten to know Jess' warm and accessible teaching style because she’s been subbing for us all summer (thanks Jess). ⁠⠀

Jess first found yoga in gyms, looking for exercise; through a dedicated studio and home practice she realized that yoga was so much more: a pathway for easing anxiety, finding self-acceptance, and restoring mind-body balance on and off the mat.⁠ She recently received her RYT-200 yoga teacher certification through @balancethroughmovement. ⁠⠀

A former special educator and current instructional designer, Jess is a teacher at heart and is completing her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Balance Through Movement so she can share what she loves about yoga with others.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Jess is passionate about inclusivity and self-compassion and wants to help people listen to their bodies and focus more on what yoga feels like on the inside than on what it looks like on the outside.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Her other loves are spending time with her husband and rescue dogs as well as crocheting, gardening, reading, cooking, and eating!⁠⠀

Jess will teach Gentle Yoga to Stretch and Strengthen from 9-10:15am on Mondays. Her first class on Labor Day, is free! Come check it out.⁠⠀

    Sometimes, when you've been away, the hardest thing is just getting back out there . . . so hear I am, giving it a go! Having just been to the Isle of Mull for two weeks I am feeling rejuvenated and inspired and so comforted by all the wonderful wildlife we saw and adventures we had. This was my view kayaking across the sea loch infront of our house. Peace and tranquility right there!

    I honestly wasn't looking forward to coming back to Florida. Having grown so used to the wide open landscapes of the PNW, the thought of returning to the urban sprawl of coastal life wasn't all that appealing. As beautiful as the ocean may be, leaving my little acre of land with it's colossal Dougie Firs and Red Western Cedars was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. But with each breathtaking sunset, and each kiss from the sun that's been so elusive over the past six years, it feels more and more like home every day. Have you ever been resistive to something at first that turned out to be in your best interest in the long run?

    How much should you drink? 🤔.

❤️Being attentive to the amount of water you drink each day is important for optimal health. Most people drink when they’re thirsty, which helps regulate daily water intake. 🧐According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, general water intake (from all beverages and foods) that meet most people’s needs are: .
💧about 15.5 cups of water (125 ounces) each day for men
about 11.5 cups (91 ounces) daily for women
💧People get about 20 percent of their daily water intake from food. The rest is dependent on drinking water and water-based beverages. So, ideally men would consume about 100 ounces (3.0 liters) of water from beverages, and women, about 73 ounces (2.12 liters) from beverages. .
☀️You’ll have to increase your water intake if you’re exercising or living in a hotter region to avoid dehydration. .
💦Other ways to assess hydration include your thirst and the color of your urine. Feeling thirsty indicates your body is not receiving adequate hydration. Urine that is dark or colored indicates dehydration. Pale or non-colored urine typically indicates proper hydration.
