It’s unclear who was the first to elevate wagyu beef, one of the world’s priciest proteins known for its impeccable fatty marbling, into the category of not-so-everyday lunch. But the wagyu katsu sando — as it’s called in Japan — has been Instagram bait for at least the last four years since Nakahara, the chef many credit with cooking some of Tokyo’s very best wagyu beef, began serving it to regulars as an off-menu special at Sumibiyaki Shichirin, the now-shuttered protein palace he operated for nearly 13 years before his current engagement.

In the last year or so, a number of highly regarded Japanese chefs have adopted the dish, adding their own twists — with some making the steak sandwich a daily option, others reserving it for those in the know. Time to finish telling the Slovenia story I started 2 months (er, 2 years) ago... the impetus for the trip in September was a dinner reservation at Hisa Franko, which I began talking about in 2017, booked in 2018, canceled, and then rebooked this year. The meal/experience/trip was a long time coming! *** Already high on Slovenian wine country, Amy and I drove north to Kobarid, our original highly anticipated destination. Google routed us through Italy’s Friuli region for a stretch, where we stopped for unavoidable cannoli and meandering. Back in Slovenia, we wound through the tree-lined highway that passes Hisa Franko and deposits into town. There, we found our lovely house and indulged in a preview of our evening experience by having lunch at Hisa Polonka, sister restaurant of Hisa Franko. Or perhaps better named husband restaurant because it’s run by Walter Kramer. He was there unloading a keg and chatting with guests - business as usual for daytime in Kobarid. The friendly host that he is, Walter greeted our newcomer faces too. Hours later at Hisa Franko, he’d recognize us and we’d be invited for a toast in the wine cellar. 🥂

Enchiladas Suizas are hard to make pretty but 99% of the time if its ugly delicious? I can live with that 100%! Made these bad boys with Chicken, Asadero, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Jack Cheese and a traditional Salsa Verde. Smoked with Pecan Pellets on my @traegergrills for 40 minutes at 375! Came out PERFECT! Here is our version.

French Toast with Fig, delima, blackberries and yoghurt cream sauce
French toast, one slice of white bread cut into a triangle, mixed one egg with 2 tbsp milk, then soak the sliced bread in the mixture and pan-fry in 1tbsp extra light olive oil.
For the yoghurt sauce, add 2 tbsp Greek yoghurt with 2 tbsp cream cheese and 1tsp cinnamon sugar
.
And then top-it up with your favourite food.

O desejo era comida chinesa, porém não é qualquer um que nos faz suspirar por essa culinária tão gostosa quando bem feita.
Fomos ao Yang Choi em São José do Rio Preto, os pratos foram Arroz Chop Suey, Agridoce de Frango e Bifum ao Curry com Camarões.
Wai Man Bun, conhecido como “Pan”,nasceu em Hong Kong e imigrou para o Brasil em 1974. Iniciou suas atividades em São José do Rio Preto com a Pastelaria Boa Sorte.
Já em 1982 inaugurou em São José do Rio Preto um dos primeiros restaurantes da culinária chinesa do município.
Os pratos são muito saborosos e bem preparados, uma ótima experiência.

I get a lot of dm's asking how I stay in such great shape when I'm travelling, esp in countries such as Europe where the local rue's and strasses are like a real life Westfield food court (the fancy ones). My hot tip for the avid traveller is walking. I'm not talking about a quick jog around the block either, I'm clocking mini marathons on the pedometer, just the other day I came up a few steps short of 40,000 and I'd say a good 30 thous' alone were clocked in the discotheque that morning. I'd been in the city of love 4 days now and unable to hit a single review due to a case of mild shinsplints. I finally found my feet and headed straight for their national dish, the pain au chocolat. It's been years since I've had one and I figured that it was only fair to wait for the right one. The problem with waiting for the right pain au chocolat in Paris is that it could take all trip, this place has the highest pana to person ration on the planet, I just had to dive right in and eat the first one in sight. After a nervous first bite there were flakes flying everywhere and a couple of excited pigeons on standby. This was the real deal. This guy had the perfect amount of crunch and two flowing rows of melted chocolate. Sacrebleu, what a fucking experience.

I've seen my fair share of bribes as a professional food reviewer, which is no suprise when you hold a fierce reputation for being one of the harshest professional food reviewers out there (as voted by @pedestriantv_official) but these chocolates(?) with my Vegetarian Bun really take the cake. That being said, the friendly (not to mention beautiful) gals at @banhmico make the best damn Vegetarian Bun in Sydney. 10/10 stars, Deanlicious!

If I ever found out I'd been left on my 'parents' doorstep as baby I'd like to think it was the owners of Faheems on Enmore road who gave me one last spicy kiss on the forehead before giving me up to focus on creating one of the greatest no frills dining experiences I've possibly ever had. The atmosphere was driven by bright lighting and soccer on a tv still covered in the same stickers it wore the day it was unboxed (and I did appreciate the low energy consumption rating). I had the Chicken Biryani and Beef Keema Mattar, both of which melted in my mouth. The flavors were somehow seriously relaxing, I just wanted to fall into a deep sleep with every mouthful, despite the obvious dangers involved in that it was extremely deanlicious. If it turns out that the owners are in fact my parents then you made the right choice, I'll be back again!

If you arrive in Japan expecting to catch one big sushi train everywhere you will be very disappointed. After the initial shock of having to catch a regular train I set out to find some srsly good sushi, first stop, Daikanyama. I did a tiny bit of research, fired up google maps which led me into a supermarket, and walked behind the frozen food section to a secret 5 seat sushi stall. The chef was intimidating to say the least however I did see what looked like a tiny smile when I got too much wasabi in my nose. One mouthful and I'd forgotten what year it was. This was by far one of the best sushis I've ever had. 10 stars Deanlicious.

If I'm not out reviewing the hottest new eats in town you'll find me cooking up a storm myself, this usually happens about twice a year. This time I got my hands all over a chicken, portogeis style. There is nothing more terrifying than holding a 'ken carcass in your hands, it'll change you. You may think I'm being a little bias on this review but I'm gonna give it a Deanlicious straight up.

Normally I'm only reviewing the best of the best on here but 'Mixed Nuts' gets a special mention for being the least deanlicious™ thing I've ever put in my mouth. I don't know what Brazil nuts are but if those little shits turn up in my bag of nuts again I'm calling the cops.
That being said the nurses at @RNS were lovely and if they ever open a restaurant there It's already got a deanlicious in my books.
