🙏🏼🙏🏼🧘🏼‍♀️Yoga🧘🏼‍♀️🙏🏼🙏🏼 This month 20 years ago I started with my first Hatha yoga class with Hilary Felbert in Cape Town.
What a journey it has been. Two decades of my life and to date the second longest relationship I have had with anything I chose to commit to.

Last night was my first class for the year at my current school called Anjali. This will be my tenth year at this school. I am the youngest student (49) at this school- our oldest student is in her seventies🧘🏼‍♀️ Yoga is and will probably always be my preferred form of movement exercise. From the first day I sat on my yoga mat, my whole being was rejoicing with ‘welcome home!’ 🧘🏼‍♀️Yoga calms me
🧘🏼‍♀️ It gives me flexibility 🧘🏼‍♀️ it strengthens my body, mind and emotions
🧘🏼‍♀️it gives my monkey mind focus and clarity
🧘🏼‍♀️it makes me happy
🧘🏼‍♀️it opens my heart
🧘🏼‍♀️ it connects me to God🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
🧘🏼‍♀️ it keeps me healthy.
It saddens me that certain religious groups still ostracize yoga as a practise that is either evil or against their faith! If anything, Yoga has brought me closer to God!

Today I pay homage to a practise that is over 5000 years old. I salute all the teachers and yogis that came before me, those that I share this path with and all the future students, yogi’s and teachers of this life enhancing practice🙏🏼🙏🏼💞 It is then fitting that I will complete my Kundalini Teachers Training later this year.

Lets talk today about the most concerned issue "OBESITY"🏥
Here, I am not talking about bodyshaming and fatness but the #obesity
The report of @who mentioned that 67% women and 56% men faced this issue and faced severe chronic diseases; cancer, diabetes and other heart diseases that seriously affected the death rates in #pakistan 😞
We as #influencerofpakistan haven't highlighted those concerns and focused more on #fitnessmotivation 🌱 to be more attractive and slim.

Slacking off on my steps but got a second day of swimming in.
Backstroke doesn't work well in an outdoor pool with the sun in your eyes and sidewards winds... Thank goodness for lane ropes as I think i would have ended up 4 lanes over. 😂😂
I was the only one in the pool luckily.

The life gaurd watching over the pool I was in probably thought I was drunk.

Why do I exercise? 🏋🏼‍♀️
It’s not to lose weight or be skinny 🙅🏼‍♀️
It’s because of what’s happening in this picture (you know, you never know when you might get stuck climbing a mountain and have to carry two children? 🤷🏼‍♀️😂) No but seriously, it’s because of my kids. Chasing after them is hard work, carrying heavy nappy bags is hard work, carrying a screaming toddler in a football hold while pushing your trolley around full of groceries one handed like nothing is even happening, is hard work! (this was me Monday 😂) Before I had my girls, I always exercised to lose weight. I’d try different things, gym memberships, walking etc. and it was always short lived and then I’d stop.
After I had Eadie I tried a few different gyms, and I’ll admit I was looking to lose that baby weight.
But instead I’ve found myself a lifelong hobby! I actually enjoy the gym classes I go to, I crave them when I can’t go. I’ve noticed such a difference in my everyday life from the strength I’ve gained (not just kgs lost like whenever else I’d exercised) my back is stronger and therefore not hurting or injuring as much as it use to, I’ve learnt so much about exercise (thanks to my awesome trainer @kezrietmueller 😜) and most importantly I’m being a great role model for my girls. Eadie will quite often drop down to the ground and do a burpee or mountain climber, she uses the resistance bands at home to do exercises, and she always praises my efforts, which I’m sure she’s caught on from sitting on the sideline and watching me each class 😜 Today while on her walk we spoke about how big and strong she would be getting from all that ‘hard work’ as she calls it 😂😍
Once you find an important reason for exercising, it doesn’t become a chore at all.
It’s been over 2 years that I’ve continued with the same classes-definitely the longest I’ve ever ‘stuck at it’-I’ve weighed the heaviest I ever have, I haven’t lost my baby weight, but I don’t even care. There’s so many more things in life to worry about then a bit of extra weight on my body. I’m happy, healthy, and got two amazing kids 💕 what more could I want!?

🇳🇴Det er herlig å ha kommet i gang med nytt år og rutiner. Trening og sunt kosthold gir meg så utrolig mye energi, overskudd og go’følelse. #growyourglutes The January Glute Challenge!
Day 22: 💯 Banded Kick Backs
.
Day 20 and 21 have been really heavy (for me at least) so today is regeneration training. 100 reps each side just to get a little pump and a bit blood flowing to the glutes and adductors. #triggersession
.
How to:
1) Place the band just above your ankles.
2) Face a wall, chair or anything you can use to slightly balance with.
3) Slightly bend one leg while you lift the other off the ground.
4) Keep the leg straight and drive that heel back into the band.
5) Squeeze your glute as you lift. Do not rock forward to try to get the leg up higher.
6) Height doesn’t matter. Just focus on squeezing your glutes and keep your core tight.
7) Hold at the top and then lower down and repeat for 20-25 reps. .
Muscles worked:
.
The Single Leg Kickback is a exercise that targets your glutes (gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus) and hamstring muscles. This leg exercise is as close as it gets to an isolation glute exercise.

Went for a swim DID 52 LAPS my hugest to date 🙌🏿💃🏿🏊🏿💪🏿
But I have a ways to go, I overheard a lady in her 60s saying she does 70 laps in an hour 😱😱😱... I got a ways to go for sure .
Then had some peanuts again🤦🏿‍♀️

Made Jollof with salad with avocado, apples and welsely cheese with cranberry and grilled lamb and turkey 🦃

Im planning to train everyday except weekends where I will get back into walking, so help me, God 🙏🏿

I'm officially buggered.
We spent most the morning chasing after our daughter on her new bike we than came home and spent the afternoon swimming and running around the yard 😴😴
But nothings gonna stop me, gym time while the children have some dinner.
Gotta keep going and not listen to the excuses and negative thoughts in my head. I'm not too tired! I can do this! I am worth looking after! 💪😁
I think ill be tucked up into bed asleep myself not long after lights out.

Alright, who else made a goal to be more active this year?🙋🏻‍♀️ I would be lying if I said I’ve been as consistent as I want to be but it’s all good! Not the biggest resolution gal but I do think that it’s nice to make goals for yourself, something to have your mind set on. One of those things for me is to spend at least 30 minutes a day walking/running or stretching! This might seem small but I’ve come to realize that this is the most realistic minimum goal I can set for myself daily and I’m okay with that! 🏃🏻‍♀️Of course when it comes to goal setting you want to push yourself. But there’s also a line (in my opinion) where you need to set realistic goals for yourself! I would love to say, I’ll have a six pack by June, but that’s not the kind of pressure I want to put myself under for the sake of my mental health. I also know that this will also help balance my anxiety more. Anxiety has always been a battle of mine and I like that I can do something more about it for daily upkeep than just medicine and breathing techniques! Two wins from a simple 30 minutes? I’ll take it!😌
