My personal transformation, photos before and after. Went from 74kgs (163 pounds) to just now 64kgs (141 pounds) All as I can say is that I’m super stoked about my achievements, really proud I manage to achieve a task that I thought was so impossible! I feel more happy with myself than I have in years and I have only myself to thank. a fun fitness class after school for them to get their energy out and a run around without being in the bad weather.they will learn about fitness and exercise while having fun and making new friends in a safe enviroment.40 mins long so they should be pretty worn out after :)

There are many benefits to resistance training; as we age our bones become more brittle and porous, but weight training reverses this process and makes the bones adapt to stimulus. This ensures your bones retain their vital strength.
The earlier you start resistance training the better - but even at the age of 90, resistance training can give dramatic improvements in bone density.
You will also stabilise the joints, improving your balance and co-ordination. All the joints are held together and supported by the muscles-the stronger they are then the stronger and more stable your joints are.
Weight lifting will improve the way your brain communicates with your muscles, making you more co-ordinated.
They similarly improve the fast twitch fibres that you use when reacting quickly. This is the key to good reflexes and will help if you ever have to brake suddenly in the car or step out of the way of a bus!

Good morning on day two 😁
Food shopping tonight ready for the weekend and am meal planning. I know preparation is key for me; not having to make decisions on the fly while dealing with school runs, homework, dog walking and everything else that happens in the whirlwind after 3pm just makes my life easier and I find it less stressful. One thing I have to work on is overwhelm which I allow to affect me more than I should.
Slight movement on the scale this morning, managed to get in my 10000 steps yesterday too in the freezing cold and wet so pleased about that. Home based exercise is on the cards for tonight but the longer dog walks are most appreciated by the pooch himself 🐶

Week 8 complete and ill be completely honest, I was BAD this week, went out Friday AND Saturday, ate my way through a burger and pizza and had a drink both nights, so was not expecting to lose!!!! .
One thing I didn’t do was give up on workouts, I only had 2 rest days throughout the week!! .
Just goes to show, you can slip up, we are all human, but never give up!!!!!

Desk jobs are very common and correlated with back pain. This is because it holds us in sustained postures, shortens muscles in our hip flexors and hamstrings and then flexes our thoracic spine and neck.
It needn’t be painful and regular exercise will contribute to reversing the effects of being stuck at a desk.

I thought these simple chair based stretches were a great and simple way to look after your back without needing to leave your desk.

Try holding each position for 30 seconds and incorporating these stretches into your day twice per day.
It’s even more important if you intend on working out after work or you’ve rushed in from a morning exercise class!
If this begins to improve symptoms such as pain or feelings of tightness then perhaps it’s time to get assessed by Amanda to improve things even more.
Massage, acupuncture, exercise prescription are all highly effective and administered by a professional here at TheTherapyHub.

I hear this quite a lot.

Often when people begin programmes with us - and I totally get it. ✌️ I mean, if people are used to weighing themselves every day, getting nowhere and it puts them in a bad mood - the cause and effect of weighing yourself would in fact, most likely be negative.
But the problem IS NOT that your weighing yourself...

The problem is that you don’t know how to handle the data. Or that you’re emotionally attached to the number on the scale.
People compare one number to the last number, in isolation, and believe this tells them what’s happening.
IT DOESN’T.
IT’S ONE PART OF A BIGGER PICTURE.

All you are supposed to do when you weigh yourself, is collect information.
It doesn’t necessarily tell you that you’re succeeding, likewise it doesn’t necessarily mean your failing. (I know that I can be up 2.5kg lighter the day after a heavy training session - that’s NOT because of fat loss.)
————————————————— So the notion that weighing yourself routinely is a bad idea, is bullsh*t.
It gives us a piece of data, that can be combined with other things to assess progress and adapt nutrition. —————————————————
You know what IS a bad idea?

ADD // DON’T SUBTRACT ⁣

For any nutrition strategy to be successful, I believe it’s important to take an additive approach, particularly if your strategy involves an energy deficit. ⁣

When I say “additive approach”, I’m talking about volume eating.⁣

Let’s aim to get the most bang for our buck with our calorie targets - consuming the greatest amount of food possible so that we feel full & satiated all day long, lessening some of the negative effects, particularly the psychological ones, that can come with energy deficits 😓⁣

Volume eating simply means eating greater quantities of foods that are of lower caloric density. And I’m not talking about low-cal substitutes of high-cal foods — I’m talking the entire damn rainbow of fruit & veg 🌈⁣

By loading up our meals & snacks with fruit & veg that are high in fibre & water content, we can consume a maximum amount of food with a fairly low caloric value. Not to mention the other benefits - increased micronutrient intake, greater variety of nutrient intake, plus all the benefits that each of those micronutrients provide ✨⁣

This is also an excellent strategy for managing appetite whilst dieting, particularly when calorie targets are at the lower end of the scale 🥗⁣

This is a prime example why I think filming your top set lift on the odd exercise is very important. It lets you see stuff that you can’t see whilst performing the move, things like tempo, depth etc. Here I’m leg pressing 380KG for 14 reps this morning but looking back at this video my depth isn’t good enough. Yes my legs felt fucked after and yes my quads were on fire but I needed to take it slightly deeper. Not a great deal deeper but certainly deeper and by filming and looking back at this set it’s enabled me to see that and allows me to reevaluate and come back next week and hit that depth perfect with this weight. Don’t be afraid to get your phone out and film a top set, it could help you improve so much in the long run 💪🏋️‍♂️

It’s kinda crazy that what you see on social media is just a lil snippet of someone’s life. I hope you guys remember that before judging, comparing, etc. that this app is a highlight reel! People want to share their best moments, myself included. I try to share real life shit with you guys because we ALL go through it sometimes and not enough people talk about it. With all of the info out there these days, it’s not easy to know what to do when it comes to nutrition 🤔

The best strategy is to keep things as simple as possible - oh and avoid crazy diets, cleanses and “fat loss” products 🙄
.
How much you eat will determine whether you gain or lose weight. If you’re in a caloric deficit, you’ll lose - in a caloric surplus, you’ll gain
.
WHAT you eat doesn’t matter too much. You can eat McDonald’s all day and lose weight. You can eat ice cream all day and lose weight - problem is that it’s hard to be in a caloric deficit when eating so many calorie dense foods
.
Let’s say you stay in a deficit while eating crap - you’ll lose weight, yes - but you’ll feel like shit
.
All calories are not equal. Whole foods contain important vitamins and micronutrients that junk foods do not
.
SO...if you want to lose weight - eat less than you burn
.
If you want to feel great - eat great quality food
.
If you want BOTH - well you know what to do 😏
.

Spring break 2k20 is right around the corner.

I know many people are just now getting on their fitness grind and starting their exotic, and extreme diet plan that will allegedly have them down 20 lbs in two weeks.

I’m here to let y’all know not to buy into the hype. Healthy weight loss is about 1-2 lbs per week, and that weight loss isn’t created by doing something extreme like only ingesting carrot juice, skipping meals, or having meal replacement shakes multiple times a day.

Understanding that all food = fuel is imperative. Also, having an understanding as to what quantities of food for your goal that will help with weight loss is vital. Exercise + food will always yield results. Don’t buy into the ‘quick fix’ hype. Get educated and find what your body truly needs in order to reach your goal, safely and sustainably.
