Feeling like you have no time to work out? I’m feeling the holiday hustle, too!

But of course you know how important it is to squeeze in exercise, to give you energy and stress relief during this busy time of year. Not to mention, it’s a great way for your body to use those yummy cookies and other seasonal foods! 😉 And you know how good you’ll feel for having done it.

Sing out the following exercises to the tune of “The 12 Days of Christmas” and after a light cardio warm-up, do as many rounds as you can (safely and with good form) in 20 minutes. Rest whenever needed!
Those shuttle runs (or jogging in place if you don’t have room) will get you ready for airport dashes, or sprinting to score savings at your favourite stores. Step ups (option to hold dumbbells or heavy shopping bags) will get you ready for navigating stairs with luggage or shopping (or both!) in tow. Pushups to “push up” your assets in V-neck holiday shirts…jumping jacks just because…and 1 full burpee (including a full push up in the middle, done from the knees or on an incline if needed) with a jump at the end because what other exercise rhymes with “partridge in a pear tree”? Tag your favourite elves and post your number of rounds in the comments.

Part II of our December Challenge is to “Do it with Passion”

This is super important because a lot of times we get caught up in the grind/hustle, or focus too much on the attention or income we get (or don’t get), that we forget to do things passionately. We lose our drive. Especially when you’re chasing your goals or dreams.. find your WHY.

If it’s something you LOVE and something you care about.. put that passion first in your journey!

FULL BODY WORKOUT

1️⃣ Cable bicep curls: 12 reps on each arm, 3 sets (I usually do this exercise with 20 pounds on the pulley)
2️⃣ Tricep pushdown: 13 reps, 3 sets (I usually do around 55 pounds)
3️⃣ Dumbbell deadlifts: 10 reps, 3 sets (30 pound dumbbells)
4️⃣ Dumbbell rear delt raise: 12 reps, 3 sets (15 pound dumbbells)
5️⃣ Standing oblique crunch: 20 on each side, 3 sets (50 pound kettlebell)
6️⃣ Goblet squats with elevated heels: 12 reps, 3 sets (35 pound kettlebell)
7️⃣ Cardio (not included): High incline elliptical for 15 mins

This program is out of my comfort zone... But I know that one of my fave ways to work a sweat AND unwind at the same time is by blending different types of workouts. So blending Barre, Pilates, Cardio, and Interval Training with this new program is going to be the PERFECT way! So I am trying something new, and I’m so in love with the diverse options already!⁣

Are you ready for a fresh start? Are you ready to take back 30 minutes a day refocusing on YOU and your health in order to be your BEST self? I know I am!⁣

👖I can fit into all my old jeans and the options are limitless. 👖

It’s been probably 3 years since this has happened. I hadn’t even tried most of my jeans on until after I had Grayson a few months ago and they couldn’t even fit over my hips. WHATSOEVER.
_
After years of strict dieting, stupid restrictions of “bad” food, developing eating disorders, unhealthy amounts of time spent in the gym..... I feel like I’m finally getting it right and I’ve ditched all those old mistakes.
_
I didn’t make this a goal this postpartum fitness journey. I didn’t make a number on the scale a goal. I wanted to gain back muscle I’ve lost over this past year and then eventually building more muscle soon.
_
I’ve been keeping it simple by tracking food or eating until I’m full, 45-60 minutes in the gym, and enjoying making memories with family and having some holiday treats here and there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been keeping it simple by tracking food or eating until I’m full, 45-60 minutes in the gym, and enjoying making memories with family and having some holiday treats here and there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haven’t posted an ab circuit in a while because I hate training them 🥵 Not only are abs/obliques my weakest muscles, but I tend to hold almost allllll my fat there so training them can be a lil uncomfortable 🥴 These exercises are my fave ones though!! They kinda leave me w a mini ab pump after too 😏

Are dumbbells lateral raises dead?🧟‍♀️

For the lateral raise, I would argue yes. Obviously on other movements dumbbells will have their place. But when looking at this exercise specifically the dumbbell falls short!

Why are dumbbells not optimal for lateral raises?❌

A dumbbell creates a less favourable resistance profile for the delts due to the weight of the dumbbell being heaviest at the top of the exercise. This is because the length of the moment arm is greatest here, meaning we feel the weight the most when your muscle is at its weakest in its shortened position. If we are being picky, this is not how we want the profiles to look!❌

So why are cables better?✅

When working with cables (with the optional cuffs) the load is heaviest through the mid-range of exercise. Due to the line of force being open to manipulation on a cable stack. With dumbbells, the line of force is dictated by gravity and is not adjustable.🏋️‍♀️

The cables resistance profile also fits more effectively with the strength profile of the muscle. As there is a slight drop off in resistance in the shortened range due to the moment arm getting smaller.👌

I program these for my clients as the go to deltoid exercise. Couple this with a strong overhead press variation and your shoulders will respond!👌

I've got "Into the Unknown" stuck in my head this morning. Even with teenagers in our home, Disney movies and songs still take over. They DJ our car rides, and both versions of "Into the Unknown" get played back-to-back.
Life is full of unknowns. Sometimes that can be such a scary thing, but it can also be exciting! I'm looking for adventure on the horizon, and I know God has good plans for me and for you!
Working out has always been a bit of an unknown for me in a scary way. Since my surgery though, getting back into fitness and seeing my body recover has been my current adventure that replaced fear.
Are you fearful of what people might think? Are you worried about failing? People think things all of the time, and more times than not, they will be encouraging. There is no failure in moving forward. A little movement in a new direction is still progress!

CARDIO | Love it or hate it, it needs attention.

I don’t like long distance anything. I don’t much like running in any form other than that which involves a ball of some kind. But that doesn’t mean I neglect it.

Muscle #1 is the heart and because we can’t see it in the mirror, it tends not to be at the forefront of our thinking. Cardiovascular health is paramount for a long, fruitful existence on this earth. Like any other muscle, exercise it, and it gets stronger. Look after it.

I give it a good working over in most sessions I do, but of late it’s been getting a little more prescribed work ahead of 2020, not just for the health benefits, but for performance.

This is stage 2 of my lung expansion, increasing work periods from 60 to 90 seconds. At this juncture it’s about learning what I’m capable of currently, collecting data and finding my pace. As I progress through the programme I will be challenging my numbers, always looking to add value. Pleased with my work rate both physically and mentally with these so far. Hungry for upgrades on all fronts.

@better.booties @aubrieb Do you workout solo or with someone else? You can do this workout either way! Usually I’m alone, but @gabsfit15 wanted to do legs together so this is what developed. It was TOUGH, despite the footage in the first video 😂 my calves are especially sore! Enjoy doing this workout this week, know God loves you, and REST WHEN YOU’RE DONE! Oh and I finished my Christmas tree 😈 .

15 wall balls.

100 calf raises while your partner holds an air squat (see first video), then swap.

Started my morning with Day 1 of my new Barre program.

I thought I’d hate this type of workout because there is no intensity, heavy lifting, burpees and fast cardio...but I’ve decided that at #31WeeksPregnant I guess low intensity is where I need to be right now! Plus when you have to balance, it’s actually much harder!.

What kind should you use? When to use them? Do I need them?

The answer is...Y E S! Here’s a few reasons why:
1. They’re for all fitness types..light medium, and heavy resistance to fit everyone’s needs.
2. They help activate a muscle group before lifting to ensure that group is ready to lift and already has good blood flow!
3. Spark a mind to muscle connection which believe it or not is INSANELY important!
4. They target smaller muscle groups that might not fully activate during standard compound lifts!
5. Help fatigue the glutes before the quads and hamstrings burn out first!
.
Glutes are a very large muscle group and need to be worked hard! Adding resistance is a great, simple, and insanely effective way to burn the booty 😍🔥🍑
.
Bands are by @cristinacapron & I typically always add an abduction to glute lifts to help remind my quads to shut up & let my glutes take over 😛

What’s the scariest movie you’ve ever seen?! As a child, I watched Sixth Sense almost every weekend...I was weird lol BUT I have to say, movies from the Insidious or The Conjuring sets have to be top. FYI Midsommar SUCKED. Hope you bookmark this workout and try it out this week for ALL THE PUMP! Know God loves you and REST WHEN YOU’RE DONE!

12 DB alternating front raise immediately into MAX reps lateral raise.

8 alternating I’s
10 diamond push-ups against bench.

10 narrow grip chest press immediately into 10 wide shoulder press.
