My good friend @busymozier posted recently about the peculiarity of other’s perceptions. Sometimes I think my own understanding of Self can be vastly different than the image I convey to the world. Most of the time I feel I am actively fighting stereotypes of being “just a pretty face” or, at the very least, “a female in a man’s sport”. Sadly, society is often blindly conditioned and woefully unaware of the existence - however subtle! - of their sexist notions. However, I don’t fight to disprove stigmas for the narrow minds who believe in such simple capabilities of a woman. Instead, I work hard to be taken seriously for my skill while aspiring to inspire other women to do the same. Sometimes even women themselves can become ensnared in believing these stereotypes. It’s important to me that women know they can be more. You can’t force a change in other’s perception (only the person looking through the lens can ultimately decide to change their angle), but you CAN unapologetically own who you are and work to inspire others to do the same! 🖤

Happy #MotivationMonday friends! Prep is hard...mentally, physically and definitely emotionally as well. Here are my check in photos from Friday... Yes, I look lean, but all my prep brain saw were things to work on and problem areas. I WAS NOT happy with this check in by any means. My weight was up, from the prior week, my bloating was seemingly out of control, and I just felt overwhelmed with that knowledge. I was mentally exhausted from work and everything going on to get ready for my first show, physically exhausted from a lack of sleep while adjusting to a new fasted cardio routine, and emotionally exhausted from being so disappointed in the lack of progress I saw knowing I was giving 💯. ************************************************************ Instead of throwing in the towel and feeling sorry for myself, I used that disappointment as fuel to push harder this week and every single week, day, hour, minute until show day. I trusted in my coach, we made some adjustments to get me feeling good again and today I woke up a lean mean machine 😂🙌🏽 It’s easy to be motivated by progress, but it’s the times when we’re feeling lowest that we really need to dig deep and use that negative energy as fuel to push ourselves further! ************************************************************ Motivation isn’t something we should have on Monday’s, it’s a muscle we should work daily. I hope you all had a wonderful start to your week, and if not, there is always tomorrow to start fresh! We’ve got this! I think I like them ...I also worked on ATG with heavier weight
95x10, 135x10, 155x10, 185x6
Front squats
95x10, 135x10, 155x8 ( I was legit choking myself out with the bar 😂😂😂I need to calm down with that ..but at least I know I was keeping it up and secure)
Landmine jumping things ..we tried a couple different variations before we decided on the one in the video. 4x10
Single leg sumo leg press 3x10 each side
3 rounds Kai lunges (15 down 15 back) tri/set with adductor and abductor machines ( 15/15)
Leg extension 10 fast , 10 slow
Lying leg curl 2 legs up 1 leg down . So 2 weeks ago I learned I wasn’t bracing correctly...fixed it... this week I learned I’m not loading up my ligaments and joints and I’m using brute strength... which sounds cool except for it isn’t ... so we’re working on that lol
that being said I got 235 today and the numbers are steadily climbing. Can’t wait to see what it looks like when I finally learn how to squat 🙂

Este ejercicio es la muerte. Cuando vi que @eilincastano lo hacia, me pareció interesante intentarlo y wow! Entendí el por qué de sus glúteos y piernas perfectas. Intenten este ejercicio la próxima vez que trabajen glúteos. Yo tengo que dejarlo para el final por que después de esto, ya no puedo dar ni una más. •

For me it’s not about prancing around in cute workout gear, or taking the “perfect” picture with my abs looking just right. It’s about feeling my body getting stronger every day. It’s about pushing my body to limits that I don’t even know I’m capable of. .

As women, I feel like it’s so hard to keep our eyes focused on ourselves and not constantly compare what we’re doing to everyone else’s journey. Social media screams at us to try to be the prettiest, skinniest, most popular, make the most money, and have the best friend group. To heck with that! I’m gonna keep posting myself making these ugly faces lifting these heavy weights!! ✌🏼. .

Skipped my workout this morning and slept in a bit. Buttttt.....knowing that my challengers were counting on me, and hating to break a streak, I decided to tackle barre workout week 7, day 1 this evening. (NOT a fan of working out at night, by the way. Not even a little bit! 😅).

Turns out I have two #stage5clingers who want to do everything I do, so they joined me. And while we were a little squished for space and they had 19363 comments and questions for everything 😅, we got it done.
.
The best part was when Brylie said, “mom, I want to be just like you when I grow up. A strong workout-er. I love being healthy.” .
Mission accomplished. #teachthemwhiletheyareyoung

DO YOU HAVE A SUPPORT SYSTEM? ⁉️⁉️
Let me tell you where this guy and I are right now!
Mr.Baby has always been a decent sleeper and pretty independent when he plays but lately he’s been having some separation anxiety. He also gets really upset when I leave him at the kid care at the gym.👶 Hubs and I have been trying to figure out how to handle this! So the last couple of days we’ve been sitting by his crib, holding his hand and patting him and that seems to be all he wants! He doesn’t fight the sleep and once he’s asleep he sleeps all night. We are meeting him where he needs us and trying to support him as he goes through a ton of development - walking, talking 👨‍👩‍👦❤️
....
And then there’s me! Two weeks ago I was almost 200 lbs. more than what I weighed when I had a human inside me. I haven’t mentioned that number here since I restarted my journey because it seems insane. Saying it now brings tears to my eyes. I’ve never been that weight. Im so scared of what I’ve done to myself. How did I let it get to this point? How long am I going to use motherhood as an excuse? Honestly never again. I want to live true to what neils onesie says! Like my son, I am also going through a ton physically and mentally and it’s so so hard to get through every single day knowing none of my clothes fit me. I’ve not bought larger clothes because I do not want to get comfortable in this body. I’ve never needed my hand to be held and now I need it more than ever! And Mr.Daddy who’s such a great dad is also my biggest supporter! Like we are helping Neil at this tough and exciting age, he has been helping me overcome my demons! And I love him for that because I’ve dealt with relationships where I’ve been made to feel like my appearance was never good enough.

The competition this weekend is going to be awesome! A lot of my friends & lifters from Iron are competing & i can’t wait to be there to watch & support!! Determination, focus, dedication....it takes all of that, but the most important thing you need is a love for what you do! If you don’t love what you do then what’s the point? I’m the happiest I’ve been in many years and my love for fitness just increased through all of the tough times. I came out the other side of that mess into this amazing place I am now and I will tell you I would go through it all over again to get to where I am now in my life. I’m a stronger mom both mentally and physically and I have some pretty wonderful people in my life right now to help me remain strong. 🥰 Hearing how proud my son is of me from his own mouth makes everything I’m doing worth while! So if you are going through something right now, don’t worry because your happiness on the other side is waiting for you, too and let me tell you dammit it feels good so wait it out babe!!! You got this!

Vraag je af of dat de mensen zijn waarop je je op dat moment mee wilt omringen. .

Let them GO! Zorg ervoor dat je een omgeving creëert waarin je jezelf kan zijn. Een omgeving met like&open-minded people die naar jou luisteren en je proberen te begrijpen. Dat betekent niet dat ze het altijd met je eens zijn, maar wel dat ze het vermogen hebben om zich in jou te kunnen verplaatsen.👈🏼 .

the same coach that is helping me crush this prep is also the same coach that i emailed out of desperation one year prior

lemme paint that picture for ya:
.
▪️MAY 2018: i graduated college with my BS in food & nutrition
▫️SUMMER 2018: had a few jobs in the field but nothing pulled at my heart strings
▪️FALL 2018: decided to dive fully into the coaching business i created 3 years prior
▫️WINTER 2018: client inquiries were the most i ever had! #blessed but also #overwhelmed with the amount of programs i was creating, this left me completely brain drain by the time i tried to get my own workout in
▪️JAN 2019: my workouts were dreadful and i hated being in the gym. but, i hated that feeling even more so i emailed @alexbush__ feeling lost and desperate for some direction 😩
.
and that my friends, was the beginning of this journey back to the stage
.
i was just a “lifestyle client” but walking into the gym knowing exactly what my mission was for that workout started to bring me a different sense of confidence
.
knowing i had a coach, someone giving me their time and effort, naturally made me more accountable. & before i knew it, i felt stronger than ever before
.
physically, yes. but mentally, the strength that started to form from having clarity in the gym, seeing myself progress again + feeling confident in myself & my efforts was incredible!
.
FAST FORWARD ⏭ MAY 20919: a certain NPC show caught my eye and the itch that i faintly felt since leaving the stage in ‘16 was so intense i couldn’t ignore it any longer
.
i knew i was ready. i knew that if there was ever a “perfect time” to compete again, it was now
.
the reason i felt so confident in making this decision was because i took that first step with Alex
.
i share this bc i know asking for help can feel scary or embarrassing.. like HELLO - this is my JOB yet i needed help?! i felt like a fraud!
.
but investing in a coach, even as a lifestyle client who didn’t have any big goals at the time, taught and showed me how powerful & transformative committing to yourself one day at a time can be
.
the first step is always the hardest but, if i never took that step i don’t think i’d be stepping back on stage this year🦋
