    Is your need to be PERFECT harming you?💛
I know mine is. It’s been a while since I shared something so personal on here, but I hope it will help others come to a similar realisation🌸✨

To be 100% honest, the past few months have been a real struggle for me. It could even be years now, I lose track. 
I don’t like whingeing about diabetes, it doesn’t benefit me or anyone else. I know it’s a condition that will always come with it’s daily struggles + that’s something I need to accept + make the most of (which I try my best to do!)🙏🏼
BUT for the need to be the ‘perfect’ diabetic, I’ve been unintentionally (or intentionally? Not sure) running my blood glucose levels far too low. And feeling terrible physically + mentally for it. .
Looking at my glucose data last night, I realised I was sitting BELOW the normal range 42% of the time. Above it less than 1% of the time. I‘ve wasted hours a day lying on my floor with no energy, had to stop training, avoided leaving the house at times. I would put myself through a lot of agony + misery just to avoid the potential of going high...

WHY NINA?! You might ask. It started when I was diagnosed with #type1diabetes ~ it was drilled into me that highs were ‘bad’, would lead to complications or meant I wasn’t trying. My brain took that as ‘the lower the better’...last year I made an appointment with a diabetes educator to express my concern about too many hypos. I was PRAISED for it + told I had the ‘best’ control they’d ever seen. I walked out of the hospital in tears. I knew they were wrong but it strengthened my subconscious beliefs.

After many chats with @mindfuldiabeticrobby + other loved ones, I’ve decided: This is self harm. I’m not willing to risk my LIFE, health + sanity, and let diabetes run + ruin my life, just to stay in my comfort zone of constant lows + have the lowest A1c possible⭐️
.
Heck I have far lower BGs than a non-diabetic!
.
I PLEDGE to myself to go easier on myself + take better care of myself. To STOP aiming for the unattainable #goal of perfection, and yes, run my levels a little higher to stay safe.

Sometimes, being LESS PERFECT is the HEALTHIER thing to be❤️
