Think success, don’t think failure. The mantra of believe in yourself is the premise of this book.

This book is really a tutorial of how to respond positively to events with mini stories describing how other people have handled both negative and positive events in their lives. This gives the reader a clear understanding of how to approach similar situations with good advice. Of course “you can’t move mountains” but believe in yourself and your abilities and you will climb a mountain of doubt. Because, if you do not believe in yourself you are more likely will not succeed. .

I have always believed that to succeed in anything you have to have confidence in yourself. The more confidence you have within you the more other people will believe in you. Don’t suffer from fear is another mantra the author discusses which is I believe is a common feeling we all have when it comes to our ability to try new things. We fear failure more, partly because of the unknown and what other people might think about us. I have written about this subject because I feel we are all capable of achieving what we want. Sometimes we just need to understand that fear is only temporary when we start to take action. When we confront our fear head-on the more likely we will gain confidence in ourselves to tackle similar situations in the future. .

What I would say which I feel the author doesn’t express is that as humans we have the tendency to set our expectations to high and when things don’t pan out the way we expected them to we can get disillusioned and often depressed. I am not saying you should not aim high or set your goals high, but sometimes things are not always in our control. So we have to learn to aim high, but always remember that not everything is going to go our way.

This book is worth keeping and re-reading. David J. Schwartz says “Got a good idea? Then do something about it!”

Oxford Bookstore on Park Street has been a haunt for more than two decades. It was my statutory stop after every lunch at BarBQ or Mocambo; my go to place from St. Xavier's College when I needed to kill a few hours between classes; my address for endless browsing and occasional buying.
You can imagine my delight therefore to find 'Kalkatta Chronicles' there, ensconced smack in the middle of many celebrated covers in their Calcutta section.

Shock, I used my late start at work to go and find a cosy reading spot in a cafe 🤷🏻‍♀️ p.s. Helen Oyeyemi's writing is so elegant and intriguing, I recommend reading her ✨ #igersoxford

The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot! (hardcover) •
He’s big. He’s funny. He’s not real. Or IS he? This clever twist on “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is told from the point of view of an unexpected narrator and, through snappy text and lighthearted illustrations, demonstrates the value of telling the truth, the importance of establishing trust, and (of course!) the possibility that a beast you created to get attention can become a real-life friend.

    Author: Nicola Yoon
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
Absolutely loved this book, it was really interesting and I loved how there were multiple plot twists in the story, that I'm not going to spoil for anyone reading this because you should really go read the book. I haven't yet watched the movie but I usually find that the movies are never as good as the book. Anyone else agree? I'm looking forward to reading her next book. 5/5 stars. 12+ years.

#goodreads

    All set up!

Day 1 of 3 at two connected teacher conferences in Pärnu.
Let’s see if some good school connections open up.

Only best-selling British #author living in Estonia, after all.

.
MAHABBAH (Kisah Cinta Layla Majnun & Yusuf Zulaikha)
.

So how many of us have gone through hell? Literal hell? Yes trauma is a trauma but have you seen people go through real terrible shit life can throw but still they go on with life with the glimmer of hope that one day everything will be alright or do they accept and still count life is a blessing as such and live.
Elenor is the most extraordinary character I have ever read. When was the last time a book gave you hope. A hope that the world is filled with genuine nice people. People who say what the mean. People who aren’t pretentious. People who care without to gain anything in return. When life has tried to burn you down but still she rose from the ashes. She is truly an institution and inspiration to me. #indianbookblogger #booksofinstagram #books#somanybooks #goodreads #goodreadschallenge #epicreads #elanoroliphant #gailhoneyman#eleanoroliphantiscompletelyfine

Buona lettura!

Indeed, it is strange how we spend eight hours of a day elevated off the ground in different stages of consciousness: delirium, reveries, paralysis, deep sleep; the fluttering and darting of the eyes under the membrane of our eyelids during REM. Perhaps it’s as close to a coma as we will ever come. Curious and strange how the demagogues of the world still need to sleep, too. And while they are sleeping, at least, in those moments of stillness and arrested brain functioning they are doing no harm to the world...momentarily, we are spared their snake tongues.
