This one will probably stay on a weekly rotation in order to top off the last 3 cups of veggies for the day (asparagus for dark green, cauliflower for sulfur and brined carrots for deeply colored) in the @fedandfit Korean bowl with ground turkey. Little scoop of vegan mayo for fat source. Another successful day of macros + Wahls protocol diet phase 1 and my cravings are lessening. I wanted fruit snacks I keep in my car for the kids multiple times today (I work out of my car), but I resisted! .

This time last year I had my Apple watch for around one month. The rings to be filled daily were starting to get to me. I’m very much a “check the box” type person. I began to make sure I filled them 3x a week even if it meant doing exercise in my kids bedroom floor before bedtime during play time. .

It soon began to warm up and I told myself I would start filling them 5x a week by walking before I picked them up from daycare. I had no access to a gym unless I wanted to drive even further out of my way and put them in more childcare after they had been in that all day already. I soon got a kettlebell and kept it in my trunk and would do exercises in this cute park and walk the other days. I began to look forward to it and told myself I could not go get the kids until my exercise rings were filled. This went on until I began to fit it in 7 days a week. (Current all 3 filled streak is 296 days) Then walking began to get to easy so I began to run. I ran a half marathon in October of the same year. .

A year later I still come to this park and run all over the small town. I usually do weights at home now. 2018 was my year of dietary eliminations and baselining my health again after my second baby. 2019 was about commitment to exercise. And 2020 is still a continuation but now seeing if I can become more plant based and see if my health and weight further improve. .

I say all that to conclude with this: every one has to start somewhere. Starting is the hardest part. Forgoing your excuses is hard too. Stop complaining and start doing. Where there is a will, you CAN find a way.

I didn’t know how badly the girl on the left needed healthier habits in her life.
If I’m being honest, I thought I was pretty healthy eating my Smart Ones and Lean Cuisines, and having my 100 calorie snack pack for dessert. #no

But the truth is I was about 20 pounds overweight, losing my breath playing with my son, uncomfortable in almost every social setting, especially the ones where pictures would be taken.
My life has changed in so many ways from where it was on the left.
I joined an online accountability group to lose weight.
Plain and simple.
I never imagined that I actually would.
Im a recovering skeptic 🙋🏻‍♀️
What I certainly didn’t expect to gain was a whole different outlook on LIFE.
I used to think if I couldn’t workout for two hours a day and survive on 1000 calories a day that there was no hope for me.
I’m so thankful every day that I’ve found a lifestyle of balance.
I move my body every day for 30 minutes because it feels good. NOT to punish myself for something I ate.
I follow a nutrition plan that has taught me portion control all while enjoying my favorite foods from ALL food groups including wine and chocolate 🍫🍷 #ultimateportionfix
But my favorite part is knowing that I didn’t do this alone.
I’m never alone because my ladies in my accountability group inspire me daily, and I do the same for them.
I share my journey in the hopes that if you were like me, feeling that you are drowning in a sea of unhappiness with who you are-just know that you were made for more and it’s not supposed to feel like that. ❤️ If you don’t want to go it alone, the best part is you don’t have to.

So day one of attempting the “Wahl’s protocol” .

It’s not much different than what I ate anyways but the focus is now me eating wayyyyyy more plants than ever. 3 cups of leafy greens, 3 cups of deep colored fruits or veggies and 3 cups of sulfur veggies. In addition to being gluten/dairy/egg/refined sugar free. .

Breakfast was a whopping 32oz smoothie with spinach, riced cauliflower, collagen proteins, nutritional yeast, frozen berries, a clementine, almond milk and some water. I need a bigger cup. Plus some shredded lime chicken on the side. .

Lunch was a salmon burger, teriyaki coconut aminos, rice, spinach, brined carrots and sautéed mushrooms plus my usual chicken salad. I have only had a few protein crackers and Kind fruit bar as snacks. .

I’m so full of fiber I’m guessing but no major cravings or sleepiness. My macros aligned with what i was doing anyways plus my vitamin A, C and calcium intake are off the charts. The goal is to flood my body with the vitamins it needs so my cells (mitochondria and ATP) run top notch and repair themselves and free radicals are washed out by antioxidants. These vitamins sourced from food is way better than from synthetic supplements. Dinner is to be chicken tacos, guacamole and a big salad. .

I’m excited to see what becomes of all this over the new few weeks and for my @misfitsmarket madness box to arrive so I can try and thrive in all things fruits and veggies.

Don’t you agree?!! I am in love with this part of our office reno 💕 I mean, how can you see it and NOT want to smile 😀. And speaking of smiles, I find such joy in helping patients keep a healthy smile! Dental health can touch so many parts of our lives and we often take it for granted. The mouth really is the window into the health of your overall body. There are many conditions that are linked to infection in the mouth: diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, pregnancy complications, etc. Those bugs are bad news!! Keep your dental appointments!! Visits with your hygienist are soooooo much more than “just a cleaning”. Not a pretty run - literally and figuratively, but I got out and ran, so that’s a “win”: ran 8/walked 2 for ~32 minutes, plus ~5 minutes each side for warm up/cool down.
Not every run will be epic or zen or fabulous, but runners run, so get out there and get some miles on those pretty running shoes, friends!

Puedes proponerte mil cambios, objetivos o metas; perder peso, hacer ejercicio, comer más saludable, dejar de fumar, sacar al perro siempre a la misma hora… Todo genial y maravilloso, pero si no tienes un cambio de mentalidad y de corazón primero no vas a llegar lejos.
Pregúntate para qué quieres cambiar, no por qué.
Permítete días malos y no te compadezcas por no haber avanzado lo que te hubiera gustado porque habrá momentos de dificultad de los que te vas a reponer seguro. Haz algo que promueva el cambio que quieres AHORA.
- La verdadera locura es hacer siempre las mismas cosas y esperar un resultado diferente - Esa es de Einstein.
Si no cambias tu mentalidad o tus creencias no mantendrás tus cambios a largo plazo. Por eso sal del bucle ese de: Estoy cansada, no me apetece cocinar, me como cualquier cosa que piyo, mi cuerpo no se nutre, por lo que no tengo energía, mi ánimo se viene abajo, me cabreo conmigo misma y pago con el mundo la mierdis que yo no sé gestionar…
Si tomas responsabilidad de tu vida, de lo mejor y lo peor que hay en tu vida en este momento, de tus acciones y de tu gestión y avanzas desde ese punto de aceptación verás que el bucle se convierte en espiral. - Estoy cansada, busco una receta rápida y saludable, me la como con gusto por que me he esforzado en pos de mi salud, mi cuerpo se nutre y tiene más energía, mi ánimo se viene arriba porque he hecho un cambio positivo por mí misma y ya no me apetece ladrarle al mundo por el día tan gris que hace.

To say that I am flawed is an understatement♥️ Yesterday I carb over-ate and hated myself for it🤢 I have started back up “running” (in quotes because I’m slower than a 3 legged turtle🐢 going uphill in molasses in the winter🤣) but nonetheless I’m trying. I feel better when I run. I feel accomplished and less of a damn failure in my life. .

I have forgotten to put some “me time” in my day. My “running” is my “me time” it is what calms my mind. It is what sticks in the back of my head everyday whether I run or not. It is what makes me feel good.

SOOOO...today I felt crappy for eating so shitty that I came home from work and ate crap and sat around feeling horrible because my food choices make me FEEL horrible. Then I got over myself and got my chubby little butt on the dreadmill and it was a BAD run (which is exactly what I was expecting) but I DID IT 💪🏻 and I feel so much better. I am flawed...but that’s ok because I am working to be better. .

Workout - - 5 minute walk there - 15 mins cross trainer - Diverging seated row 23kg : 5 x 4reps
- 10kg Sandbag cleans: 15reps and 15 squats (not weighted) X 3 - Hip abduction 25kg - 3 x 8reps. - Hip Adduction 27.3kg - 3 x 8reps. - Seated Dip 25kg - 3 x 10reps
- Seated Dip 32kg - 3 x 5reps. - walk home.

It’s a rest day for running and a day off from work, so I was able to enjoy a rare midday Pilates Reformer class; glutes, hips, and abs are spent. So last week was a good week 🤩🤩🤩 Although I’ve listed a 2lbs weight loss first, I’m actually more pleased that I’ve stuck to my new eating habits & smashed a personal best at my run than I am the scale weight!! This is KEY 👌🏻 Scales doesn’t tell you everything and it’s not the be all and end all! Don’t let them dictate your mood and take the shine off your other achievements 🏅

Lunch was the same as dinner last night - Rachael's Rice using what was left in the fridge 😂 Bacon, Chicken Slices, Chorizo, Pepper, Onion, Garlic, Rocket and Carrot cooked in tomato puree, oregano and paprika with a little water finished with some egg scrambled in, a glug of sesame oil and some cheese. Sounds like a really odd mix but it was actually lovely! 🙈

For the last 70ish days or so I’ve been following a pretty rigid skin routine. I bought these three products from the “countertime” collection from beautycounter. Now although my forehead wrinkles are still there ( I mean I think only Botox will fix that 😂), I love the way these products work together! My skin feels so plumped and hydrated after each use. Also—the Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence is basically the best smell ever. Most importantly, I look forward to my nightly routine. Dealing with clogged sink and washing machine pipes and knocked over mop buckets and water everywhere and the chaos that comes along with it has got me feeling tired and wanting to escape. To the beach. With the sun tanning my skin. Warm sand under my feet. And there are no bad days in Cabo, right?! But the disaster has been contained and all of the towels have been washed, dried, folded and maybe they still need to be put up. The silver lining you ask...the remainder of the week can only get better from here!
Meal prep is done and the bedtime alarm is set and scrubs are washed and hung in a row and my workouts are ready and waiting!

My Sunday started out strong. Work out 🏋🏻‍♀️ breakfast ☕️🍳 and clean the house 🧼. I was planning to get some other random stuff done around the house until I started to feel like a train ran me over🚞 💀

It’s so easy in this day and age to rush around and get ALL of the things done, to go go go and never feel like you got everything you wanted to check off your mile long checklist. All while neglecting your body and your needs.
That’s exactly what I felt today. So instead of pulling through and doing all the random stuff around the house. I listened to my body and relaxed. The checklist will always be there to get done but you only have one body.

Honor. Respect. Listen. To your body and it will thank you

First session back since Christmas and the new year.
A little bit of weight gain and feeling a little pudgy but it’s been great to get back at it!
I’m ready to get back into a routine, got a @hellofreshuk box to try out this week, so that’s meal preparation sorted and hopefully a few new tasty meals to try.

Hi all! It’s been a while. What’s new?

Did you know that Allergy Girl Eats is my hobby and that I do this in my spare time? That is one of the reasons you may not have seen me in a while. Life and work are a lot at the moment, which means blogging takes a back seat.
___

On top of that I need a micro vacation from food allergy talk. Sometimes it can get a little too much for me and I need to take some time away. It is easy to forget that there is more to life than food allergies.

___

To make sure that balance and selfcare are not forgotten, I have also made a conscious effort to reduce time spent on my phone and on social media. This just means I may not be around as much as I have been, but rest assured I’m not going anywhere!

I've literally slept all day. I'm not sure why - I don't feel ill. But I obviously needed it.
I woke up about 3pm and made myself have a bowl of oatmeal. I'm back up and thankfully have some left over Beef Ragu in the fridge for dinner. Hopefully tommorow is more productive.

Well it’s decided to be winter again today in Tennessee so this loaded veggie beef stew and vegan cornbread (recipe by @instantloss) were the perfect combo! Both can be made in the instant pot but I opted to do the cornbread in the oven since I only have one pot. I’m thinking I need a second one 😊

Well, that was harder than I’d expected: 6 miles of 5 min running/3 min brisk walking intervals plus ~5 min either side of walking warm up & cool down. I did an out and back route and my IT band was YELLING at my on the hills on the way back; wow, is it unhappy with me. Stretching and some @rollrecovery before breakfast! #ThisisWhataRunnerLooksLike #FitAfter50 #HappyHealthyMe

I’m functional again today, so I painted her brother’s room mostly by myself while my husband hung light fixtures, but if you aren’t wearing your tracker, did it even happen??? Please, tell me, @fitbit where is your “housework” setting in “Exercise,” hmm?! I might not have taken many steps around the room, but my arms certainly felt it!

Did you know when I first started eating the way I do, I lived off turkey burgers for about 3 solid months? I literally had no idea if I could ever eat “normal” or yummy things again. Cooking is so much fun to me now and I love making awesome foods at home catered to mine and my family’s dietary needs. .

This meal makes me think and wish I were at Tybee Beach... coconut shrimp in the air fryer by @instantloss (I tested 3 different egg sub washes: flax seed, @bobsredmill egg replacer & aquafaba), homemade vegan coleslaw, crab fries, mango pepper glaze for dipping & a @youngliving Ningxia Red cherry limeade! .

Do you think God speaks to you? Do you hear your inner voice? I’ve been doing a lot of listening this week. And lots of praying. .

My inner voice was originally telling me I was not good, smart or educated enough to continue to help, influence, share, support and teach others about holistic wellness (in many aspects). I *almost* took on a big ordeal of going back to school for a nutritional certification but hit a small bump in the road at the end of the process that made me press pause. I was frustrated as to why I felt God would put this on my heart to do and pursue so strongly, just to not do it? .

I reached out to friends, family, mentors, strangers on the internet, the Bible, and colleagues and realized many things. One major one being that I don’t have to have an advanced certification (and add further stress to my life and wallet plus steal time from my family) in order to do what I want to do. I have a strong passion from my own personal experience and what I see day to day in home health as a physical therapist, plus my own reading and research to be able to share with you all. I realized I can still help, support, cheer on, empathize, coach, influence, motivate, and teach just being me- the girl who never thought she could do what I’m doing. While the idea of making this a full time career one day is nice, it’s not in the cards right now for me. I’m not ruling it out but I’m just pressing pause. .

Have you ever almost went through with something you thought was the thing to do and it didn’t happen, yet you learned something so important from that whole experience? .

It’s amazing to me how God works and His lessons He teaches us. It’s amazing how He puts things on my heart to share and from now on I just will share them. I will share everything I know that can truly help someone because even if I don’t know exactly who, when or what that is, it’s happening and I didn’t even know it.

I was frustrated as to why I felt God would put this on my heart to do and pursue so strongly, just to not do it? .

I reached out to friends, family, mentors, strangers on the internet, the Bible, and colleagues and realized many things. One major one being that I don’t have to have an advanced certification (and add further stress to my life and wallet plus steal time from my family) in order to do what I want to do. I have a strong passion from my own personal experience and what I see day to day in home health as a physical therapist, plus my own reading and research to be able to share with you all. I realized I can still help, support, cheer on, empathize, coach, influence, motivate, and teach just being me- the girl who never thought she could do what I’m doing. While the idea of making this a full time career one day is nice, it’s not in the cards right now for me. I’m not ruling it out but I’m just pressing pause. .

Have you ever almost went through with something you thought was the thing to do and it didn’t happen, yet you learned something so important from that whole experience? .

It’s amazing to me how God works and His lessons He teaches us. It’s amazing how He puts things on my heart to share and from now on I just will share them. I will share everything I know that can truly help someone because even if I don’t know exactly who, when or what that is, it’s happening and I didn’t even know it.

2016 vs 2019
I keep getting messages daily asking how I lost a total of 60lbs and gained my confidence with such a hectic schedule, kids around me snacking on temptations daily, and everything else going on that sometimes gets in the way of us taking the best care of ourselves, so I really want to start posting something every Friday or every other Friday! It didnt happen over night, I’m not a professional or anything, and I still have so much to learn about how to properly take care of my body but I figured we can learn and grow together! 🔴Step 1 to getting closer to my goals was cutting out candy, snack cakes, all soda(even diet), and all juice. I cut my sugar for my coffee down from 3 large scoops to 2 small scoops and only drink 2-3 cups max now compared to my 6-8+ cups a day I used to have & I switched from half and half to almond milk. I started parking in the back of the parking lot so I would have to walk further when shopping, and when I’m doing laundry I take as many trips as possible up and down the stairs. It didn’t seem like much at first but I slowly started noticing myself making more and more healthier choices and looking for time and ways to get some extra exercise in!

Frühstücken ist für mich was fürs Wochenende!😊Unter der Woche habe ich einfach keine Zeit, keine Lust und meistens einfach keinen Hunger dafür. Ich stehe unter der Woche um 5.30 Uhr auf, trinke einen Kaffee, nehme mir im besten Fall einen Smoothie mit und esse erst mittags gegen 13 Uhr. Wenn ich Lust auf Porridge, Granola oder sonstiges Frühstück habe esse ich es entweder als Mittagessen oder dann abends!
