    Overtraining doesn’t give the muscles enough time to recover, and this will cause them to become significantly weaker over time. Aside from these two, however, there are many other factors which contribute towards gym and weightlifting related injuries, and the types of injuries you are prone to will largely depend on what your typical workout entails.

For example, if weight lifting and/or power lifting is a regular part of your exercise routine, you are more likely to suffer from a herniated disc due to excessive wear and tear on the spine.

With physical injuries which happen in the gym and from lifting weights, it’s important to consult with a physiotherapist to devise a personalized plan to help you recover correctly and minimise the chances of a similar injury recurring in the future. Studies have shown that the most effective method of recovery for physical injuries is physiotherapy and there is little evidence to suggest that traditional medical treatments are effective in treating injuries such as these.

    My soul for some hiking, especially on my favourite trail , Cobblers Path. I'm still on a ban and now I have bigger problems. I went to the doctor for a simple female procedure and her positioning of me pulled a muscle in my hip. That muscle seems to have trapped/pinched a nerve and I'm back to pooling nerve pain on my left side and my toes feels wet (on and off). It's also causing me shooting nerve pain in my left arm. I can't even go to the friggin doctor without hurting myself. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck..... 🤦 #nervepain #injury #ineedtoliveinabubble

    How much sleep do athletes need?

    ✖️Consistency is the key to success ✖️ In 2017 I snapped my ACL in my right knee. As soon as this happened I immediately told myself I would never dance again and it would be the end of something I love. I have since regained the strength in my right knee and am back doing what I love. I never thought I would be back dancing but I told myself that anything is possible if I just believed in myself and put in all the hard work. There’s not a day that doesn’t go by where I feel like the world is against me or I compare myself to where I used to be before my injury but I than remember I have come so far within the space of one year. The mind is a very powerful tool which will determine your success. Each day my goal is to inspire the younger generation to keep believe and pushing themselves to reach their goals 💕

    Just over 5 miles 💪🏻 oh my it was good to get out ☺️ I did 5k in under 34 minutes which I’m happy with, I then walked for a mile or so and then ran the last bit back home. Thanks @my_fitness_focus for the yoga snaps 😂

I can’t even tell you how much better I feel for getting out for a run. My foot is still tender but it’s a lot better than it was. 🏃🏻‍♀️

    Can’t believe I’m still smiling after the day I’ve had. Crazy allergic reaction to the glue used in surgery that resulted in a gnarly mini glue removal surgery with my doctor and back at it in physical therapy with my amazing @eliteorthosport family. I am so grateful to have the best team and friends who have been by my side for 2.5 years from the beginning of this injury. Today we started bending my knee for the first time - my knee feels like a rock and this next month is definitely going to be the toughest.

    Heading back to the land of bread, cheese and bike rides 😍 France, it has been wayyyy too long and I am so ready to be back 🥖 🇫🇷 The 11 hour car ride has actually come at a pretty good time - 11 hours of obligatory foot resting 😂 I’m staying away from running until I go back for another physio appointment in 2 weeks which sadly means we will have to give our Dordogne runs a rest this time 😭 Luckily, that leaves plenty of time for cycling training 🚴‍♀️ Hoping that all of this rest (and boring foot exercises) mean that I’ll still manage the Duathlon that’s in 3 weeks time... #wishfulthinking
