WORK AROUND IT IF YOU CAN/ @kingsgymofficial
—
So I tore muscle fibres in my hamstring 3 weeks ago. I haven’t been able to train legs properly throughout my recovery, no exercises that were hamstring focussed anyway. 2 weeks into my recovery I thought maybe I’ll be able to do things to work around it so my legs don’t fall behind completely. I’ve been working calves as much as I can but decided on this day I would try Leg Press and see how I feel. Things I done to try and control the situation were keep the weight relatively light at 330kg and adjust my feet position targeting my quads to try and avoid too much involvement from my hamstring.

It’s not ALWAYS possible to work around an injury but if it’s possible try and do it whenever you can...of course completely resting is also a viable option.

Excuse me while I toot my own horn, but I am SO proud of myself for keeping my routine. For some people it’s easy to keep going to the gym when they’re pregnant, for others it’s unthinkable. Both are perfectly fine. Getting out of bed and even so much as getting a good walk in your day is something to be proud of. My constant posts of gym pics and whatnot might get annoying but I don’t care - I started this workout craziness in November of last year with boxing and shifted into lifting and i couldn’t think for any reason why I would stop. Even on the bad days, getting the blood pumping and the endorphins moving has been the perfect medicine to combat all my pregnancy aches. It’s been a blessing, and truth be told, it IS a blessing that I can get up, use my legs, work my arms, be self sufficient and physically do what I love to do.
And it’s good for wee one! Nothing better than that!
I think the biggest frustration that’s hard to overlook is putting in the work and not having the satisfaction of the physical results most people push for. But the end game is the goal, and once wee one has arrived, and I get the all clear, I can work towards those results 💪🏽

Talked about elevated heel exercises yesterday with my friend Chelsea! So here’s an old video of me performing goblet squats with my heels elevated 😂 -
-
Elevating your heels will decrease ⬇️ the range of motion (ROM) at the hips and increase ⬆️ the ROM at your knees. -
-
Soooo, this can allow you to squat deeper which will recruit more muscle fibers from your quadriceps 🔥
-
Ever see squatting sneakers? They have a slight elevated heel for this exact reason. -
-
This is considered a more advanced movement since you are less stable and need more ankle mobility vs. a traditional squat. 🏋🏽‍♀️
-
Honestly, I usually only do 1️⃣ set of elevated heels when squatting but now I might incorporate it more 🤔

SQUAT as low as possible, because in LIFE if something heavy takes you down, you'll know how to get back up!

No days off squad or some days on squad?
Which one are you in?
