Missed breakfast today due to oversleeping whoops! Carnivore or keto? Which is the right diet right for you? 🤔

Keto for fat loss is great because the insanely high fats keep you full and energised. This allows you to regain control over your hunger and sustain quite a large calorie deficit quite comfortably! This is why it works well for so many people. The calorie deficit helps you lose weight easily and often without exercise. Which for the general population is perfect and all they really want/need.

Then you have people who are more athletic and want to build muscle and lose fat. Depending on what stage of your journey you are in and how much body fat you have left to lose, transitioning to more of a carnivore diet would be perfect. You get the benefits of increased protein intake while still being free to consume enough fats to feel satiated and in control of your hunger (and eating behaviours)

For a lot of these people - myself included - there comes a time where they want to push their bodies to the next level. Whether they want to get “shredded” just to look and feel good or if it’s to compete in a show or prep for a massive photo shoot or event, or start a career in the fitness industry... they want to lose as much body fat as possible but still maintain most of their lean muscle mass! This is when “lean carnivore” comes in. You switch to lean meats, consume minimal dairy, cut the butter, start tracking your calories way more seriously and force your body to tap into those fat stores. This isn’t for everyone. It isn’t necessary nor particularly “healthy” to push your body to these extremes. And you certainly shouldn’t stick to this type of diet long term in my opinion. Heath is key, and growth can’t happen without growth (aka calorie surplus)💪🏼

We need to remember we are more than what we eat and life is much more enjoyable when we aren’t dieting to extremes 🤪 take it slowly, baby steps, gradual changes, you don’t have to go from 0-100 and doing it this way will make things much more sustainable. Don’t expect results overnight and place harsh expectations on yourself! It took me 3 years to get to where I am now 😘

I used to shy away from wearing sunglasses because people always said “Oh, she is overdoing it” or “She is just showing off”. I’m sure a lot of us have heard this and has hence refrained from wearing them. I implore you to discard those comments along with your shyness and flaunt the sunglass look. It also provides an added bonus of protecting our eyes from prolonged exposure to sun. Absolutely a win-win situation from every angle! #ownit

I used to take a billion pictures and end up deleting them all or keeping a few and never posting them because I was ASHAMED of how I looked. 😔 I would cry after taking many pictures and hated myself in every one. I didn’t have any self love for myself back then and I would hide myself behind people or objects or wear big cardigans to hide myself. I would hate going out and hate taking pictures even more. 😢

Then I started my health and fitness journey and started fueling my BODY with healthy food and my MIND with personal development. I learned that as long as I move my body 30 minutes a day, fueled it with healthy food, and loved myself right now that it didn’t matter my size. Yes I am smaller now but I am not the smallest I’ve been but I’m okay with that because I’m HEALTHY! I FEEL healthy, I LOOK healthy, and I’m FREAKING HAPPY with myself! 🥰

I once thought I needed to be a certain size to love myself but I realized recently I don’t have to be a certain size I just have to love myself right now in this moment! I need to love myself enough to practice self care, move my body every day, fuel my body with healthy food that makes it feel great, and fuel my mind with positivity and personal development! 🤩

So I look at that picture on the left and realize that all that Sam had to do was love herself enough to take care of herself instead of constantly putting herself down. That’s what the Sam on the right does now, is constantly learn how to grow as a woman, friend, leader, daughter, sister, fiancé, and most important how to continue to love herself enough to take care of herself! 😍💞

Went to a wedding fare today which was amazing and did amazing at turning down all the free sweets and cake! I’d be lying if I said I don’t compare myself to others. We all would. I think it’s totally normal to compare yourself and your journey to others. The important part is that you recognize that everyone is different and what works for you is what’s best for you. Don’t let someone else’s success bring you down. Cheer them on and keep kicking ass. If I would have let someone else’s success negatively impact my journey, I would have never made it this far. Over 3 years with @ww and 80lbs down. Do some lose weight faster? Yep. I stopped weighing myself...

From a very young age, I was obsessed with my weight. I never felt comfortable in my own skin and I was always striving to look the way other girls looked. Even back in high school before I had Instagram, I would find myself comparing.

When I was a freshman and sophomore in college, I really went down a bad path of unhealthy eating and no exercise. In high school I had danced every day and didn’t need to worry about working out, and after graduating I had no idea what the loss of that activity would do to me.
.
During my junior year, I started going to the gym, running, and eating healthier. I ran a 5k for the first time in my life but was still feeling insecure about my body. And I was the thinnest I’ve ever been. Stress and my course load made me drop a bunch of weight and it wasn’t healthy. Swipe to see the two extremes I’ve battled.

3 years ago, I started to change my mindset. I stopped weighing myself, stopped obsessing over cardio, and started focusing on feeling strong and healthy. Weightlifting makes me feel incredible. And the most important thing when working out is to do something you actually enjoy! That could be running, weightlifting, tennis, hiking, whatever makes you feel good inside and out.

I think it’s completely fine to weigh yourself to track progress, but not in the way I was doing it. I occasionally weigh myself now, but it really doesn’t help my mindset. The only thing that matters is that I truly feel healthy and energized and I actually let myself eat the foods I want. I’ve learned carbs are and important part of maintaining a healthy body and that doing loads of cardio is not always the answer. I concentrate on fueling my body with healthy foods and the nutrients it needs and then using that fuel to work on building muscle!

I really hope that sharing this piece of my journey will help some of you. I want to be extremely vulnerable with you all so that you can see that we all go through these things! I hope you have a great Sunday 💕

Backsliding, stopping and starting over are all NATURAL AND EXPECTED parts of gradual lifestyle change! There is no such thing as linear progress when it comes to us humans. We fluctuate, we change, we are influenced by the waves we call life.

If you are in the middle of making changes in your life (be it fitness, food, work, anything!) and feel disheartened by not being 100% consistent or having days when when everything just fucking sucks, that’s ok! It’s part of the process! It doesn’t mean change hasn’t happened, nor does it mean you are back to square one. Does anyone else find this extremely comforting? This quote is from NASM CPT textbook and I underlined it like three times. Backsliding, stopping and starting over are all NATURAL AND EXPECTED parts of gradual lifestyle change! There is no such thing as linear progress when it comes to us humans. We fluctuate, we change, we are influenced by the waves we call life.

If you are in the middle of making changes in your life (be it fitness, food, work, anything!) and feel disheartened by not being 100% consistent or having days when when everything just fucking sucks, that’s ok! It’s part of the process! It doesn’t mean change hasn’t happened, nor does it mean you are back to square one. You are just riding the waves of change and sometimes you are on the top of the wave and sometimes deep down under.

💥Boom💥Another program finished. So excited to have finished this program feeling stronger and more mentally prepared for my next program💪🏼 I’ve finished PREP now I will WORK! Excited to continue this journey and see how I continue to grow over the next 6 weeks. I know I will see physical changes I’ve already seen some in this last 4 weeks but I am even more excited to see how this challenges and changes me mentally. .

Do you ever get them days where you feel the size you where at the start of your weightloss journey?
I’m having one of those weeks where I’m questioning whether I actually lost 2 stone or not.
I then remembered people telling me, judge it by your clothes & not the number on the scales so I came upstairs, tried a pair of mom jeans on & took a picture.
Now there’s not a huge difference but it’s coming off. If I could lose more off my boobs I’d be delighted as big boobs are overrated. CLIENT TRANSFORMATION 🌟
@_cass_ie_ and I worked together for 7 months. Her body responded well to every macro and training adjustment and she diligently implemented everything I told her. Her discipline and determination to make a change was inspiring to me.

Cassie made her health a priority and put in work day after day. With progressive overload in the gym she increased strength and built muscle while shedding body fat (the weight difference between the two photos is 39lbs). Cassie remained positive the entire time - which if you’ve ever dieted before, you know is a struggle! Once we achieved #weightloss we did a reverse diet and she is still maintaining her new physique on higher calories.

The best part about Cassie’s transformation is the LIFESTYLE & MINDSET shift that came with it. She now lives an active lifestyle (she hiked 25+ trails around Banff last summer and has taken up running since moving back to Australia) and she has a much healthier relationship with food. You may have noticed I’ve made some gigantic lifestyle and image changes over the last couple of weeks. I’ve been working my butt off to get my mental and physical health back on track. So on track in fact, I am now a qualified gym instructor and as of next week (all exams pending) will be a qualified personal trainer!
I trained as a mental health care professional previously and graduated as a music therapist, so it only seemed fitting I complete the care package and get into fitness! It’s taken a long time to get here.

Transformation Tuesday Wrist Edition😝 October 2018 to February 2020. I just recently had to move my watch band in another notch! ⁣

Along with my wrists getting smaller, I have had to get my wedding ring resized twice, and my shoe size has gone from a 8/7.5 to a 7/6.5.😱⁣

Never would I have imagined I would get excited about my wrists getting smaller😂 But visual changes like this can be so motivating!🥰⁣
