The problem is when we stay in that place unable to budge.
When we give up too soon.
When we are unwilling to try a different path.
When we are too rigid to see another viewpoint.
When we stop and pout and get angry or sad or depressed or more anxious and then project those feelings again and again.
Keep moving, keep trying, reach out to loved ones, strangers, anything that feels like a gossamer cord in the dark.
If you keep moving, you will what works.
You're not alone.
Your quiet voice is heard.
And all that's asked of you... is that you try again tomorrow.

Setiap orang pernah merasakan marah, sedih, cemas, putus asa, dan berbagai emosi negatif lainnya. Namun seberapa intens (dalam) kamu merasakannya dan seberapa sering perasaan itu muncul? Seberapa tahan kamu bisa menghadapinya? Coba perhatikan, apakah emosi-emosi negatif tersebut mengganggu atau secara signifikan mempengaruhi rutinitas dan aktivitas sehari-hari.

2. Mengalami kejadian traumatis
Berbagai kejadian yang dapat memicu trauma, seperti kematian, kecelakaan, bencana alam, perceraian, kehilangan pekerjaan, dsb. Hal ini tidak bisa disepelehkan terutama jika membuatmu sedih, cemas, takut, atau emosi negatif lain berlarut-larut, terlebih jika sudah berlangsung bertahun-tahun.

3. Mengalami gangguan kesehatan yang tidak dapat dijelaskan secara medis
Jila kamu mengalami gangguan kesehatan sperti sakit kepala, sakit perut, jantung berdebar, atau gangguan sistem imun yang terjadi berulang dan tidak dapat dijelaskan secara medis, bisa dicurigai hal ini dipengaruhi permasalahan psikologis yang berdampak pada keluhan fisik.

4. Orang-orang di sekitar tidak ada yang bisa membantumu
Terkadang orang-orang terdekat dapat memberikan solusi atas permasalahanmu. Meski begitu, kamu perlu tahu kapasitas mereka, sejauhmana mereka bisa mengerti dan memahamimu. Jika kamu merasa tak ada seorang pun yang mengerti dan peduli denganmu, kamu perlu menemui psikolog.

5. Mulai mencari pelampiasan dengan kebiasaan buruk
Ketika mengalami permasalahan yang pelik, seseorang biasanya akan melakukan sesuatu sebagai pengalihan untuk membuat rileks dan melupakan masalah sejenak. Namun alih-alih mencari pengalihan dengan sesuatu yang positif, banyak yang terjebak dengan hal-hal negatif seperti mengonsumsi rokok, miras, narkoba, judi, dsb.

Jangan biarkan berlarut-larut dan semakin parah, berkonsultasilah dengan Psikolog.

I feel emotional - opportunity to talk about these conditions on this platform might reach so many others suffering with a Body Focused Repetitive Behaviour. If I’d had information or even a name for the behaviour I couldn’t stop 20 years ago it would have been life changing, I would have sought treatment far earlier. Compulsive Skin Picking also known as Dermatillomania or Excoriation, is a complex physical and mental disorder, part of a group known as body-focused repetitive behaviors ( #BFRBs), self-grooming in which individuals pull, pick, scrape, or bite their own hair, skin, or nails, resulting in damage to the body. CBT or Habit Reversal Therapy and some medications are treatment options available through a GP. Art is my tool for recovery helping me refocus #Skinpicking & #anxiety into #advocacy for #mentalhealth. Drawing helps me rest on the page, to shift tension and refocus my hands. I create and I give my drawings away when I’m travelling and give them to passengers in the carriage around me to raise awareness and reduce stigma for mental illness and this disorder. I’m proud to be an ambassador for @thebigdraw Drawn To Life this year. I have created my free drawings on the tube & Overground in London, the New York Subway System, California’s Amtrak, San Francisco trams, BART and MUNI, and Singapore's public transport system, so far I have given away almost 17,000 of these free drawings. my mental health was never really something i thought about. ⠀

until it became debilitating and started to take over my life, affect my days, my quality of life and my relationships. ⠀

essential oils were my saving grace initially and still support me each and every day. without them, i wouldn’t have made the changes and the progress i have today - that’s for sure. ⠀

but taking a stand and making other changes in my life were vital as well. ⠀

choosing a lifestyle⠀
choosing routines and daily rituals and habits⠀
choosing healthy friendships and relationships⠀
choosing a work environment ⠀
choosing quality supplements + nourishment ⠀
choosing healing over hustling ⠀

choosing to create space in my life for things that allow me to thrive and feel the most me i’ve ever felt has been the greatest gift i could ever give myself. ⠀

i realized that choosing ME. had to be a priority, or else i’d stay in the cycle of managing .. instead of overcoming. ⠀

One of my wishes came true early this year when I was approached by some very lovely people to put together an alternative choir for adults and teens in my old town. Singing is so incredibly good for us and the support, love and friendships formed by our members is testament to the wonder of music!! 😍😍 I am so proud of this choir and can't wait to see it grow and flourish. We need one in every town! Thanks to @eastcorkmusicproject @christianbest17 and @nicolemaguireireland for including us in this year's RAMP project. It really was a pleasure! 🎵⭐🎵 @singire

Loving yourself, understanding yourself, knowing yourself, and protecting yourself 💖 Instead of allowing negative thoughts and disordered beliefs and horrible feelings to control you.... understand why they are there ( disorder ) aknowledge them, ignore them, and let is pass, remember your worth!!! ❤️ But don’t act on them negatively and don’t supress them!! Process them!!! 🌟💪🏼 How do you process your emotions? 🌱 I like to say positive affirmations to reassure myself 💖

I love Mr Kipling cakes they are so addictive. I used to have these at my grandmas house she’d always get the french fancies out after diner so these really take me back to my childhood. Relaxation (or just being) does not come naturally to me, but recently I've been learning to appreciate the importance of integrating our experiences as a critical component of healing.⠀
🦋⠀
The truth is that it's impossible to be growing all the time. We don't have the energy for it and there is just too much happening in life! And really, how much are we taking from our deepest healing experiences if we are powering through to the next thing without taking in, appreciating, and processing everything we've just worked through?⠀

Coming to terms with this hasn't been easy for me, but I recognize slowing down as a necessary part of my personal healing process. I see it with my clients all the time.⠀

I remember being so pissed about having to be in a clinic during the summer. I thought that I’m gonna miss out on so much, but you know what? This treatment took one summer and gave me so many more summers back, which I would have lost if I would have stayed at home dwelling in my addiction. Before getting into treatment I was alone a lot. Isolating myself and using my left over energy for sports .. I was about to lose some of the most important people in my life and let’s be honest - If i wouldn’t have come to Germany it would have all gotten worse. I would have missed out on even more. So if you are considering not going into a clinic because of the fear of missing out on things, think about the things you’re missing out on when staying in your disordered bubble of isolation.
Yes, 14 weeks of inpatient is heck of a long time. But hey, at least there is still a whole life time ahead of us now!

Btw looking forward to all the upcoming coffee-dates which i‘m not gonna miss out on anymore! ☕️

It’s so easy to get caught up in comparisons and envy of others (both in real life and on social media) who you feel are better, stronger, more beautiful, more successful, the list goes on...
That used to be ME too. Full of jealousy of other girl’s success, bodies, beauty, athletic achievements...But what I realised is that it left me totally miserable and stuck. I felt empty and like I was never enough. And in the end, it didn’t change a damn thing. .
.
NOW I’ve become a firm believer in supporting and collaborating with the people I look up to. Instead of seeing them as my competitors, seeing them as my allies, my team. Celebrating their success and cheering them on to rocking what they do. And in turn, they’ve done the same for me. Their drive, determination and strength inspire and empower me to bring out the best in myself too👯‍♀️
And I truly believe it’s helped me to become a better person. Definitely a much happier one!

i feel like i finally found myself today

the past several years i have been go-go-go, thrown into the modern world of stress and success. i lost who i was, I became ungrounded.
today i remembered who i was when i took time to just slow down and breathe. really listen to my body and let go of the worries and thoughts that consume my mind. to meditate and send my energy to healing my body.

yes i have a stress reaction in my foot. but i see this as a reaction to the stress of my life, not from solely running. resting my foot never helped it, but i think calming my being and truly believing i will heal is what will ultimately get me back on my feet again.
maybe it sounds silly, but this is the most hopeful i’ve felt in a long time. i will heal and i will stop the cycle of self-sabotage. my body will heal once my mind is mentally ready to take on life again. when it is cleansed of negativity and pressure, and is a lighter weight on my shoulders. and when i’m back, and stronger than ever, i will remember to give back and help others fight their battles.
