    When I was a kid growing up in San Diego, #mexicanfood meant rolled tacos, battered and deep fried fish tacos and crispy shell flour tortillas stuffed with shredded beef, iceberg lettuce and cheddar. It wasn’t until I moved to the Bay Area that I realized that the dishes I grew up on weren’t Mexican, but Mexican-American. #chicano is the term that refers to both the people and the cuisine that comprise this merging of borders. But, chicano food is different in #sandiego than it is in the Bay Area, where the burrito (and more notably the super burrito) was invented. To me, chicano food in San Diego evokes memories of ice cold micheladas, eating bacon wrapped hot dogs in the streets of Tijuana after stumbling out of club Safari at 3am and driving through Sombreros for crispy beef tacos at Midnight. I remember my chicano friends flipping through low rider magazines, bumping oldies and Zap and Roger and wearing Ben Davis, Dickies and flannel shirts with only the top button buttoned. There are two spots in #barriologan in particular that epitomize chicano culture and cuisine: @saludtacos (new school) & Las Cuatro Milpas (old School). Salud does a great job of fusing Mexican Street food like lengua, cabeza and al pastor tacos with low rider chicano flair. While #lascuatromilpas , a tortillaria with a never ending line out the door, stays tried and true serving the same pork tamales, rolled tacos, beans and rice with smoky ancho chile salsa they have served since they opened in 1933. There are several terms often used now to describe this type of Mexican food––“pocho cuisine,” “alta California,” “border food.” To me, it’s still difficult to define so I simply think of it as San Diego style Mexican food––a style I have only found here and admittedly not everyone “gets.” Whatever you want to call it, it’s damn good and something I look forward to every time I return to my hometown.

Глядя, как люди с разных концов Америки самозабвенно танцуют под новый ритм, Тито Пуэнте (Tito Puente, 1923—2000). вспомнив слова старого сона, изрек: "Esto es una gran salsa!", что дословно переводится как "Великолепный cоус!".

Великий сонеро подразумевал, что как и в соусе, в ритме перемешались различные ингредиенты, рождая необыкновенно "вкусную" смесь.

В конечном итоге оно все равно связано с соусом, а кто и когда это произнес - не так уж и важно, ведь танец просто очаровательный и затягивающий.

    Delicious dinner tonight at @ollacocina in downtown San Jose. It's definitely been a while since I've had a mole dish, so you better bet that when I saw the chicken mole I ordered it! The chicken was super tender and the mole sauce was so smooth. 😋
Also the elotes here were pretty 💣 - I was a little surprised at the price until the giant bowl came out and I realized it was a shared side for at least 3 people. 😎 Swipe ⬅️ to see!

We had MUSHROOM FLAUTAS which are Mexican style spring rolls stuffed with cheese and mushrooms. And were nicely decorated with tomato salsa and sour cream. It was so tasty and amazing. We had mocktails with it and it happened to be a great combo ! Do try Virgin mojito and Santra mocktail with it ! Its awesome ! loved the way it was served in different utensils! Adda has unique ambience having monsoon theme decor with umbrellas everywhere and lightings! Which simply makes you go for your Insta pictures. Service was nice. It's the one of the best places in kothrud area for Romantic dinner dates! --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Found this restaurant off the main path. Figured it would be worth a try. Once I walked in I started to feel at home with the smell of the kitchen bringing back memories of my Grandmas restaurant. I had the chili verde burrito that had a great flavor and filled with a good amount of Chili Verde. The rice and beans had a lot of flavor by themselves. When it all wrapped in the tortilla it was a great combo of flavors that was great at every bite. Not one bite was missing any part of the burrito. Then I tried the Tripa Burrito. The Tripas were cooked perfect. Not under cooked or cooked to crispy. Like the chili verde burrito, every bite had meat, beans and rice. The chips and salsa were great also. The salsa had a great Smokey flavor with the bite at the end of it. I put the chunky salsa on chopped romaine and layered it with homemade red salsa (like the normal thinner kind) and nutritional yeast. Yum for days 
Getting into the habit of turning off my phone and leaving it in the other room during the night ❤️ happy Thursday!
