Finished Christmas shopping for my son this morning as I need to send his box out this week before the holiday rush. I love waking early on the weekends to run errands and get things done. By the middle of the day I feel productive enough that I can justify relaxing for the rest of it.

Shooting with the Fuji again proves to be a simple and spot on task. The 18-55 zoom makes life very easy here..this is the few times when a zoom shines - in tight locations where you are forced to stand in one spot. It was so cold this morning but this section was covered in about 45 minutes thanks to the ease of use with the Fuge...Hats off to Urban Art Museum Punto for sponsoring the murals. A section of the refined frescoes that adorned a villa in Boscoreale, Italy, which was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and unearthed (and stripped of its paintings before being subsequently reburied) in 1900. Today this sits in the Metropolitan Museum of New York, and speaks to the enduring tradition of mural painting.

I realized early this year that I had very few hobbies that made me excited to spend time with myself. Creatively, I drained my ideas at work and alone, I either read, bathed, worked out or slept. I’ve always loved murals, so this year I put it out into the universe that I wanted to create my own murals. This is the 3rd I’ve painted this year and this one is in my own home. I’m trying to fill it with Aussie flora so Andrew finds bits of his home country in our home. I wasn’t sure if I was brave enough to have this wild of a mural in my dining space, but people like @banyanbridges and @quirkt_n_thrifted inspired me to think bigger.
