The Lakers are an interesting team. They’re going to be very focused on the playoffs and that’s why I don’t see them getting 50 wins. They will undoubtedly use a lot of load management to keep an aging LeBron and injury prone AD healthy come April.

On paper, the roster is really nice with their veterans and championship experience. The team is built to for the postseason. Although AD has limited playoff experience, he played very well in those runs, averaging 30 PPG. Kyle Kuzma is the x-factor for me, as he could be the 3rd star but likely not, unless he can improve his efficiency so he can play off the ball more.

DeMarcus Cousins is also there but no one knows what to expect from him. Frank Vogel thinks he can get back to 2017 Boogie but that’s doubtful. His defense made him almost unplayable for the Warriors in the Finals and has lost quickness. JaVale McGee might be the better option with good rim protection and as a lob threat.

The playoffs will make or break the Lakers’ season and how far they got will likely depend on matchups. They have great talent but guard-reliant teams might be difficult for them to stop. I don’t see how they’re going to slow down 2 top tier guards with Danny Green and let’s say Avery Bradley.

At the end of the day, I still think they have enough to get to the WCF but their regular season win total won’t be an accurate representation of how good they are with the use of load management.

How well do you guys think the Lakers will do?

Over the past two season, Lauri Markkanen has scored 30 or more points in ten total games. Over those ten games, the Bulls are 8-2 and Markkanen averages nearly 32 points and 11 rebounds while shooting nearly 60% from the field and over 50% from beyond the arc in less than 20 shot attempts! This is what's most exciting to me about Markkanen; when he's on fire, he's elite. If he can find a way to consistently perform at a high level alongside LaVine and Porter, this could easily be a playoff team in the near future. Obviously, injuries, a lack of overall chemistry and a veteran presence stand in the way of that, but I think we'll figure things out soon!
