[Thu] @connectthu was her IG handle, but I wasn’t sure if she represented an organization or if her name (pronounced “to”) was just perfectly fitting to “#connect to”. •
A mutual friend of ours knew we both volunteered within the #RegentPark/ #MossPark community and encouraged us to meet. It took us a few months to finally connect in person, but in my first meeting with her at @karmakitchentoronto , it was like we’d always been part of the same community. Thu had on her apron and smile, handing out equal parts #encouragement and #instruction to those who came to help. “Today is just about #giving out #goodvibes to make someone’s day.” Simple as that. While she organizes the meticulous details to put on this monthly community meal, she leads by effortless example to practice #generosity in big and small ways. •

In the weeks that followed, Thu continued to expand her circle of giving. She learned about our @salvationarmycanada squads program and galvanized her coworkers at @trylogdna to prepare #back-to-school #backpacks for our #kids. By the end of the week, I met up with her in a hilarious #exchange and transport of #school bags filled with grade-specific supplies. Thu had on her backpack and smile, this time handing out equal parts bags of all colours! •

As someone who grew up in Regent Park, her generosity seems to be inspired by more than just #volunteerism. It’s a desire to #act, it’s a belief in #people, and it’s a genuine love for #community. •

How wonderful to have met a new #neighbour, a new #friend, and a perfectly fitting human to “connect thu!”

Have you or your family been affected by poor Mental Health?
.
So many people are struggling with mental health and are afraid to ask for help so they feel trapped and can enter a spiral of horribleness.
.
If you’re feeling this way do not be afraid to seek support immediately.
.
Things that you can do yourself to help include:
.
Improving your diet 🍑
And by this I mean ensuring you are getting all of the right nutrients in your body (don’t just look at how many calories are in your food) it is looking at how nutrient dense it is. If you don’t understand nutrition then invest in finding out how.
.
Exercise 🤸🏼‍♂️
Believe me, exercise helps me get my happy hormones back when I'm feeling low. Exercise consistently. If you struggle to get out of the house then do it at home.
.
Lifestyle 🦋
Are you working in a stressful environment? Do you have a job that is leaving you drained and weepy? Are you working shifts that is messing with your sleep, nutrition and quality of time with your family? You will be surprised how much your lifestyle can lead you into depression.
.
Remember you don’t have to stay in the job you are in or that bad place. You can decide to move. YOU HAVE A CHOICE
.
Talk to someone - If you dont then anxiety and stresses just kept growing and that doesnt help if you push them away. .
If finances are an issue, find out how you can reduce your outgoings so you don’t have to cause unnescessary stress working constant overtime. And really does your child need that extra pair of Nike trainers? .
We're making decisions every minute of the day that can impact our life and mental health.
.
Don’t make it harder for yourself. Reach out! If you feel that by making a change with your nutrition, health and or fitness - I CAN HELP YOU!!! .

Environmental philosopher John Muir said "Between every two pine trees there is a door leading to a new way of life."⠀
⠀
Just like your new life in the community of Ranchers Rise! Here we are so passionate about nature and greenspaces that everyone at our Showhome Grand Opening received at least one “Tree in a Box” to plant in their yards. A great way to celebrate the green space that we are so lucky to have here in Southern Alberta!

Gym, spa and sports facility visitors spread germs to everyone else. This often leads to breakouts of flu, MRSA and athlete’s foot.

Untreated, these facilities are risky for athletes, trainers and employees because germs contaminate the workout equipment.

bioPURE’s service uses a hospital-grade disinfectant that kills germs that cause cold and flu, athlete’s foot fungus and MRSA.

Give us a call today or head on over to biopurservice.com (link in bio) for a FREE Estimate.

square seven: be a good human, and have fun, and don't give up.

I suppose that's the best way I can describe the square. It contains a bunch of bucks prescribed by therapists to me on self-compassion that I still haven't read; a couple of books by #LeoBuscaglia , one of my heroes - brave enough to teach the first University course ever on #Love . The third book in, 'Loving Each Other: the Challenge of Human Relationships' must be about my 10th copy of that book, because I inevitably hand one out to most people I meet. It's a solid read and if you have any interest in developing your capacity to participate in a #human #relationship, I would highly recommend this #resource. A couple of doors down, you'll find another one of my heroes, #Mister #FredRogers , and the world according to him. If you don't know this about me already : I came to find Fred much later in life. I don't think I've ever sat through one of his television shows, I didn't care much for him as a child. But I was exposed to his six-minute speech to Senate, fighting for, essentially, children's #MentalHealth - preaching about the importance of #feelings being mentionable and manageable. He won much more than money for public broadcasting that day, including a place in history as an ultimate #hero and #helper. I can only hope to, in my lifetime, be half the #neighbour Fred was.
That #plant is where the '#DontGiveUp ' part comes in: that geodesic form once held a terrarium that I built myself, and killed myself. I was determined to use it again, and determined to try at a green thumb again. And here it is: my *successful* second attempt at both. If at first you don't succeed ... plant a #fern - they're much harder to murder than a full-blown terrarium.
Under my successful #secondchance fern, and wicked #ChuckKlosterman party game gifted to me by my uncle @jasonwalsh185 ,the best gift giver I know, is one my #favourite #nostalgic #games from my #childhood : #TIDDLYWINKS .
I I don't really know what to say about this game other than it's loads of fun and it's really just a bunch of tiny circular disks that you flick upon each other.
Oh, when times were simpler.

I really wasn’t expecting this news. At least not... like this 😂 (also she chuckled because she was shouting. Not because of the topic. She always starts giggling when she’s being kind of goofy lol)
