I'm still relatively new to the sport of mountain biking, so I thought I'd practice going down little drops with a board as a trainer. I make it steeper, lower it, then finally remove it...keep swiping. Sorry some clips are kind of blurry. I didn't fancy reshooting... #ghostbikes #practicemakesperfect #mountainbiking #ramps #justdoit #eek

Hey guys, so I recently started trying out the box breathing exercise, (also known as square breathing or four square breathing)
And I would definitely recommend this to all of my friends who struggle with anxiety. I had actually heard about this a year or two ago when someone told me it would be a great way to help and relax. [Here is a brief explanation of the physical side of panic attacks and how this exersice helps]

So when you have an anxiety attack the unconscious body (or the autonomic nervous system) activates what can only be described as our fight-or-flight survival mode.

In this fight-or-flight mode, the body feels threatened and naturally reacts to help the person escape or protect themselves.
The body releases hormones to make the heart beat faster, soon breathing starts to quicken and boost blood sugar.
In the case of anxiety attacks, we'll sometimes get this feeling almost out of nowhere, and fear worms it's way in and an uncontrollable terror takes over.

So to put it simply, panic/anxiety attacks are very difficult and it becomes hard to focus on what is important and really anything at all for that matter.

I've come quite aways with my own anxieties
and I'd like to share this exersice with anyone it could help,
Box breathing works to reset breath and slowly makes us leave our own fight-or-flight state by lowering our Cortisol levels (Cortisol being a big hormone associated with stress)

It's a really simple workout and the more you practice the easier it gets;

Breathe in for 5 seconds and hold for 5 seconds

Breathe out for 5 seconds and hold for 5 seconds with empty lungs *Repeat*

You can even start at 4 seconds if that's what you're comfortable with and practice your way up to 5 or 6
This was developed by the Navy seals to stay calm and keep cool under exstensive stress and combat training.
This also helps sharpen mental focus.
You can find plenty of videos and apps online for more info and tips
Anyway I sincerely hope this can help anyone👍

I never thought in a million years I'd be as confident and strong as I am! I went from being worried about what others think to not worried at all!⁣
⁣
How? Well... that took years to accomplish! First, I had to make a decision... TAKE CARE OF ME! ⁣
⁣
Then I had to follow through on what my dreams were. That wasn't easy! but then along came these amazing feel good products! I'm not kidding! It was like I got my happy😀 back! I felt like a million bucks💸! They get my body working at a peak state so I suppose that's why I feel so good! ⁣

DAYS 62-66 • Back to practicing! A little sunny Leclair for this rainy day. 🌧 Been practicing what’s in my binder and it’s been nice to just exist with my violin for a few days, not for the sake of Instagram practice videos...know what I mean?
