HAPPY INTERNATIONAL ASPERGERS DAY 💖

so, my journey with aspergers/autism is an important reminder of how much work needs to be done in research and funding for the diagnosis of girls/women. I'm still not 100% officially diagnosed because the system is underfunded and the research isn't there for females.
All my life, I have been different. I thought I was an alien on the wrong planet. I struggled with social things much more than what others seemed to. I was sensitive to textures, fabric, noise, lights and changes in my routine. I hated eye contact and I always put a mask on and tried to be like everyone else because I felt like such a misfit.
Throughout my life, I have had adults say they think I have aspergers/autism but due to the lack of research of ASD in women, I thought they were wrong. I had the stereotype of autism only affecting men and that they could memorise things to do with maths and science and they were mostly nonverbal. If only more research was out there about how autism affects women. Whilst going through my third crisis, my parents decided to put me through some therapy. It was that therapist that sent a letter to my GP to get the ball rolling with an official diagnosis. She taught me a lot about autism in women, she broke down my stigmatised way of thinking regarding neurodiverse individuals. I started relating to it finally, after months of being in denial and feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Then I realised that all my life nothing had been done despite me showing obvious signs to adults around me. I felt anger.

Recently, I had my first appointment with the adult autism diagnostic team and they said that it is pretty much a done deal at this point but they want to get more details on how my autism affects me, as they think I have ADHD as well. I've studied it a lot, and after my identity crisis over how others see me and realising my invisible illness, I am finally understanding myself and starting to appreciate my differences as strengths and not weaknesses.

I’ve honestly forgotten all about food. Anxiety hasn’t been amazing though, I’ve been struggling quite a bit, specially last week. My anxiety lasted a FULL WEEK. Even with my coping mechanisms but what this made me realize was that I had to change my perspective on my problems and my attitude towards them. Because the most important thing is the ATTITUDE you put towards your problem. Think about it, and change the attitude you’re putting towards the problem in front of you. And ask yourself, is this thought going to help me? If it won’t, then remove it and CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE!

Bin was die Essstörung an geht ehrlich gesagt echt am strugglen. Zwischen meinem jetzigen Gewicht und den Bildern liegen 20kg und manchmal ertappe ich mich doch dabei, dass ich mir diese Zeit wieder wünsche. Natürlich will ich nie wieder so tief runter und das sind nicht mal die schlimmsten Bilder/tiefsten Gewichtsbilder. Seit 2015 bin ich raus aus dem Untergewicht, aber ich kann euch sagen, dass ich noch genauso krank wie früher bin, nur anders. Meine Symptomatik und mein Gewicht hat sich vielleicht verschoben, aber meine Gedanken sind genauso krank und schlimm wie früher. Nur weil jemand zunimmt und äußerlich nicht mehr krank scheint, ist er nicht plötzlich geheilt. Eine Essstörung spielt sich im Kopf ab und es passiert so schnell, dass man wieder rückfällig wird. Die meisten essgestörten Menschen, die ich kenne, sind NICHT im Untergewicht, also verabschiedet euch bitte von der Vorstellung, dass alle essgestörten Menschen extrem dünn oder extrem übergewichtig sind. Die meisten sind ganz normal, so wie ich auch. Der Leidensdruck einer Krankheit ist dann nicht weniger hoch als bei anderen. Meistens fühlt es sich für einen noch schlimmer an, weil das Umfeld jemanden im Normalgewicht natürlich weniger ernst nimmt, als jemanden mit extrem Untergewicht. Aber beides ist schlimm. Würdet ihr jetzt Menschen in meiner Umgebung - ja sogar meine Familie - fragen, ob ich noch essgestört bin, die würden höchstwahrscheinlich sagen, dass ich das überwunden habe. Auch das Essverhalten lässt sich sehr gut verstecken und verheimlichen und bei mir merkt was niemand mehr was... Also bitte passt auf, was ihr sagt, was für Kommentare ihr abgebt und wie ihr euch über Körper von anderen Menschen äußert. Ihr wisst nicht, was ein anderer Mensch gerade durch macht und wie krank er vielleicht ist. Und selbst wenn er gesund ist, passt genauso auf. 🙏❤️

Nur weil jemand zunimmt und äußerlich nicht mehr krank scheint, ist er nicht plötzlich geheilt. Eine Essstörung spielt sich im Kopf ab und es passiert so schnell, dass man wieder rückfällig wird. Die meisten essgestörten Menschen, die ich kenne, sind NICHT im Untergewicht, also verabschiedet euch bitte von der Vorstellung, dass alle essgestörten Menschen extrem dünn oder extrem übergewichtig sind. Die meisten sind ganz normal, so wie ich auch. Der Leidensdruck einer Krankheit ist dann nicht weniger hoch als bei anderen. Meistens fühlt es sich für einen noch schlimmer an, weil das Umfeld jemanden im Normalgewicht natürlich weniger ernst nimmt, als jemanden mit extrem Untergewicht. Aber beides ist schlimm. Würdet ihr jetzt Menschen in meiner Umgebung - ja sogar meine Familie - fragen, ob ich noch essgestört bin, die würden höchstwahrscheinlich sagen, dass ich das überwunden habe. Auch das Essverhalten lässt sich sehr gut verstecken und verheimlichen und bei mir merkt was niemand mehr was... Also bitte passt auf, was ihr sagt, was für Kommentare ihr abgebt und wie ihr euch über Körper von anderen Menschen äußert. Ihr wisst nicht, was ein anderer Mensch gerade durch macht und wie krank er vielleicht ist. Und selbst wenn er gesund ist, passt genauso auf. 🙏❤️

Da fine novembre ho iniziato a stare di nuovo male, ho iniziato ad avere di nuovo necessità del cibo per calmare le mie emozioni: è partito tutto dal fatto che avessi una temperatura da cadavere e che per alzarla dovessi assumere calorie. Poi il resto è venuto da sé... Il viaggio a Milano da sola, il trasloco del negozio, tutte le problematiche che ne sono scaturite. Forse è stato troppo per me.
Questa mattina mi sono pesata: ho recuperato 6 kg. E ho passato tutto il giorno a scrivere quel cavolo di cifra per ricordarmi che io quelle emozioni le so tenere a bada e che non ho bisogno di ingurgitare cibo per calmarmi.

Ohh we love a good curry 😻
Genuinely think curry’s are my favourite meal atm! Cześć!❤️ Jak tam u Was? U mnie nawet ok🙂 Dzisiaj prezentowaliśmy projekt grupowy i miałam korki z matmy. Było trochę lepiej niż w zeszłym tygodniu. Kiedy widzę te zadania z repetytorium to jestem przerażona. Właściwie to z angielskiego i matmy robię tam naprawdę masę błędów😐 Ciężko mi uporządkować sobie z angielskiego czasy. Ze wszystkich przedmiotow miałam na semestr 5 i 6 a czuje, że po prostu wielu rzeczy nie umiem. Po feriach nieco więcej rozmawiam z paroma osobami i lepiej się przez to czuje🙂 Czasem mam bad body image ale jest już nieco lepiej, chociaż trochę się jeszcze obawiam wzrostu wagi i tego jak będę wyglądać za parę kilo😐

Another perspective in my treatment room, and another piece of furniture gifted. This time from my Mum #johnlewis #fauxfurisbest 😄 This is the place I enjoy some self care time, relaxing and reading when I get a chance. It’s a great place to just stop for a bit, look out at the animal children in the garden and the paddocks beyond, and focus on my breathing and being calm. Are they true? No. You & everyone on this🌎is capable. You only have to CHOOSE to want to, to give yourself a chance you have never had, to action anything that will get you 1mm closer to it.

👉Even if I have to pretend, I can be the parent I need, doesn't mean my parents were bad, it means only I know what I am in need of, i will allow my parent voice to stick up for my needs, like I would someone I love, i am my child. I will plan for my need to be met, look for how I can do that & action it.Other to do's can WAIT.
👉I can acknoledge my feelings & needs without fighting for them & with kindness, say no thankyou, my parentis in charge.
👉Im dont know if theyll listen or not, i can practice joining the conversation❤

Very happy for it to be the start of a new week ☀️

Rough for days back home last week, but sometimes it be like that 😅🥴. I think physio helped loosen things off... which is good... but I’m wrecked from the travel, and post physio affects, and stress of those few days. Pain levels slightly worse than they were before travelling back but hoping that’ll settle down 🥴 finger crossed 😂

We live n learn and it’s more ‘data’. I probs won’t be making that trip again if pain levels stay where they are though 🙄

So, if you scroll back to the dawn of time on this account, you’ll see that I was a rather skinny 18 year old trying to figure out this fitness thing. I was young, naive (well, more so) and also had an incredible hatred for the way my body looked and functioned. I thought I was “overweight” and I thought I wasn’t good enough, that I didn’t look my best I could be and that I was never going to achieve my “dream” look.

A year or so has passed since, and I’ve gained weight. Looking at me back then and knowing my mindset, you’d probably think that now I’m heavier, I hate myself more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I don’t.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You see, the thing is with growing up is that you are exposed to so many different influences, both internal and external, and it forms the way we think. For me, I was a young girl trying to fit into a fitness mould that I could physically never achieve. Everyone, especially females, are genetically formed to look differently. I will expend and consume different amounts to everybody, which will be absorbed by my body in different ways, like everyone else. In that way, we are all similarly unique. Strange, isn’t it?

Anyway, if you are in the situation that I was in, where I was hurting and hating my body by pushing it through constant workouts and pain, give it time. Your mindset won’t change overnight. I still sometimes think I’m the equivalent of a beached whale. I’m clearly not a sea mammal. I’m just the same as everyone else. Human. Unless you’re a dog and you’re reading this, in that case, can I adopt you?

So, if you scroll back to the dawn of time on this account, you’ll see that I was a rather skinny 18 year old trying to figure out this fitness thing. I was young, naive (well, more so) and also had an incredible hatred for the way my body looked and functioned. I thought I was “overweight” and I thought I wasn’t good enough, that I didn’t look my best I could be and that I was never going to achieve my “dream” look.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A year or so has passed since, and I’ve gained weight. Looking at me back then and knowing my mindset, you’d probably think that now I’m heavier, I hate myself more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I don’t.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You see, the thing is with growing up is that you are exposed to so many different influences, both internal and external, and it forms the way we think. For me, I was a young girl trying to fit into a fitness mould that I could physically never achieve. Everyone, especially females, are genetically formed to look differently. I will expend and consume different amounts to everybody, which will be absorbed by my body in different ways, like everyone else. In that way, we are all similarly unique. Strange, isn’t it?

Anyway, if you are in the situation that I was in, where I was hurting and hating my body by pushing it through constant workouts and pain, give it time. Your mindset won’t change overnight. I still sometimes think I’m the equivalent of a beached whale. I’m clearly not a sea mammal. I’m just the same as everyone else. Human. Unless you’re a dog and you’re reading this, in that case, can I adopt you?

DISCIPLINE. Let’s chat🤚🏼
I feel like the word has so much negative connotation around it. And yes it can absolutely be a toxic thing if you aren’t taking care of yourself + are being ‘disciplined’ with things that are actually doing you a DIS-service (think over-exercising, not taking rest days, under eating, ignoring your hunger etc...) but it can also be a really positive thing!🙏🏼

People always ask me how I stayed motivated to recover, keep eating more and gaining weight even when it was hard, scary, inconvenient + uncomfortable ~ the #TRUTH is not being motivated 24/7 because that’s just plain unrealistic.
The reality is discipline.
.
It’s being so damn committed to my goals of getting healthy and strong, that I keep pushing and doing what I KNOW I need to do even when I don’t ‘feel like it’.
Even when it scares the hell out of me.
Even when it’s uncomfortable.
.
Because I know it will be worth it in the long run. And it’s necessary to get to the place I want + achieve what I want.
.
Discipline can come from a place of SELF CARE too. Be disciplined to taking care of your body, to fuelling yourself properly, staying on top of my diabetes management, to getting enough sleep + rest, to trusting the process and sticking through with it even when it’s hard.

I think this is one of the most underrated ‘secrets’ to achieving anything. And it’s one of the most rewarding things ever. ♥️✨
