Titan. A moon beset in a thick haze. The #Dragonfly mission will soon be sending a flying drone to Titan to survey more of its surface. Beyond hydrocarbon rich ices and potential lakes of methane and ethane, what more might we find there? ·

Here Titan is colored from ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths. The image was taken by Cassini's imaging science subsystem on 26 Oct. 2004, and is constructed from four images acquired through different color filters. Red and green colors represent infrared wavelengths and show areas where atmospheric methane absorbs light. These colors reveal a brighter (redder) northern hemisphere. Blue represents ultraviolet wavelengths and shows the high atmosphere and detached hazes. Titan has a gigantic atmosphere, extending hundreds of kilometers above the surface. The sharp variations in brightness on Titan's surface (and clouds near the south pole) are apparent at infrared wavelengths. The image scale of this picture is 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) per pixel. [edited from the NASA photojournal release] ·

⭐خانه کهکشانی یک انفجار تاریخی NGC 4993
‌
📷امتیاز تصویر: NASA & ESA
‌

Last night my neighbor asked me where I go out for fun. So on impulse I told her to get in my car. I brought her to a giant telescope at the science center. To my surprise Saturn and a few of its orbiting moons were out 😍 ! Fun unexpected evening. x

Saturno devorando a su hijo (1819-1823)
🇪🇸 Francisco Goya
📍 Museo del Prado, Madrid
‼️ According to Roman myth (inspired by the original Greek myth), it had been foretold that one of the sons of Saturn would overthrow him, just as he had overthrown his father, Caelus. To prevent this, Saturn ate his children moments after each was born. His wife Ops eventually hid his third son, Jupiter, on the island of Crete, deceiving Saturn by offering a stone wrapped in swaddling in his place. Jupiter eventually supplanted his father just as the prophecy had predicted.

you taught me the courage of stars before you left
how light carries on even after death
I'll carry on, painting on that canvas you left behind, using the light you gave me, to build myself, till forever comes

all this time
I have been sobbing over and over
but you taught me the courage of stars before you left
and you wrote me a poem that screamed my name
as if you knew I'd fall asleep
as soon as you'd die in my heart
you always tried to wake me up
you always kept me alive

I'm not crying anymore
I hope you're happy, you didn't tell me where you're going and I'll always be mad about the fact that you had to leave ourr infinite universe
but with shortness of breath,
I'll explain the infinite
you were the one that taught me
how beautiful it is, truly, that we even exist. and I'll never forget you, because your light I will carry on
endlessly

I couldn't help but ask
for you to say it all again
I tried to write it down
but i could never find a pen
but your words, and whispers
is all my ears can listen to

not all, they also hear saturn, our favourite planet from the solar system
sometimes in my sleep I also hear my music speaking to me, but all they have, to talk about, is, you
and it kills me

the reminder that you're gone

But I guess that's the hardest part, right? I'm sure one day I'll wake up and I wouldn't have to pretend to sleep that extra twenty mins in my bed hiding my tears and crying about the same disaster, again and again
one day I'll wake up, to a different fight, to a newer problem, to a better mess

untill then
I'd give anything to hear
you say it one more time
that the universe was made
just to be seen by my eyes (wrote this in one flow in less than 3 mins 😊 )

🔥Saturn🔥⠀

Saturn is the sixth planet in the solar system, the second in size and mass after Jupiter and the only one with a ring system visible from Earth. Its name comes from the Roman god Saturn. It is part of the so-called outer or gaseous planets. The most characteristic aspect of Saturn is its bright rings. Before the invention of the telescope, Saturn was the furthest of the known planets and, at first glance, it didn't seem bright or interesting. The first to observe the rings was Galileo in 1610, but the low inclination of the rings and the low resolution of his telescope made him think at first that they were large moons. Christiaan Huygens, with better means of observation, was able to observe the rings clearly in 1659. James Clerk Maxwell, in 1859, mathematically demonstrated that the rings could not be a single solid object but should be the grouping of millions of smaller particles. The particles that make up Saturn's rings spin at a speed of 48,000 km / h, 15 times faster than a bullet.⠀

The north pole of Saturn, in the fresh light of spring, is revealed in this color image from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. The north pole was previously hidden from the gaze of Cassini's imaging cameras because it was winter in the northern hemisphere when the spacecraft arrived at the Saturn system in 2004.⠀
⠀
A hurricane-like storm circling Saturn's north pole at about 89 degrees north latitude is inside the famous "hexagon" feature, which scientists think is a wandering jet stream that whips around the north pole at about 220 miles per hour (98 meters per second). It folds into a six-sided shape because the hexagon is a stationary wave that guides the path of the gas in the jet. The hexagon borders occur at about 77 degrees north latitude and the feature is wider than two Earths. Saturn's rings can be seen at the upper right of the image.⠀
⠀
Images with red, green and blue spectral filters were combined to create this natural-color view, which is what the human eye would see if we were there at Saturn. ⠀

A real photo of Saturn from Earth! 😯 Saturn's Rings are one of the most striking features of the solar system. They encircle the sixth planet from the sun in bizarre configurations, each thousands of miles wide but just a few dozen feet thick. The rings are mostly ice with a little bit of rock mixed in. You can see the Cassini Division in this photo. (region between the A ring and B ring) by Christopher Go
