🐝“Honey bees — wild & domestic — perform about 80% of all pollination worldwide. A single #bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day. Grains are primarily pollinated by the wind, but fruits, nuts & vegetables are pollinated by #bees. 70 out of the top 100 human food crops — which supply about 90% of the world’s nutrition — are pollinated by bees” @GreenPeace #NationalHoneyBeeDay🐝 “From apples to zucchini, bees alone pollinate $15 billion worth of US crops every year. But bees are dying—an alarming 40% of honeybee colonies collapsed from spring 2017 to 2018 & more & more of our 4,000+ species of wild bees are edging toward extinction.

While #ClimateChange, habitat loss & disease all play a role in the rate of colony collapse, mounting scientific evidence links the recent dramatic spike in bee deaths to the rise of neonic pesticides—now the most heavily used insecticides in the US. Neonics can kill bees on contact & at even very low exposures harm their ability to navigate, forage &  reproduce. These chemicals also easily spread through soil &  water & can be absorbed by wild plants, making the pollen & nectar poisonous to bees & other pollinators.

The world is taking notice: The EU voted to ban outdoor uses of three major neonics & Canada is also moving to significantly curtail its use of the chemicals. But the EPA under the Trump administration has failed to act. That’s why NRDC is putting pressure on the EPA, both in & out of court & working with states to promote smart pesticide policies & build pollinator habitat, while pushing major retailers to take neonic products & neonic-treated plants off their shelves” - @NRDC_org

    FRACTURE PATIENT ASSESSMENT SCORE (FPAS)

For the orthopedist it is extremely important to consider detail of all the variables involved in a fracture, otherwise the possibility of making mistakes in its resolution is enormous, we recommend studying the assessment score which will guide us to avoid missing out on some elements involved.

The FPAS attempts to produce individual subcategory scores and an overall numerical score. It is, however, generally utilizing subjective criteria and therefore care should be taken to avoid rigid dependence on individual numbers. The core value of the FPAS is enforcing careful systematic assessment and interpretation of a variety of important factors.
Mechanical factors • Patient size and weight.
• Number of limbs affected.
• Pre-existing musculoskeletal, neurological or generalized disease.
• Ability to achieve load sharing between implants and reconstructed bone fragments.
Biological factors Local factors at the fracture site include: * Quality of soft tissue envelope * Extent of soft tissue damage * High- or low-energy fracture * Region of bone fractured * Surgical approach.
Systemic factors include: * Age * General health * Concurrent disease * Concurrent injuries.
Clinical factors * Anticipated client compliance with postoperative instructions * Anticipated patient compliance and behavior. * Home environment.
I invite you to read more detail about it :

TICKLE MY TUMMY AT YOUR PERIL! Nena looking absolutely adorable in the ADI Temporary Rescue Center in Guatemala. Lions Nena, Sasha and Kimba were all rescued from the same circus in Guatemala when ADI began assisting the Government, enforcing a ban on all animals in circuses. They are destined for a new life at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa and preparations have begun for the airlift of 12 tigers and six lions all saved from circuses in Guatemala.

A couple of months ago we shared the story of 🐕 Moo with you. The poor guy had been found tied to a pole under the scorching sun of 🇻🇳 Vietnam. His eyes were swollen so badly that he couldn't even see who was approaching him when we came for his rescue. However, he immediately trusted us to be the ones who would change his life for the better. His faith, strength and will to recover paid off as he made a remarkable recovery: after five intensive weeks of antibacterial baths, oral medications, and a lot of love we can barely recognize him from the older footage. He has been fully vaccinated, neutered and is an incredibly sweet and happy little guy 💙
