There are times where I feel like I should take a photo and do not because it does not fit into how I was trained and who I like. Then I see it somewhere else in a gallery or book by some well know photographer and it makes me rethink that I should and not care so much. To not fall into instagram bias and take photos that I think people will like here.

I read recently about artists struggling with companies that will not hire them without 10,000 followers. That, to me, is crazy. I can buy 10,000 followers overnight so what does that really mean. I would rather get 1000 who really love my work. If I manage to get that many it really may come down to me creating photos for instagram rather than for myself.

I think many artist feel that way. Of course there are people who are so good that they easily get that many followers but the audience tends to be other photographers or similar artists and not an audience of people who enjoy art as art. People who want to learn, not that there is anything wrong like that. I have seen great photographers really work hard and post multiple times a day to get a count that high and they deserve it. They create truly interesting content.

The main issue really is that companies are trying to piggy back off the success that person has had in social media and to get their followers to like them. Does that really work? If my followers are other photographers, I don't think they are going to care. Do the artists get more money because of all the hard work they put into their feeds? Of course not so here is a photo of a bottle of piss to truly express how I feel about that.

I’m feeling stronger than ever today. The past few weeks I’ve been getting that wonderful feeling like I’m on the right path – y’know that feeling when your dreams are starting to come into focus way off in the distance. I can see where I’m heading and I LOVE IT. For all my female photographers out there, stay strong today. Don’t let others’ doubts become your own. 💪🏻

Only had my speedlight and we saw the moon rising out of the clouds. Quick panic to catch it before it went into the clouds. Maybe @sonyalpha can send me back with my full set up and a 70-200 and 200-600?? how about it @sony ?🤷‍♂️🙋‍♂️ 📸

I flew back home from LA, only there for two days. It was just enough time to regroup and prepare for Swim Week in Miami. To be honest it was one of the best experiences in my entire life..

Excited to announce that I’ve signed up with @foundwork.art to showcase my works. As @instagram devolves into a cluttered mess w awful advertisements clogging feeds etc, I find that the @foundwork.art platform offers a much needed clean visual space where #fineart can be presented with a little more precision focusing on curators, collectors and such. I’ll be announcing a few more creative partnerships for distributing my works worldwide in the next few days as well. (These past 3 years, I drove like a madman down the creative highway to get to the playing field.) www.foundwork.art/artists/raykoh

Do you miss the rainy winter?
(Swipe to see the crazy Before & After)
I don’t really like the summer in Taipei, super hot and it’s very muggy outside.
These makes me starting to miss the winter.
Which season do you like the most?

A Utah alpine meadow under the Milky Way. Congratulations to Eric Benedetti. “Bryony Richards and I headed up to the mountains a few weekends ago, trying to escape the heat, we ended up with one semi-clear night before the onslaught of mosquitos and heavy thunderstorms hit us. We had a nice gentle river that meanders through a beautiful mountain meadow as our foreground, perfect for doing some nice reflection shots. Cabins along the far side of the river provide for some interesting illumination of the hillsides. Also joining us were some friendly beavers, occasionally slapping their tails on the water in disgust at our presence. All in all a fun weekend with some beautiful dark skies,” says Eric. || Please show support to our guest artists by visiting their IG gallery.

MORE from Eric: Swipe left to check out the comparison of our shots taken side by side. It’s always fun to see the creative differences between two astrophotographers shooting the same composition at the same time!
-
MORE from Bryony: The mosquitoes were unrelenting... At least to me, no one else seemed to get bitten! [Response from Eric: Bry is a great mosquito repellent, she's got the blood they love which spares the rest of us!]
-
