Feel like you’re always foam rolling your hamstrings and they are STILL constantly feeling tight? Here are a few other things you can try:

Check core stability - sometimes if there is a core stability issue, it can cause feelings of tension in muscles.

Check opposite muscle groups - this would be the quadriceps in the case of the hamstrings. There might be tightness there making you feel as though it’s the hammies.

Check muscles that work together - maybe the hamstrings are working too much and the Glutes are not working enough.

Moral of the story is, just because something feels tight doesn’t necessarily mean massaging it will help solve the problem. Can it bring temporary relief? Absolutely. Want longer lasting results? See a practitioner who can also help you address possible causes ✌️

Good morning!⁣

This is one of my favorite variations of a single leg hip hinge pattern. ⁣

Why?⁣

Because one of the major faults in the SLDL is rounding of the upper back. When you add a dumbbell to the upper chest you exaggerate the fault and force the body react by posturing tall throughout the movement. ⁣

Add this to your client's routine if they're in need of a stiffer upper back in the #sldl

Everyone in the gym knows 105kgx3 on squats fills me with fear as I've injured myself 3 times on that exact set.
After LOTS of prehab, rehab and stabilisation work I did 105kgx5 today.
Wasn't expecting it to move the way it did after doing 5x5 on squats yesterday and block pulls!
Thanks as always @ca_physique_and_performance for always pushing me when I doubt myself.

Nikdo nikdy nemá právo říct či naznačit, že nejsme DOST.
A my jim to nesmíme dovolit.

Pokud si sami začneme myslet, že nejsme DOST, je pro okolí jednoduché si to myslet také a ono okolí nám to dá pěkně sežrat 🤦🏼‍♀️ ☝🏼Nikdy nikomu nedej do ruky tak mocnou zbraň, jako to, že začneš pochybovat sám o sobě, zda jsi DOST.

The shoulder bridge on a stability ball .
Is a simple and effective way to work your glutes, hamstrings and core .
Start on your back with your feet positioned on the ball hip distance apart.
Make sure your pelvis is in neutral position. This means your back is not flat on the mat or arched off the mat.
Take a deep breath in to prepare then as you exhale press your heels firmly into the ball tilt your pelvis up towards your head as you raise your butt off the floor.
When you get to the top of the movement your shoulders should be resting on the mat. Take a breath in and then slowly return to the floor as you exhale. Keep your core activated throughout the exercise.

Hey runners! Try this warm up for your ankles before you go out and hammer down all those miles. It's a fact that one of the factors that contributes to plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and other running specific injuries is an underactive medial arch in the foot.
If we don't "warm up" the ankles before loading them with impact, then the soft tissue upstream pays the price.
Now what makes this particular movement very effective is that it not only loosens the ankles, but it also helps to activate the key muscles that originate in the arch (posterior tibialis & flexor hallucis)

Here are 2 exercises from a single leg progression series I’ve been utilizing with my athletes. (There’s 5 in the series). The premise is to develop single-leg stability & strength needed to be explosive off both legs when sprinting, jumping and changing directions. Yes one leg is going to remain off the ground for the duration of reps. Why? Because we like tension and keeping that tension is going to allow us to be more explosive. It’s also going to challenge the athlete from a mobility stand point in order to reinforce the same plane they just moved through. But why the med ball slam? I’m glad you asked!! It’s going to provide instant feedback to the athlete as to where their hips want to travel during decelerating. I would also recommend trying this out without shoes so you as the coach can see where your athlete likes to live on their feet (outside or inside edge of the foot).

This is a very unique spin on shalabhasana (locust pose) - which, if you’ve followed my work for a little while, you might know is on my list of top 5 favorite yoga poses. I’m definitely a fan of active prone backbends!

Shalabhasana is generally practiced as a symmetrical, sagittal plane backbend (spinal extension). But in this great variation, we work asymmetrically by adding an element of *rotation* to our extension, and this combination makes for some extra potent upper back mobility work.
.
I’ve featured 4 different variations for trying this upper back mobility move out. Can you tell which one seems to give me the most range?
.
You might notice that my legs are abducted here (out wide from the midline) and my arms are as well - so my arms & legs make a bit of an “X” shape on the floor. This help give me a bit better leverage for pushing my “grounded” limbs into the floor to help my lifted arm & chest move further into my rotational movement.
.
In the first variation, I place my hand behind my head and then lift & rotate my chest in the direction of that arm.
.
In variation # 2, I lift up with a straight arm.
.
Variation # 3 is similar to # 2, but I lift my arm *first* and then lift my spine. This places extra emphasis on posterior shoulder engagement during the movement.
.
And finally, in variation # 4, I first rotate my head and *then* lift up into my spinal rotation/extension. Because our cervical spine is still a part of our spine, this has an effect down the kinetic chain and impacts the thoracic & lumbar movement as well.

I was inspired to explore and create some variations on this movement after seeing something similar posted by @thehpm that he calls “Sky Reaches”. They are great!

****STOP complaining that stability training limits gains because you can’t go heavy. The reason you can’t go heavy is because your stability, motor control, muscle function, alignment, posture, & body mechanics need work. In fact when performing most forms of stability training, you should be able to handle at least 75% of the load you typically handle on traditional variations as I show here with the bamboo bar/earthquake bar from @bandbell (use code AHPBANDBELL to get 10% off at https://www.bandbell.com/ ). If you you’re unable to use such loads then again it’s because your activation patterns, alignment, & body mechanics are amiss. So stop bashing stability training as an excuse to cover up your own limitations & weaknesses.
With that said the single best way to master your body mechanics so you can easily perform advanced movements including heavy stability exercises is to master the basic foundational movement patterns with ECCENTRIC ISOMETRICS. You’ll notice in the video I’m using eccentric isometrics with 90 deg angles on these split squat lunges as you’re forced to do so as anything less will make it impossible to control the oscillating kinetic energy & chaotic perturbations created from the HBT (article below). Lastly, the slight decrease in load on stability exercises won’t limit hypertrophy & strength gains as you’ll more than make up for it with increased  constant tension, metabolic stress, increased muscle activation, enhanced intramuscular tension, & increased full body tension all of which are great hypertrophy & strength stimuli. So yes, stability training can be very effective for strength & hypertrophy if you’re properly trained & you can handle substantial loads with control.

****STOP complaining that stability training limits gains because you can’t go heavy. The reason you can’t go heavy is because your stability, motor control, muscle function, alignment, posture, & body mechanics need work. In fact when performing most forms of stability training, you should be able to handle at least 75% of the load you typically handle on traditional variations as I show here with the bamboo bar/earthquake bar from @bandbell (use code AHPBANDBELL to get 10% off at https://www.bandbell.com/ ). If you you’re unable to use such loads then again it’s because your activation patterns, alignment, & body mechanics are amiss. So stop bashing stability training as an excuse to cover up your own limitations & weaknesses. 
With that said the single best way to master your body mechanics so you can easily perform advanced movements including heavy stability exercises is to master the basic foundational movement patterns with ECCENTRIC ISOMETRICS. You’ll notice in the video I’m using eccentric isometrics with 90 deg angles on these split squat lunges as you’re forced to do so as anything less will make it impossible to control the oscillating kinetic energy & chaotic perturbations created from the HBT (article below). Lastly, the slight decrease in load on stability exercises won’t limit hypertrophy & strength gains as you’ll more than make up for it with increased  constant tension, metabolic stress, increased muscle activation, enhanced intramuscular tension, & increased full body tension all of which are great hypertrophy & strength stimuli. So yes, stability training can be very effective for strength & hypertrophy if you’re properly trained & you can handle substantial loads with control.
