Deliberated posting this. This is the TRUTH. I hide or think I hide so well my struggles whilst at work. But today it got the better of me. A phone call sorting out what’s meant to be financial support for working single mums ended up in an emotional distressed individual feeling like the system is WRONG!! A what point is it fair that a career driven mother is left worrying about financing the childcare of her children? I can’t understand why just because I’m working full time I’m penalised with lower financial support. The stress applying for support has caused me has made me wonder if it’s worth the blood sweat and tears for the twopence I’m receiving? I might not be making much sense. But without going into too much detail I’m left feeling like the system in this country is totally unfair and cruel just because my marriage deceased. I could give up my career but I won’t. I know I’ll get more support if I did but that’s not me.
This is me after being in floods of tears with frustration.
Divorce. We may have separated and I might be learning life being a single mum. But it doesn’t mean I get unexpected stress and emotional u turns. The struggle is real. I fight on another day. Being a single mum is one of the hardest ever task I’ve endured. I’m rising to the challenge. 14 weeks pregnant. Officially in the 2nd trimester. Hoping I can keep up with going to the gym.
Let me tell you... as pathetic as it sounds... working out with no pre workout has got to be the hardest thing ever. Lol. I mean, until childbirth. 🤣

Today I had a bad ass workout!!! I pushed myself, like really pushed myself even though I felt like shit. Even though I didn’t have much energy. And I shocked myself.

Muscle memory is fucking amazing!!!! And I am so grateful that for now my body is still allowing me to move and lift. It makes me so happy to be able to get in the gym. -
It’s even more empowering doing it while pregnant. Because this shit is no joke. It’s fucking hard. It’s fucking painful.... but I wouldn’t trade it for the world 🌎🥰

Today is International Rare Disease Day and I just want to take a moment and Thank God for this beautiful girl I am blessed to have by my side. She has a rare 4q Chromosome Deletion and extra DNA on Chromosome 20. I'm beyond grateful, thankful, and amazed by her and will always be. No doctor can explain how/why she's not like most cases and we will continue to keep plugging along taking things as they come! My beautiful Marissa Rose, you're an inspiring beauty and I love you so much!

Weighed in at 319lbs this morning, at 5'11. I never thought I'd hit this size, at this level of leanness in my life. Most of my adult life I'd been 250+ and extremely unhealthy and high body fat to the point where I probably had an eating disorder because of it. I remember starving myself and going low carb because I was so insecure with my appearance that I hated everything about myself. Growth is good. Trust the process. Lift heavy, eat what you what within reason, and stay active. My mobility and athleticism aren't where I want them to be just right, but that's what I'm working on next.

I... HAVE..NO..WORDS... I was trying to take a picture of my muscles today 😏 and I was truly speechless when I saw myself in the mirror. I HAVE MUSCLES. More muscles than I thought I had!!!!! I AM SHOCKED. look at my arms, neck, shoulders and chest.. WTF!! 😍

I have worked SO hard to get to where I am today but I honestly am still very critical of my image and often don't see what others see.
Well today I can proudly say thay all of my hard work is paying off!!!!! 💪 LET'S HUSTLE FOR THAT MUSCLE 💪

Contrast Training is when you perform a strength exercise and pair it with a plyometric exercise that is similar to the strength exercise. This allows for increased muscle recruitment with which will help to increase power output. This increase of power develops athletic performance by improving rate of force production.

Today I used a 4 second eccentric DB Bench Press while driving the weight up with maximal intent. The eccentric portion of the lift recruits a high amount muscle fibers which can be transferred into absorbing force. Then I used a Laying Med Ball Chest Pass to produce maximal power while also absorbing the force from catching the ball.

🔹2 Reps x 8 Sets DB Bench (4 Sec. Ecc.)🔹 .
Paired W/ .
🔹5 Reps x 4 Sets Laying Med Ball Throw (Every Other Set)🔹

I spent sooo many, tooo many, years of my fitness and health journey (and even part of my training CAREER) trying to make the following work to give me the body I wanted.
❌cardio only.
❌boot camp classes.
❌spin classes.
❌a different group fitness class everyday.
❌low weight and high reps.
❌classes that boasted “toning” through weights but did include any progression within those weights.
❌eating little to no carbs INCLUDING FRUIT 🤯. ❌two a days.
❌no junk food-no alcohol-no fun.
❌eating very few calories.

here is what I have actually spent far LESS TIME doing, but found actually did get me the body I wanted AND THEN ALSO made me strong, confident, knowledgeable about my body, in control of my habits, excited about fitness, health, and about life outside of obsession over my body. ✅strength training.
✅following a program that emphasized progressive overload
✅focusing on compound movements, proper rest/recovery period, learning to have a healthy relationship with caloric intake & food.
✅consistency.

Don’t be afraid of weights.
Stop sticking to what feels familiar and safe.
Stop wasting your time.
Stop hating your fitness routine.
Stop hating your body.

I want to help you skip the bullshit and get to the good shit.

1) Make sure you’re not skipping out on everything else! Building a strong core and upper body is so important! 🚫🚫🦖🦖⁣

2) You need to consume protein to build muscle! Try to incorporate healthy protein into every meal! ⁣

3) Try to choose cardio that burns fat but maintains muscle! I try to do things like incline walk, cycling or the stairclimber 🍑⁣

4) Do some warm up moves to engage your core and glutes- hip thrusts, kettle bell swings, band walks, deadbugs! Making sure you’re really feeling that connection to engage your core and glutes! ⁣

5) Do your research and try different moves! Figure out what work BEST for YOUR body ✨ ⁣

6) Include your basics! Deadlifts, Squat Variations, Hip Thrusts, Lunge Variations! ⁣

7) Switch things up- Change up your reps, increase your weight and try to get a good repertoire of moves that you can cycle through to always keep your muscles guessin’⁣

8) Always challenge your self, trying to increase your weight and push your reps to where it feels almost impossible to complete the last couple reps (BUT DO NOT sacrifice your form!!) ⁣

And finally, have fun with it. Embrace your strength and embrace the buzz you get from lifting heavy and feeling strong 💪🏼
