    first day in washington:

a walk around edmonds and a quick stop at a cute boutique-like thrift shop! i found this adorable yellow jacket (as you can tell, my favorite color is yellow). i'm excited to wear it when i go back east for school in ONE WEEK!

we also stopped a local store where i was able to find some nutritional yeast in bulk! i've never seen nutritional yeast in bulk; and because we are only staying about 5 days in washington, i didn't want to purchase an entire container of nooch. i got so excited when i saw it was available!

Blue sky for daysssssss 😀 it’s amazing what a little bit of sunshine ☀️ can do for the soul. It’s been so cold here in Melbourne the last few weeks, it’s hard not to get a little spring in your step when you get a day like this 👌🏻

My Saturday smudge session took me back to the remote islands of Thailand this morning. We travelled there with our little boy last year. I don’t know what plant it was in particular, maybe it was the perfect combination, but all I could smell was island life and temples 🙏🏼

Got a decent harvest of ground cherries today! These guys grow wild out here and have popped up anywhere I water. During the spring they were everywhere, and totally self sufficient, but most died off by mid July if they weren’t near a water source. Swipe to see the biggest plant. It’s happily living by our outdoor shower. #foraged #groundcherries

For more than 200 years, or since the industrial revolution began, the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere has increased due to the burning of fossil fuels and land use change (e.g. increased car emissions and deforestation). During this time, the pH of surface ocean waters has fallen by 0.1 pH units. The pH scale, like the Richter scale, is logarithmic, so this change represents approximately a 30 percent increase in acidity.
The ocean absorbs about 30% of the CO2 that is released in the atmosphere, and as levels of atmospheric CO2 increase, so do the levels in the ocean. When CO2 is absorbed by seawater, a series of chemical reactions occur resulting in the increased concentration of hydrogen ions. This increase causes the seawater to become more acidic and causes carbonate ions to be relatively less abundant.

@prideofgypsies says he can’t start shooting “Aquaman 2”… because he “got run over by a bulldozer” while protesting construction of a giant telescope on land considered sacred to native Hawaiians
Momoa has spent several weeks protesting on the highest point on the state of Hawaii, Mauna Kea, in an effort to stop construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT)
@therock was in Hawaii to support protesters who are trying to stop the construction of a giant telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii's tallest mountain.
"I wanted to come here and see our people and stand with them and support them," Johnson told reporters, CNN affiliate KGMB/KHNL reported.
"What I realized today, and obviously I've been following this for years now, is that it's bigger than a telescope. It's humanity. It's culture," Johnson was reported as saying Wednesday.

In the last few months I have been making an effort to wear and support sustainable brands that are helping our planet become a cleaner and better place. One such brand is @zouriveganshoes . They collect plastic from beaches in Portugal and turn it into comfortable and durable shoes! .

Spending today exploring Denver! And as I was grabbing my bag to go, I instinctively looked around for a couple of things:
- water bottle
- to go utensils
- tiffin
-mason jar
- 3 produce bags
- 2 grocery totes (ones a net bag and the other is a foldable one that I’ve had for years)
-(plant sadly not included)
.
It kind of hit me that I didn’t give any thought as to what I needed to bring. I just automatically grabbed it. I guess I've been doing this thing for a long enough time that it’s become instinctual
.
But it certaintly didn't use to be this way. I remember the first couple of times at the grocery store I'd forget my tote bags or I'd forget my produce bags in the car and i'd have to run out.
.

I read a stat that says it takes 21 days to form a habit. Idk if it’s just me, but I can’t seem to form any habit in that time frame.
.
I think it took me a month or two of consistent thought and effort.
But now its second nature! 🌱 hooray for the little things :)

Meet Steven @naturesalwaysright from San Diego, California, United States 🇺🇸 “I got inspired to grow food by realizing that food is medicine. I tried growing my own food and it tasted so much better and I thought how is this possible? I don't know anything about growing food and the quality is so much better and fresher than anything I can buy from the grocery store. I thought something isn't right here if a novice gardener is growing better food than the "Professional" farmers. I continued to learn and found out about all the chemicals and how big ag destroys soils and is interested only in lowering costs and not nutritive value. I also learned that the more flavor and fresher food is the more nutrients it also has. From then on I knew growing food naturally was my calling.

I grow food because it's my passion and I want to provide the most clean nutrient dense food to my customers. I also grow food to create content and teach others how to do it themselves and become self sufficient.

I follow No-till method and make my own compost, vermicompost, aerated compost/worm tea etc. I focus on soil health and foliar feeding to have the healthiest plants possible to resist pest and disease.

The biggest hurdle is selling your crops each and every week, but once you have a loyal customer base and markets it becomes much easier. My biggest reward is being able to feed people the healthiest food possible as well as my own family. I get a lot of joy out of helping as many as I can to learn to grow themselves so they can live a healthier and more independent life from the system.

I've done some local teaching and speaking but my main focus is my Youtube and social media because I can reach an unlimited number of people around the world. I believe the internet is the way I can have the biggest impact on others through farming. I truly believe we are at the beginning of the next agricultural revolution. One that is led by farmers and nature not government.”
