When do you feel strong? For me, it is after a good arm pump. But when fighting pain in the body; we can become discouraged and feel weak. .

As we age, muscular and skeletal pain becomes more common. Building muscle is the most natural way to stave off or correct these issues (with doctors permission, of course). .

For the past few weeks I have been dealing with bilateral knee pain. Most Yoga class moves, along with a lot of other exercises were off limits so I created a modified workout to address and avoid my specific pain.
Modified workouts keep you from loosing gains while allowing your body to heal. We are not working out to hurt, we are doing this to feel good in these bodies! .

Today is the first day I have worked out without knee support since the injury. I am feeling strong. Below you will find today's workout. .

A gym is actually a wonderful environment, everyone who steps through the door is there for their own self development. Everyones path to get to that self development will have varied so much and their reasons why will be vastly different but each person is giving up a part of their day to make themselves better

We are all on our own journey and while the differences can be huge from person to person, it doesn't mean we can't do it together. A great exercise to strengthen the thigh adductor muscles (groins).

I suggest starting with level 1 bent knee on bench at first before progressing on to levels 2 and 3.

I like to add these either into the warm up for a few short 5-10 second holds or at the end of a workout for 2-3 sets of 30 second holds depending on what the client needs.

- While the Deadlift is potentially the most useful single gym exercise, there are alternative variations that have their own benefits;
🔸 Sumo Deadlift - a wider foot stance reduces the distance the bar needs to travel, keeps the back in a more vertical position (working the Quads more and Hamstrings less) and reduces stress/chance of injury on the lower Lumbar Spine
🔸 Rack Pulls - only training the top part of a traditional Deadlift allows you to massively increase weight. It helps to keep your spine in a neutral position throughout the entire movement and increases lock out strength
🔸 Romanian Deadlifts - the same technique as a traditional Deadlift with the plates stopping just short of the floor rather than touching. This form keeps a constant tension and is particularly engaging for the Hamstrings, Lower Back and Glutes

The Extraordinary | The Indian Army

The troops being dropped off for a emergency reaction drill the background of the Himalayas. This was another of those moments I had to pinch myself to realise I was actually photographing this! My mission was to show a contemporary side to the Indian Armed Forces with the help of the @indianarmy.adgpi

• The inspiration behind this project was one person, my dad.
He was a Pilot for the Indian Army Aviation, like most kids that age I used to feel that dad was the coolest. I mean imagine flying a heavy metal machine, in some of the most harshest environments on earth (above the Himalayas to Rainforests and deserts), performing combat training and helping out paratroopers jump of his helicopter and calling it a days work. Growing up, "G.I Joe" used to be my favourite cartoon show but I used to think my dad does all these things everyday without anyone even making it a big deal.
We lost him to a helicopter crash 16 years ago. Somewhere deep inside I wanted to highlight what the life in the army is for some of these men and women in a contemporary way. That was the inception of project: The Extraordinary. The Indian Army is known to be one of the most versatile armed forces across the globe. The project aims to explore and highlight these extraordinary men, women and machines that make this organisation so diverse, multicultural and a unique force. I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to photograph a few training, pseudo combat and practice sessions of the Indian Army for this project in remote bases across India.

But most of all, this is tribute to my dad. :) .
I’m wholeheartedly thankful to everyone who made this possible, just a dream come true!

In my opinion, mental well-being of the player is paramount in determining their success. I feel that the importance of understanding yourself and how the brain works is slowly becoming a more important factor within the cricketing world. From a personal perspective, my cricketing performances have undoubtedly improved through spending more time on the mental aspect of the game. I’ve been meditating for the last three years which I’ve found has allowed me to really narrow down my focus in all areas of the game.
_
I found that preparation off the field (studying opposition, thinking about their possible tactics/plans) became a vital part of how I went about preparing for all games. Planning , preparation and finally delivering what I wanted, all came a lot easier through having a calmer and clearer frame of mind. Thankfully I’ve grown up in and around the cricket circles, and my love for the game has always been so strong I see it only as that, a game.
_
In terms of dealing with pressure on the big stage, I don’t feel it too much. Of course there’s times where the team will rely on you to take that catch, or hit that boundary or to just simply bowl that dot ball. I think those are the times where we as players have to understand that, at the end of the day, we’re playing a game we love, we’re getting paid to play a game we love, and (thankfully) we’re not in a life or death situation. This allows us to go back to the times when we played under no pressure whatsoever, helping us ultimately return to a calm state, where we know we can execute our skills.
_
In terms of our training environment we are very lucky. We’re a close knit group of guys who get along really well and are very open with our mental health to each other. That stems mainly from our head coach Ryan Campbell who has openly discussed his battles with mental illnesses in the past. Having someone like him (Ryan) lead our group has created a very open minded and “happy to talk” culture.
