Tips for staying healthy on call 👩‍⚕️🥗🩺

Find yourself reaching for sweets and chocolate at 2am? Or sneaking off to buy some greasy slap chips at 4am because you’re starving and that salad you made just isn’t appealing at all?
.
I used to do that. “Reward” myself with junk food for making it through a call. BUT I never felt good at the end of the call, and was always tired and bloated on call.
.
This year I’ve been making an effort to meal prep (or COOK FOOD MYSELF) instead of ordering Uber eats meals to see me through. And I feel so much better both on and after call!
.
Tips:
.
1. Change your mindset from “how can I reward myself/make myself feel better for being on call” to “how can I fuel my body so that I can feel my best and work effectively on call with out sugar highs and lows”.
.
2. Take the time before call to figure out how much food you will need for a call (sometimes needs some trial and error). And pack only that. Because if you pack some biscuits or whatever treat you like “in case” you need more food, guaranteed you will end up eating those first 😂🍫
.
3. Set aside time the day before to cook. Actually setting aside an hour or however long to prep your food, eg from 6-7pm, means you’re more likely to do it 🌟 Put on some good jams and dance in the kitchen while you cook; make it a fun activity 🕺🏼
.
4. Post pictures on Instagram to hold yourself accountable (optional) 🤪
.
5. Take enough water! Dehydration is a big cause of fatigue on call and you might mot even notice you’re dehydrated! I take a 1.5 liter water and make sure I finish it by the end of the call. .
Yes it’s a bit of a change at first, but it’s so worth it! 🌟

We started the page off just because we went vegan in August 2016. Back then it was a lot harder because a lot of people especially when eating out didn’t fully understand what the word vegan meant. So we just set the page up to try and help anyone along, if anyone needs any questions answered we are happy to help!

Trying to combat my tiredness by packing the nutrients in this morning with a spirulina, blueberry, avocado, hemp seed and banana smoothie bowl, topped with nuts. Tastes way better than it sounds. .

Hayatın yeni yeni sürprizlerine, zorluklarına birlikte karşı durmaya çalışırken sevgiyi hırpalamamak.
İşin zor kısmına gelmişiz; ama bu kısım olmadan da hep bir şeyler eksik kalacakmış.
Büyümeyecekmişiz.

Little bliss bites from @theglowingfridge, filled with raw, vegan, #glutenfree, refined sugar-free goodness. I made them with purple sweet potato to bind them so they’re lovely and pink inside and outside. The glaze is coconut oil, maple syrup and some tart cherry juice for colour, and they’re rolled in coconut and rose petals.

Me and my trusty sidekick💙The separation anxiety with this one is real😂He needs to be attached to me constantly and if I happen to need to leave the room for a brief moment I have to make sure he doesn’t see me leave (there’s lots of sneaky silent ninja moves to make this happen effectively!)😂BUT there’s something truly beautiful about him loving me so much that he can’t bear the thought of being apart for even one minute! This stage flies by so quickly and I’m trying to treasure every single moment with him (even if that means having a hunchback from carrying him EVERYWHERE!)😳😂Soon enough he’ll be Elijah’s age and far too busy for snuggles! Until then, if anyone needs me, I’ll be trapped underneath a sleeping Esra trying not to make any sudden movements😂☺️

7 years ago I went vegan for Lent. I was already vegetarian & I thought that after the 40 days I would go back to eating all the cheese and all the chocolate and all the eggs, mayonnaise etc. But I didn't. .
7 years ago I had to explain what a vegan was to many people, today all the major restaurants & supermarket chains are providing options & labelling foods.
.
Going vegan has been one of the best decisions I've ever made for so many reasons. I have learnt a lot, I eat a wider variety of foods & my acne has gone!
.

DETOX SMOOTHIE 💚🌱🌈

I've had pretty bad food poisoning this week, so I was worried about getting enough nutrients in as I was barely eating. Fear not, juicing is a wonderful way to ingest lots of nutrients without the effort of eating all those individual fruits & veggies!

This smoothie contains: Green Tea, Kale, 1/4 Courgette, 1/2 Green Apple, 15g Spirulina powder, Blueberries, Beetroot, 1/2 Lemon, 1/2 Carrot. I've included green, blue, red, yellow and orange plants, but didn't manage to get white/brown in there - but good choices could include cauliflower, garlic, onions, mushrooms and white fruit such as nectarines/peaches

Here's to health! 🧉 this smoothie was originally a lovely beetroot red but after adding spirulina it turned a darker shade. The more spirulina you add, the darker green it gets!! ps apologies I don't have an aesthetic paper straw😂

Many people believe that the rainforests are destroyed in order to provide soy products for vegans. Actually this is so wrong, quite the opposite infact: about 90% of soybeans are used for making animal products. Actually if we all were vegan, we would actually stop destroying the planet.

Blumenkohl mit Röstzwiebeln und Kartoffel Gratin mit veganen Käse. Beides lecker und günstig in der Herstellung. Blumenkohl, Kartoffeln, Zwiebeln, Simply V Veganer Reibegenuss, Soja Sahne, Hafermilch, Gewürze. Mehr muss nicht auf den Einkaufszettel💰

Den Blumenkohl vor seiner Backofen Visite in köchelndem Wasser blanchieren. Durch Zugabe von Salz kitzelt man mehr Geschmack aus dem Kollegen. In kaltem Wasser abschrecken. In eine Form geben, gewürzte Soja Sahne drüber. Zwiebeln in der Pfanne anrösten. Die Kartoffeln für das Gratin mit dem Gemüsehobel in feine Scheiben hobeln. Schichtweise mit dem veganen Käse in die Auflaufform packen. Eine Hälfte Soja Sahne die andere Hafer Milch mit Gewürzen nach Gusto vermengen, darüber geben. Eine letzte Schicht Käse als Abschluss, fertig. Beides bei 180 Grad 30 - 40 Minuten überbacken. Ist schwer genaue Angaben zu machen. Jede Kartoffel verhält sich anders in Sachen Flüssigkeit und Backzeit. Blumenkohl wächst wie er will, da gibt es keine Einheitsgröße. Gargrad testen ist wichtig vor dem Anrichten 🍽

Hey Ladies, this one’s for you…

When was the last time you did something for yourself?
.
A few weeks ago, I decided to go on a pretty intense shred program. It meant that I wasn’t there at every beck and call for my partner and family. My first instinct when I was thinking about doing it was that I was concerned that I would let my family down. My next thought was, who would look after this or that, or make dinner or do the floors or do the washing or make the beds, etc, etc, etc. .
For the past 18 months I had gone deep into mindset work and was less concerned about my fitness but now it was time to get my body back to where I was comfortable. Some people would think I was fine before, but I wasn’t happy with how my body was feeling.
.
So after a deep discussion with my family, I entered the program. Were there issues as the matriarch of the family spent more time focused on herself YES!! ABSOLUTETLY!! .
As a family unit, we all learnt so much and all our lives are changed and as individuals.
.
You see, in the past I had let my kids become to reliant on me that I couldn’t budge without them being under my feet. I would joke about them waiting for me at the toilet door when I went, but this kinda stuff gets bloody heavy after a while!
.
Over the past 4 weeks, I felt selfish, felt like I was failing the kids, the house was messier than usual, the kids sometimes just had baked beans on toast for dinner (actually more often than not!). The kids were asked to do more chores than ever before. .
We all went through a massive adjustments as I took a step back and really went deep on working on myself intensively for 4 weeks. I knew that I needed an arse kicking for 4 weeks to budge the body fat. I knew that after struggling to reduce body fat for a few months, I was getting really unmotivated and tried to talk myself into just thinking I should get used to this new body of mine.
.
I set boundaries, I stepped in less and the kids worked things out for themselves. The hung their own clothes on the washing line, they learnt to fend for themselves in the kitchen, they learnt to put healthy meals together before asking.

As a family unit, we all learnt so much and all our lives are changed and as individuals.

You see, in the past I had let my kids become to reliant on me that I couldn’t budge without them being under my feet. I would joke about them waiting for me at the toilet door when I went, but this kinda stuff gets bloody heavy after a while!
.
Over the past 4 weeks, I felt selfish, felt like I was failing the kids, the house was messier than usual, the kids sometimes just had baked beans on toast for dinner (actually more often than not!). The kids were asked to do more chores than ever before. .
We all went through a massive adjustments as I took a step back and really went deep on working on myself intensively for 4 weeks. I knew that I needed an arse kicking for 4 weeks to budge the body fat. I knew that after struggling to reduce body fat for a few months, I was getting really unmotivated and tried to talk myself into just thinking I should get used to this new body of mine.

I set boundaries, I stepped in less and the kids worked things out for themselves. The hung their own clothes on the washing line, they learnt to fend for themselves in the kitchen, they learnt to put healthy meals together before asking.

There were a couple things that I let hold me back from going vegan and eggs was one of them. I used to think ‘ what the hell am I going to cook if I can’t use eggs?’
Well, here’s the answer! I use the flaxseed meal and water the most - it’s quicker than cracking an egg 🥚!

For the past 15 odd years I’ve been all about fitness. I’ve been a group fitness instructor, a cross fitter, a PT and everything in between. I’ve studied both a nutrition degree and diploma and can’t get enough of the nerdy stuff!
Recently I changed things up completely and relieved a massive amount of pressure. You see, I was stuck in the belief that I had to eat meat. I needed the iron and protein. I was doing what I thought was good, but neglecting what was good for me. I thought vegan was extreme but I liked the concept. I also thought I needed to squat heavy to build legs.
In a funny way, I felt selfish because I would be focusing on myself. Does that make sense? My kids wanted to eat meat so I ate it with them.
Anyway, I ended up being pretty unhappy on my body. My clothes weren’t fitting and I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. So I changed everything to see what would happen.
I went vegan last year and never looked back! There was a relief when I finally took the pressure off myself to eat meat.
I also stopped squatting. It’s just not good for my body. My ankles, knees and back are not great and after many years of trying, I just figured I’d ditch them. I put myself in a 4 week challenge to see what I could achieve with being strict and dedicating time to my fitness and I’m super happy with the results so far. 10 days to go 💪🏼💜

FFS get off the merry-go-round!! The amount of people who pour their money into new fitness and nutrition programs, only to end up back at square one or worse, just astounds me.

Here's the funny thing though - they all work!

Yep, the absolutely do.
But here's why they don't work for you.
I'm going to let you in on a secret that I've only just come across these last couple of years. It's the key. 🔑
Do you want to know exactly how to lose the weight, or get fitter, more toned and healthier for the long term?

I can guarantee you that if you nail this, any and every program will be a success for you.
Before I tell you, let me put it into context.

I started in the fitness industry about 15 years ago, and got my nutrition qualifications shortly after that. It's a massive industry as you know. So, it's always been a question in my mind as to why people don't have the health and fitness that they want. I mean, it's not rocket science. Everyone knows that they should and should't consume. Everyone knows they should exercise yet, here we are.
Now a little while ago, I got to the point where i felt like I had more to offer my clients to get them over the line. To coach them to achieving everything they desired, but outside of fitness and nutrition, I decided to go all in with figuring out why we are in this predicament.
I've spent 2 years on this and I'm finally ready to share it with you all.
It's mindset.

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I've been banging on about mindset for the best part of this year.

Here's the thing: it's very rare to find a trainer who puts as much emphasis on mindset as they do on training and nutrition, yet it's as critical as nutrition. I would even go so far as to say its 50% mindset, 30% nutrition and 20% exercise.

Let me explain. I've figured out that the reason why most people do reach their goals is because they haven't got their mindset right. What's the difference between you and an athlete - the mindset. ARE YOU READY TO STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP?? Here's what I know:

I know that you've been beating yourself up because you are not as fit and healthy as you know you should be or want to be, but no matter what you do, you haven't been able to maintain good health and fitness over the long term? And the older you get, the harder it is. 👩‍🦳 I get it. You've done everything!! You've done so many bloody online programs, diets, nutrition programs you've read in magazines or books, etc. You've joined a gym only t use it for a little while so you've wasted a few hundred dollars, you're not where you want to be and you're well and truly sick of it! 🤬

Then you blame everything else - your lifestyle, your stress, the kids, the hubby, your work.......... and you're right, all those factors do play a part.

You then think that it's hopeless because of the kids, the hubby, the stress, work, no gym, etc,etc.

I'm here to tell you, IT'S NOT YOU!! You can stop blaming yourself 🙅‍♀️ Right here. Right now.

Here's why: because you're basically being set up to fail so the fitness industry keeps you coming back! (I bet that triggered a few people!!) You see, the major thing missing in all of these programs is that it's not made for YOU!! It's a one-size-fits-all approach that just doesn't work for most people. It doesn't take into account your hormones, your lifestyle, your stress levels, your mindset, your food intolerances, likes and dislikes. What vitamins and minerals YOUR body needs and so so much more.

Here's the thing. I have maintained optimal health and fitness through some pretty tough times so I know it's possible no matter what your circumstances.
Through 2 pregnancies (one with twins) (the photo below was AFTER my twins), having 3 kids 18 months apart, through a devastating divorce, the loss of my Father, through being a solo Mum, working full-time, being bullied in the workplace and having a sh!t load of stress. Throughout it all, I maintained my perfect bodyweight and muscle tone. I never get sick and I'm living my best life! Because life isn't a dress rehearsal so I'm doing everything I can to enjoy every second. (Continued in comments)

This time of year is tricky for me.
I'm usually feeling tired because I've worked my butt off all year.

It's usually a time that I kinda miss my family

And to be honest, I'm a bit awkward with the whole Xmas day thing.

Let me explain.... Lately I've been really pushing the limits and the Universe just gave me a back hand. I'm trying to do too much. I always have. If my day isn't chockers, I don't know what to do with myself. I've been dubbed as a workaholic more than once 😏

I haven't spoken to my Mum for around 10 years. We were never really close and I finally stood up and refused to be spoken to and treated like shit and she hasn't spoken to me since.
So with that being said, I've often had Xmas's on my own, or with just me and the kids or joined in on other family xmas's.
It's hard to get into the Xmas spirit and I know I'm not alone.

Obviously as a Mum you want to show the kids the true essence of xmas but it's hard to muster up the fake excitement. Don't get me wrong, I see glimpses of excitement but then those old resentments rise up and pull me back out.

Xmas when I was growing up was usually not pleasant. Early on my Mum and Dad used to fight bitterly over custody of me. Then when my Mum remarried, we used to spend Xmas at my Step Dad's Mum's place. I never forget her swatting flies on the window as she was serving up with food with the same hand. The house also had a rank smell in it so I could never be there long. My step dad used to disappear to the pub across the road and get pissed as and then my Mum used to get angry with him - Fa la la la laaaa la la la la 🎄
Anyhoo, when I left home and joined the Air Force, I usually went to friends houses for xmas so I was a bit of a floater. It was good in a way because I had the freedom to do whatever I felt like.

Fast forward to this year and this past stuff still comes up. But this year will be different. This year I won't let myself be dragged down by all those old stories.

This year I'm taking on a whole new perspective and I invite you to do it with me.

{ IT'S GONNA BE OK }

Things may seem like they never go to plan for you but.... It's gonna be ok

It may seem like the Universe is playing a cruel joke on you, over and over again, but... It's gonna be ok

It may seem like God wanted to punish you more by taking your Father away, way too soon but... It's gonna be ok

You may feel like you don't fit into the family you're surrounded by but... It's gonna be ok

Those bullies at school might not know how much they hurt you, but... It's gonna be ok

People don't see your pain behind that smile because you hide it so well but... It's gonna be ok

All you want to feel is unconditional love but all you get is rejection but... It's gonna be ok

It may feel like everyone you let in close will reject sooner or later, but... It's gonna be ok

You might feel like you should just live this life alone, shut everyone out to save you the heart break but.... It's gonna be ok

How do I know?

Because I am the future version of you.

I know that all these experiences will make you the best coach for women and will your impact will have a massive ripple affect.

These experiences will be used to positively impact on everyone around you.

Happy Monday everyone ✌🏼Whenever I make cheezy sauce for nachos I think ”Ugh this stuff is so good….I could just eat it by the spoonful” 😁. And then I realized....all ingredients are pretty healthy so why not just turn it into easy but creamy and delicious soup? 😋

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐳𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 🌱
Ingredients:
6 small-medium potatoes (4 cups chopped)
1 medium sweet potato (2 cups chopped)
1 medium onion
4 garlic cloves
1/2 cup cashews
1/4 cup pickled jalapeños + 1/4 cup brine
1 tbsp veggie paste *
About 6 cups filtered water
To season:
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1 tbsp tamari
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
Optional for serving:
Beans
Vegan Chorizo
Fresh jalapeños and lime
Avocado
Chips _____________________________________________
Peel and roughly chop all vegetables.
Add them to a large pot together with cashews, jalapeños, brine and veggie paste and cover with water.
Bring to a boil, cover and let simmer until potatoes are very soft. (I used the @instantpotofficial for this, manual setting 20 minutes)
Let cool down slightly and transfer to a blender (or use an immersion blender) and add nutritional yeast, tamari, smoked paprika and cumin and blend until smooth.
Serve with some chips, beans, vegan chorizo, avocado, a drizzle of lime juice and enjoy! 💛

This recipe makes a pretty large batch (about 4 servings) so scale down if you want to have less soup! It thickens as it cools but you can always add a bit more water to adjust consistency. *I used the organic @betterthanbouillon paste .

1/2 tsp cumin 
Optional for serving:
Beans
Vegan Chorizo 
Fresh jalapeños and lime
Avocado 
Chips _____________________________________________
Peel and roughly chop all vegetables.
Add them to a large pot together with cashews, jalapeños, brine and veggie paste and cover with water. 
Bring to a boil, cover and let simmer until potatoes are very soft. (I used the @instantpotofficial for this, manual setting 20 minutes)
Let cool down slightly and transfer to a blender (or use an immersion blender) and add nutritional yeast, tamari, smoked paprika and cumin and blend until smooth. 
Serve with some chips, beans, vegan chorizo, avocado, a drizzle of lime juice and enjoy! 💛

This recipe makes a pretty large batch (about 4 servings) so scale down if you want to have less soup! It thickens as it cools but you can always add a bit more water to adjust consistency. *I used the organic @betterthanbouillon paste .
