I left home and walked across the road waiting for my GPS to kick in. I realised I didn’t have my keys and for the first (I think!) I’m my life, I had locked myself out. I had to wake my neighbour to get back in to see my keys in the lock on the door of my flat, have a mini meltdown on the stairs afterwards and wonder whether I should go and run or not. I did. 1km warm up and then a 10km tempo run. Do I feel better for going out and running? Maybe 20%. But it’s better than if I hadn’t. Idag är det exakt på dagen 6 månader sedan jag började min viktresa! Och här är jag, dryga 25 kilo lättare!!!

Jag kan inte förstå att det har gått så bra! Andra gånger jag försökt gå ner i vikt har det varit svårare, jag har fått kämpa mer och det har tagit längre tid. Tack vare periodisk fasta så har det för mig aldrig varit speciellt jobbigt. Så glad jag gjorde denna resan, även om jag har 5-6 kilo kvar till min målvikt.

Building up to be able to do pull-ups one day.💪🏽I mean I can do a pull-up, but literally only 1 and only if I’m having a good day, and only if all the planets are fucking aligned and the moon is blue. 🙄
Anyways, I used to struggle a lot with these partial pull-ups but I can bang out 6-8 reps in 2-3 sets much better and easier now. ☺️

Took a couple days off due to pain in my leg. I didn't want to cause injury.
On another note I had Korean barbecue and when I weighed myself the next day I had gained 6 freaking pounds. Likely from salt. Idk. I'm scared to weigh myself again. I've been decent with food since then.

I vividly remember going to a kickboxing class on my college campus with a friend of mine. The instructor was a ripped body builder woman, and I’ll admit I was a bit intimidated, but excited nonetheless. Until the push-ups.

She told the class to do ten push-ups and if anyone let their knees hit the floor the entire class had to start over again.

My heart sank. I couldn’t even do ONE regular push-up let alone TEN.

The class started the push-ups. I shakily did one, two, maybe three, but I just couldn’t hold myself up any longer. My knees hit the floor and she shouted out to the class to start over.

I was mortified.

If my face could have gotten any redder from the physical exertion on top of the shame, it might have caught fire. I felt embarrassed, guilty, and blatantly called out in a room I already felt so out of place in.

I wanted to like this class, to find an activity that I could enjoy doing that was good for me too. But I knew in the moment I would never come to another kickboxing class there ever again.

All this to say, I get it. I understand being uncomfortable working out in public, feeling embarrassed about not knowing how to use the equipment, or being terrified that everyone is staring at you.

But here’s the thing - for the most part everyone is too caught up on their own selves to pay much attention to you in the first place. And hey, maybe gyms aren’t your thing! But that doesn’t mean that exercising isn’t your thing.

Maybe that kickboxing instructor wasn’t the right fit for me. But that didn’t mean that the Zumba class I never tried taking wasn’t either. The best way to find out what your thing is, is to go out and try something, anything!

Maybe for you it’s hot yoga, barre, or cycling. Maybe it’s kayaking, hiking, or dance parties in your living room.

I’ve lost 122 pounds WITHOUT a gym membership. I run and walk outside and use free YouTube workouts from the comfort of my living room with hand-me-down dumbbells and a $10 yoga mat from Amazon.

M O V E M E N T is for everyone, my friends. Don’t let a silly kickboxing class or mishap at the gym convince you otherwise. You’ve just got to find the movement that’s right for you.

Ok it’s not fair to say that eating two @questnutrition protein bars for breakfast this morning was an actual breakfast, it’s more like I over slept and needed food so took them and ran and ate them as I drove to work! So this is actually a comeback breakfast! This is to undo my over sleeping and actually make a real breakfast with wholesome ingredients.

in honour of transformation tuesday; february 2018 - february 2020⁣

something that was a hard pill to swallow was me admitting that in the first photo I was using some pretty unhealthy coping mechanisms to fight the internal battle I was having over some past experiences. It wasn’t until many months later that I realized what I was doing and decided to regain control of my life and put my energy towards something more positive. I decided I owed it to myself to at least try, what did I have to lose? ⁣

if it weren’t for my loved ones taking photos of me during this time I don’t think I’d have anything to compare to - so shout out to you guys - you’re the real MVP’s! ⁣

it is the aforementioned experiences that toughened me up and strengthened my character and everyday I choose to see how far I’ve come rather than how far I’ve yet to go. I choose to see strength over struggles and devotion over hardships and everyday I wake up with a smile knowing my faith is greater than my fear! 🦋

My life has been a constant battle with self image.. I first started gaining weight around kindergarten, and it kind of just exploded in my face after that. I was bullied, the weird girl in the corner with the beer belly. Going into middle school, I went into a dark phase, bringing me to drugs and depression. I was sooo young when I first started doing drugs.. I was addicted to anything downer, anything that would make me forget for a second how much I hated myself. Eventually, I became my own biggest bully. To this day, I am my biggest bully which is more dangerous than having others bully.. you have so much power over your life.
So, let’s talk SCIENCE and FACTS. Neurons that fire together, wire together. This means when you repeat a certain action or thought, it’s easier to do the same the next time and the next. Eventually, this becomes part of your brain and mind.
When going through my weightloss journey, I realized that my mind needed more of transformation than my body, and if I worked on my mind first, my body would naturally come after.
Here are some things I want you and I to work on:

Take total control of your attention. Ask “Where are my thoughts right now? Are they supporting me or self protecting in a negative way?”. Be conscious of what’s going on and your emotion. Pay attention. Check in with your thoughts. The more we notice what were thinking about the more we can interrupt what we’re thinking about. If it’s negative and not supporting you, redirect it. Close your eyes and visualize a more positive outcome.
Do this THREE times a day! Morning lunch and dinner.
Next, Come up with three words that describe your ideal self. Example: Present excited bold bubbly loving etc
Now I want again three times a day to look in the mirror and say hey, I am present. I am bold. I am healthy.
LET SCIENCE DO THE WORK!🥳 Learn to love yourself through you positive enforcements and actions.
