    Achieving work life balance is not impossible. It's just different for everybody and changes at different stages of life. For example, the balance needed as a single, unattached man/woman is different from that needed as a parent or a newlywed. Just as it is different when pursuing a degree.

To get the balance you need:

ℹ️Do an inventory to identify the key areas of your life.

ℹ️Determine your priorities

ℹ️Schedule time off for yourself and for self-care; find time every day, every week to recharge or take a vacation when if you can afford one. This could be a few seconds to just take deep breaths or even just take a short walk.

ℹ️Separate time for each key area and be as strict as possible about it. That is, don’t bring work home with you when not needed, don’t be online during family time etc.

ℹ️Keep the right mental attitudes.

ℹ️Read up more as articles abound on this topic to help you figure out what is balance for you and how to achieve it

ℹ️Stay flexible. Realize that, your work life balance needs are subject to change due to life occurrences and adjust accordingly.

ℹ️Talk with an experienced practitioner if necessary. 
In all, realize that, your physical, mental, psychological and emotional wellbeing are paramount to giving your best to every area of your life and never forget to take care of you.

    In our weekly series 'Work Well Being'  that aims to add little splashes of happiness at your workplace and make it a place that you love coming back to, we will share small things you can do that will make you love your colleagues and office a little more. .

The first tip of this series is - bring a plant into your workplace. A number of studies have been conducted that indicate indoor plants can reduce stress levels in work environments. What's more, they also reduce the chances of illnesses and bring a smile to your face! They have also shown to improve productivity and a sense of accountability. So, if you don't already have a plant on your desk, bring one on your way to work on Monday. If you already do, show us your pretty plant!

    Before I hand over to another colleague to give a sneak peek into their #LifeAtPhilips experience, I just wanted to also share why for me Philips is a great company to work for 😊. While we work hard to making life better via our products and solutions, we also have the room and flexibility to grow and balance it with our personal life. And that for me means being able to spend time with my family when I want, going biking 🚲 to try and stay in shape or something as simple as letting my creativity out by doodling on a banana 🍌 for my kids school lunch. The little things can make all the difference ✨.

    The ability to be creative is one of my favorite things about the Live Rich Planner.

Personally, I love doodling. I love being able to have the space to let my creativity show.

However, doodling isn’t the only way you can be creative in your Planner.

Color-code. Add pictures. Add stickers. Make it unique. Make it YOURS and most importantly - HAVE FUN.

    I have the quote, ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup,’ pinned to my vision board because it’s essential to looking after our mental and physical health 🙌🏼 ⁣

This month I’ve been feeling like my cup has been in desperate need of a refill so I made a list of everything that makes me feel good and that I feel like doing (eg. Nature, playing with Winston, meditation, sleep, spending time with my girlfriends). I also made a list of anything I don’t want to do or things that I see as ‘drainers’ and should be mindful of steering clear while I try to not only conserve but replenish my energy levels. Some also included a few work commitments and social commitments 💻🎥⁣

It’s only been a few days but I feel such a huge improvement and so much more centred and happy 🙌🏼🌼 ⁣
⁣
Remember, your needs are valid. ⁣
Boundaries are essential. ⁣
Self care is not selfish. ⁣
And it’s up to you to put yourself first. ⁣
⁣
Cancelling plans and re organising your schedule for a week or two isn’t much in the scheme of things, so why are we so afraid to disappoint and show that we are in fact human beings and not machines? I had to give myself permission to take a step back and accept my ‘humanness’ which I think is a true form of self love and self compassion. What’s one or two weeks when it means you can be your best self again and feel whole? 💕🌻🤷🏼‍♀️xx ⁣
