You’ve done spinal balance in a lot of classes I’m sure (reaching opposite arm and leg)...but have you ever tried it reaching the SAME arm and leg (while keeping the hips and shoulders square?) It’s about a billion times more challenging, and chances that you’ll need to lower a hand or toe to stabilize are about 99.9%. Give it a shot and lmk what you think. .

It’s day 1 of the #WinterWarriorFun yoga challenge—a 7-day warrior sequence January 20-26.
Pose of the Day: Warrior 1

This pose used to be so awkward and unstable for me, with an uncomfortable twist with a hitch in my lower back. Now I love it! My mobility has improved, allowing more of the lengthening of the spine and the ability to really press through the outside corner of the back heel. I feel the warrior power now!

I’m so close to being done with teacher training. With just 1 and a 1/2 day left I’m sitting here and reflecting on this past weekend, and the teacher training as a whole. .

.

First off this weekend started out with a special ritual, and intention setting exercise that was magical. It ended with feelings of excitement to see where each teacher has come. It just seems like everyone has just blossomed into these amazing yoga teachers. Yay us!

Secondly, when looking back over the course of the last 5 months i have demanded more growth from myself than ever before. My internal focus, and spirituality is very clear. And it was super surprising to have that come up. I feel like i had an internal awakening. It wasn’t all at once, but it happened, and I’m sooooo thankful. .

.
.

The group of students i took the training with. I dont know of another time in my life to have relationships that were so deep, so quick. These people are my soul fam, and i love every single one of them. They will forever have a place in my soul. .
.
.
.
Lastly, how did i get so lucky to stumble into Tower Yoga? I literally moved to Fresno in July. I was thinking i was going to take a teacher training, i just needed to find one that fit with my schedule. I decided to take the one week free at Tower Yoga. I took one class with Kellee, and DM’d her on IG asking about the teacher training. She asked me to meet with Jamo to answer all my questions. I was ready to sign up then and there! Like i was a week in, and felt like i was being called there. Jamo asked me to give it another week, take one of his classes, then decide. I took his class, and was hooked. I had never practiced yoga like that. Both Kellee and Jamo have a unique way of teaching that makes you want to work as hard as you possibly can with in your abilities. It’s amazing. So the week went by, and i knew then and there i was signing up. I literally wrote the check on the last day of “early bird pricing”. It was like the whole experience was meant to be. I was meant to experience this teacher training at this time. .

ONE MINUTE MINDFULNESS⠀

Let’s take a minute to be more mindful when we are eating. ⠀

This one can be a little harder as many of us eat on autopilot, maybe we’re eating at our desks and not really taking much notice of what we’re eating. ⠀

Next time you eat, give your food your full attention. What are you eating? What does it look, feel and smell like? How does it taste and what is the texture like? Be mindful of chewing the food and each bite you take. ⠀

Mindfulness uses techniques which helps us manage our thoughts and feelings rather than being overwhelmed by them. If you are feeling a little stressed, anxious or overwhelmed use the 1 minute mindfulness exercise above to help refocus, wherever you are.⠀

Yoga practice progresses day by day, millimeter by millimeter.
A miraculous progress doesn’t happen suddenly. Without any effort, you won’t manage an advanced pose.
That doesn’t mean you should spend much time to improve your yoga level. The most important is your continuous practice, even if you practice for only a few minutes per day.

When I started to go to a yoga studio, my body was terribly stiff. I just wished I’d have my body gotten softened a little bit.
Now I’m told I have an amazing flexibility, which is rare for men (but who says flexibility is only for women ? 😁)
This seems a miracle, if I remember how stiff my body was. However this is sure a result of my continuous practice.

Comparing this picture taken at the end of December with previous photos, I see I still have gained more flexibility.
In 2020, will I attain the complete wheel (will my hands catch my ankles)? 🤔

Yoga practice progresses day by day, millimeter by millimeter.
A miraculous progress doesn’t happen suddenly. Without any effort, you won’t manage an advanced pose.
That doesn’t mean you should spend much time to improve your yoga level. The most important is your continuous practice, even if you practice for only a few minutes per day.

When I started to go to a yoga studio, my body was terribly stiff. I just wished I’d have my body gotten softened a little bit.
Now I’m told I have an amazing flexibility, which is rare for men (but who says flexibility is only for women ? 😁)
This seems a miracle, if I remember how stiff my body was. However this is sure a result of my continuous practice.

Comparing this picture taken at the end of December with previous photos, I see I still have gained more flexibility. 
In 2020, will I attain the complete wheel (will my hands catch my ankles)? 🤔

#Maksikanagasana Grasshoppers are said to bring about good luck...and while I believe in their energy, I also know that “manifestation” is not vision boards and “putting it out into the universe.” This idea of abundance is making👏🏻it👏🏻happen. It’s forging ahead, creating, DOING. Making the decisions, performing the tasks, living.
We need the luck and good fortune brought about by a grasshopper but only to ignite the fire that’s ALREADY burning. Think of your spiritual luck as more inspiration than confirmation.

Remember that you ultimately work for yourself. You don’t owe anything to anyone.

Remember your strength at all times. You’ve made it through so much already.

Remind yourself of your fearlessness. It’s the reason for your accomplishments.

Stay true to what you believe. That matters more than the ideals of others.

Don’t take no for an answer. Obstacles are there for a reason. You have lessons yet to learn.

It’s just impossible not to move, feel and flow... In the last days I had some issues with tension in my back, shoulders and neck. I tried new ways of climbing training to become stronger for the next outside climbing season but this also results in some reaction from my body. So I just felt like moving mindfully, slowly and intuitively in this morning yoga session.

I followed my intuition and tried to be guided by my bodies needs and responses and made lot of micro movements in the single asanas and variations to feel more space and explore more unknown areas of my body and range of motion. After this sequence I felt so much better in my body and in my mind ❤️ Video is up to 8x speed.

Day 17 #ayearofyoga2020 @cyogalife is parsva kukkutasana but I tried #parsvabakasana from #tripodheadstand and this time I could extend my legs and went for #koundinyasana I think it’s the first time I succeeded in this transition.I blamed for my leggings which were too slippery and made it harder😛

Sentire e Ascoltare...c’è una bella differenza.

Come Personal Trainer e in generale come umana 😊 credo fortemente nel l’importanza dell’ascolto.

Ascoltare se stessi è il passo più complicato 👉🏻 Significa fermarsi un attimo e rivolgere l’attenzione internamente 👉🏻 Significa comprendere le proprie emozioni e sapersi accettare

Poi c’è l’ascolto verso gli altri ⭐️ quell’atteggiamento di accoglienza che significa dare attenzione all’altra persona.

Senza giudizio.
Mettendo da parte il personale modo di vedere le cose...perché quello che ho capito dagli eventi della vita ⭐️ è che se va bene per me non significa che vada bene anche a te!

Scelgo io ogni giorno come sentirmi, come vivere le mie giornate, quali emozioni provare. Le lascio fluire dentro di me in modo naturale. 🙏
Sono state due settimane davvero intense, interiormente. Gennaio, i suoi allineamenti planetari, il momento di vita in cui sono, mi hanno regalato davvero un gran movimento interiore. Un coro gospel di cose da ascoltare, vedere e di cui percepire l'essenza.❤️

Ho trovato questo processo bellissimo, intenso, a tratti complesso, ma ho sempre vissuto ogni emozione con fiducia. Perchè so che questo percorso è quello perfetto per me.
Inspiro ed espirando trasformo il vecchio in nuovo.
Sì, a volte anche io vado in iperventilazione, le trasformazioni sono un po' così.

I found this process beautiful, intense, sometimes complex, but I have always experienced every emotion with confidence. Because I know that this path is the perfect one for me.
I inhale and exhale I transform the old into new.

For me the one special place that is truly your own is your bedroom. Moving into a new place this year meant being able to create a space that I’ve always wanted or envisioned.⁣

Sunday Devotional. ☆
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First: I am feeling wildly grateful to do work that allows me to express my soul and helps other people relate more deeply to their own. I really, really love yoga. FYI.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Second: I read something about prayer not long ago that I loved, about how prayer can go far beyond the traditional head-bowed, talking-to-the-divine of type of deal. That so much of what we do is prayer: saying “Get home safely” to a loved one is a prayer. Making plans is prayer. Evoking a certain kind of energy in yoga or meditation or movement or song or reading is prayer. We spend more time than we think calling out for what we want and need and hope for; I’ve been doing it a lot myself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Right now, my prayer is that abundance, opportunity, support and wellbeing come to a beloved of mine. What about you? If you care to share, I would like to offer you the space to put your prayers, whatever they sound like. You can share them in the comments below, just to know that they are written somewhere, someone has seen them, that you and your heart are held. I think it matters, a lot. I love you. ❤️

when normal plank gets too boring.... adding 23kg weights to it 👶🏻😂💪 haha
holding this for 1minute was challenging, but very effective on abs 😆♥ haha

wrists under shoulders, heals pushing back, chest engaged, head reaching forward... with or without weights, where i bring my attention to is the same 😊 focusing on what i experience in myself ✌

Parsva bhuja dandasana is a side arm-balancing posture commonly known as dragonfly. Translates literally from Sanskrit to "side arm staff pose" or "side arm stick pose." The challenging balance makes it a good pose for building mind-body connection, awareness and concentration. You need an open hip and strong arms and shoulders.
This pose, can be helpful for teaching a more lighthearted and fun approach to yoga practice.

Hay que probar cosas diferentes! Te ha pasado que te ciclas en una postura y nada más no se deja? Desapégate del fruto de tus acciones y haz las cosas por que se deben hacer, como dice Sri Dharma Mittra. La práctica es un ofrecimiento diario a la divinidad. No se trata de competir en las posturas, o forzar el cuerpo. Se trata de ir creciendo y descubriendo formas por medio del trabajo y la disciplina diarios. Si el asana de hoy no se deja, hay muchas variaciones para intentar.
Este #vasisthasana tenía ganas de probarlo, pero siempre sentía que no era el día..., y de repente PUM! Se trata de intentar, trabajar, dejar ir....

Falling Angel/Fallen Angel es una postura inventada por el gran maestro Edward Clark. Se llama Devaduuta Panna Asana.
Para hacer esta postura necesitas ya dominar el cuervo de lado o parsva bakasana/parvritta koundinyasana. Se necesita control en tus brazos, ya que debemos prevenir enviar el peso al cuello y cabeza.
El hombro de atrás puede llegar al piso o no, y si quieres salir de manera divertida, de ahí te impulsas a chaturanga girando todo tu cuerpo como break dancer.

It gets dark early. Yesterday I smiled through a whole boot camp class I went to. My matcha arrived in the mail. I’ve missed dancing. Going to take myself out tonight to dance. I’ve never done that before. I had two awesome humans over for a private yoga lesson today and we moved and talked for hours. I’m figuring out how to use quick books. Dogs are a lot of work. I still haven’t watered my plants. The cat pooped in one. I’ve made my bed every day this week. I’m going to the ocean on Monday. Sometimes I have RBF while I practice. One time the whole practice was a giant visualization of love making. That was a different magic level. I sleep in the middle of my bed with the window blinds open. Last night I could hear my plant’s leaves uncurling in the dark. Again. Tonight, my youngest told me he used the toilet rag to wash all the doorknobs in the house. I made him clean them again. With a different rag. I love vacuumed stairs. Tomorrow morning I’m going to make myself avocado toast. I like that my butt is sore from lifting. I really like coaching people in movement. That’s no surprise. I just think if you can find joy in the work, it will change your life. Especially because that’s how you’ll start to show up everywhere, in pleasure. In attention. My mantra today is “you are wanted.” Sometimes I doubt all the things, but mostly I know that everything I want is already here. Also CBD muscle rub is legit. Just figured that out in the past two weeks. Sometimes I don’t know what to say, but these are some things currently in my head.

Day 6 of #yogisyamaniyamas2 is the Niyama “saucha” or “cleanliness.” When we strive to purify the mind, the heart and our speech we are practicing saucha.
There is a reason the Yamas and Niyamas come before asana in Pantajali’s 8 limbs of yoga. It’s because if we come into the physical practice without purifying the mind, we bring those things that do not serve us onto our mats-making it much harder.

Cleanliness in our environment is also essential, because for me it lessens anxiety and helps eliminate distraction. In the classroom, I try to remember to not walk over or on someone else’s yoga mat or wearing shoes into the yoga room because those are sacred space.

SMARTPHONE DETOX
Anyone else feel like some days you are superglued to your phone? Here are a few tips to get off your phone and back into the real world (this list is aimed at myself as much as you guys!)
- Turn off notifications
- No phone for the first hour in the morning and the last hour before bed.
- No phones at the dinner table or in the bathroom
- Monitor your screen time
- Buy a watch
- Delete any apps you don’t need
- Use airplane mode
- Keep your phone out of sight in social situations
- Set phone free periods every day
- Use a handwritten diary for scheduling appointments.
