After my charity class in Bangkok on 11/23 I’m headed home! Haven’t been home in 7 months really. It’s going to be nice to really solidify my manual for all the modular trainings I’m doing in 2020.

First one coming up in Shanghai and Hong Kong 🇭🇰 🇭🇰🇭🇰 on “poses and progressions” where we dive into proper engagements and what you can do (in your own practice or your students’ to deepen in practice and understanding) 🧠🧠🧠🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️. If I’ve learned anything from watching #queereye and #bobbyberk, it’s that your home and your space can dramatically influence your mood and your life! In our new place I have a space that I get to fill from scratch, my yoga room! It’s a bit daunting to think of things to fill it with, because I want to be intentional. I want to create a relaxing and space that leaves me feeling invigorated and inspired. Any ideas? Plants? Tapestries? Pillows? Help! 🎍🏠🔮🤷🏻‍♀️

How To: Drop Back Into The Wheel Pose

1. Measure the distance between your shoulders and the wall.
2. Mountain Pose
3. Lift your spine and your ribs up
4. Drop your head back and look at the ceiling
5. Raise your hands up and towards the wall, keep lifting chest and press your hips forward
6. Look at the wall and walk down the wall with your palms, keep breathing
7. If needed lift your heels up and slightly bend your knees
8. Touch hands down to the floor close to the wall
9. Walk with your feet towards the wall and push your chest to the wall. Breathe.
Be safe and patient with your body. Warm up your shoulders and legs before attempting this pose.

I wasn't gonna post this photo because I'm not "perfectly" in the pose. Then I remembered... I AM perfectly in this pose, because this is how my body wanted to take this shape today. A large part of yoga is about acceptance. Too often, I fall victim to wanting to change, progress, level up, or move upwards in some way. But an upward path is not always part of the journey. I have to remind myself that the Earth has many obstacles to endure, and not all of them are mountains. Some of them are plateaus, valleys, or oceans. Why should those on top of mountains get all the credit? As I continue along the plateau I have found myself on, I am called to admire the beauty from this standpoint. Meet Gina! She teaches every Tuesday at 5:30pm and guest star teaches our Spicy classes. Some cool things about Gina: she’s an immigration lawyer, she teaches trauma informed yoga in the prison system, and has some of the best seasonally celebratory clothes (like her “Pumpkin Spice Everything” shirt). Our schedule Tuesday includes 6:30am Mild with Soren, 5:30pm Medium with Gina, and 6:45pm Medium with Christa (subbing).

BUILDING GOOD HABITS. We all have a tendency to be really ambitious with the changes we want to make with our health which often results in never starting to make any at all. Abandoning the all-or-nothing attitude is a great start👏🏽 Starting with 5-10 minutes of mindful breathing in the morning with a bit of stretching might be were you start + build from there. It doesn’t need to be a restrictive diet, or pledging to do yoga + meditation for an hour every day. Start Slow……Small changes are more likely to lead to consistency. Extremes are easy + there’s no longevity to it👀

As someone who ’s veered towards extremes most of my life I can confirm this 🤭😬 I’ve caused myself SO much pain through unsustainable habits which easily evolve into addictions. abandoning the all or nothing mentality has been the most positive thing I’ve done for my mental health. And it’s something I’m constantly working on because BALANCE is hard yo! So be kind to yourself, write your goals down and take it bit by bit + build from there. 〰️

It doesn’t need to  be a restrictive diet, or pledging to do yoga + meditation for an hour every day.  Start Slow……Small changes are more likely to lead to consistency. Extremes are easy + there’s no longevity to it👀

As someone who ’s veered towards extremes most of my life I can confirm this 🤭😬 I’ve caused myself SO much pain through unsustainable habits which easily evolve into addictions. abandoning the all or nothing mentality has been the most positive thing I’ve done for my mental health. And it’s something I’m constantly working on because BALANCE is hard yo! So be kind to yourself, write your goals down and take it bit by bit + build from there. 〰️

MAKING PRIORITIES ✨ I’ve talked about the importance of routine in the mornings many a time as something that grounds and sets me up for my day - most of which finish around 11pm. Today I stepped back on my yoga mat for the first time in what felt like ages, something which I have been wanting to re-introduce for a long time but simply haven’t had the spare hour to do so. Despite the current inflexibility of my limbs and having to change mats mid class due to slipping and sliding all over the place - I was reminded just why I began yoga in the first place all those years ago. ⁣

I truly believe that incorporating a slower paced movement into all our routines is so important in this fast-paced world in which we live. Prioritising it over other things can be hard, but picture the benefits long term and it may become an easier transition. ⁣

Whether it’s the pile of washing beckoning you on the laundry bench. Whether it’s the mountain of emails needing attention in your inbox. Whether it’s the doing the food shopping to re-fill your empty fridge. Whatever it may be - know that it can wait another 20 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour so that you can put yourself first. ⁣

As for me, I’ve done all the downward dogs and stretched out my tight limbs, I’ve got a coffee in hand and can now do my washing, approach my emails and do my food shopping with comfort knowing that I have taken the time and prioritised something that serves myself from the core out. ⁣

#standingforwardfold เหมือนเป็นท่าที่ทุกคนคิดว่าเพื้นฐานไม่มีอะไรน่าสนใจ แต่สำหรับกิ๊บเป็นท่าที่สำคัญกับใจมากเลย
เดิมกิ๊บตัวแข็งมาก ไม่เคยพับตัวได้ ปวดเมื่อยง่าย มี office syndrome ขนาดต้องไปกายภาพ เลยรู้สึกว่าต้องทำอะไรกับร่างกายแล้วก่อนที่จะแย่ไปกว่านี้ เลยเริ่มมาโยคะเพราะท่านี้แหละ

ตอนนี้ท่านี้กลายเป็นตัววัด progress ของตัวเอง จากที่ตัวแข็งไม่เคยพับตัวได้ สามเดือนหลังก็พับถึงพื้น เรียนมาครบ 1 ปีตอนนี้ fold ได้ลึกชัดขึ้น
เพราะฉะนั้นท่าง่ายๆที่คนอื่นทำได้ชิวๆนี่แหละ เลยเป็นท่าที่สำคัญ และเป็นเครื่องหมายถึงความพยายามของกิ๊บเหมือนเป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่บอกว่าร่างกายเราแข็งแรง และยืดหยุ่นขึ้น // จิตใจเราแข็งแรงขึ้นเพราะไม่ยอมแพ้กับความเหนื่อยลำบาก // สติเราดีขึ้น ที่รับรู้ตัวเองตลอดเวลาที่ฝึก

Post yoga practice 1 year apart 😌 เล่นโยคะมาครบ 1 ปีแล้ว รู้สึกตัวเองหุ่นเปลี่ยนไปเยอะมากค่ะ อาจจะดูไม่ต่างมาก แต่จริงๆกิ๊บน้ำหนักลดจาก 58 ลงมาเหลือ 54.5 kg เปอร์เซนต์ไขมันของร่างกายจาก 28 เหลือ 25.5% เลยนะ
จริงๆจะบอกว่าการออกกำลังกายช่วยทั้งหมดก็ไม่ได้ เพราะช่วงครึ่งปีหลังกิ๊บคุมอาหารด้วยค่ะ พยายามทานผักผลไม้ และลดของมันๆลง แต่การเล่นโยคะทำให้ตั้งใจลดมากขึ้น และมีกล้ามเพิ่มขึ้นด้วยแหละ

If our practice continues to focus on the external we will ultimately be left unsatisfied. There will be someone to blame for our unfulfilled feelings or even the practice itself. Tools for the internal quest will always be limited, even our teachers can’t heal our wounds, for they can only point us in the right direction, but if our awareness rests in the infinite, beauty, grace and wonder will have no choice but to unfold. That doesn’t mean it will be easy. There will be a number of obstacles to deal with. However if we trust the inner process and dig in with tenacity and focus what we will find in quiet moments is a truth only our hearts can hold. It goes beyond this reality; however, we must go through the density and confusion we often find here and now. It seems part of the path to ultimate self discovery. I’m not saying I am there yet, but when I experience even the slightest glimpse of what I am opening up to, the doubts seem to melt away. 🧘🏽‍♀️

This week I have been teaching a student/come friend 💛 daily privates and only a few days in it feels like a dream.

You don’t have to know me long to know I love planning, and so creating a plan of how we would progress over the week has felt so fun. Each day we have added onto what we patterned the day before. Sometimes repeating, sometimes moving on a little, sometimes realising we aren’t quite there yet, or we can’t actually fit everything in, and so stripping things back. It’s been an ebb and flow of strength and rest. An idea I learnt from @patrickbeach and @carlingnicole .
What I have learnt is you need rest to facilitate growth. Rest, and realising when you need it, is part of what restores you enough to do the hard stuff. And so gain strength.
Not just on our mats, but off them too.

Сегодня, наблюдая за тем, как Группа работает руками в позах стоя, у меня родилась идея 💡 поэкспериментировать после занятия с кирпичами, с целью улучшения работы рук. Дело в том, что ноги у нас, априори, работают хорошо, так как они имеют опору, то есть несут элемент земли-сильные, стойкие. Руки, напротив, то и дело теряются из нашего поля ощущения и внимания, в следствии чего не включаются в практику и являются дополнительной обузой телу. Так вот, идея была в том, что бы заземлить руки, дать им опору и сделать осознанными. В моем варианте я могла поработать с пальцами рук, кожей ладоней и не зажимать плечевые суставы. Теперь о плюсах и минусах. ➕То, что руки в зоне повышенного внимания и контроля это факт. Руки эффективно работают на все 💯. Рельеф вам обеспечен 😉. Так же после снятия кирпичей кармендрии (конечности), кажутся невесомыми, они приходят к своему элементу-воздуху.
➖Но есть минусы. Это то, что всё же руки устают и мышцам начинают помогать суставы. Что не есть хорошо, особенно для людей с проблемными суставами. Думаю, не стоит делать новичкам и людям с повышенным давлением, нагрузка получилась выше средней. Немного трясло после практики. В общем, показалось тяжеловато. Хотя, возможно, это мой ослабленный организм, после болезни. P.S. Записала как надевала кирпичи 😁, точнее втискиваться в них 🤣самостоятельно. У меня это, всё же, получилось. Лучше, честно, это бы сделал ассистент.

Сегодня, наблюдая за тем, как Группа работает руками в позах стоя, у меня родилась идея 💡 поэкспериментировать после занятия с кирпичами, с целью улучшения работы рук. Дело в том, что ноги у нас, априори, работают хорошо, так как они имеют опору, то есть несут элемент земли-сильные, стойкие. Руки, напротив,  то и дело теряются из нашего поля ощущения и внимания, в следствии чего не включаются в практику и являются дополнительной обузой телу. Так вот,  идея была в том, что бы заземлить руки, дать им опору и сделать осознанными.
