This dreamy night under the Milky Way was captured by @tomashavel. One of these two shots was taken on a phone 🤯 can you guess which one?

Travel photographers can often face challenging, even dangerous situations that might limit the amount of equipment they can carry with them, and so many are thrilled by the advances in mobile phone camera technology that allow for easier mobility in certain situations.

150 years ago, tourists came to Lake Bled in north-west Slovenia for its natural healing qualities. Here, many urban dwellers found relief from the stresses, discomfort, chemicals and pollution of their rapidly industrialising environments, and were able to heal their physical complications with the pristine nature. But it wasn’t just the landscape itself that brought them.
☆
Swiss healer Arnold Rikli was the founder of the naturopathic and hydropathic healing regimen they came to Bled for. His regimen was a form of alternative medicine that relied on the four elements of nature – sun, water, air and earth – for treating illness.

Peaceful Oman produces the world’s finest – and most expensive – frankincense, a substance ancient Egyptians called the ‘Sweat of the Gods’. Used for millennia as a perfume and cure-all plant medicine, frankincense was once prized more than gold. Today, frankincense remains an integral part of Omani culture, but it may soon disappear. The language of the Pontic Greeks – ethnic Greeks who settled on the coast of the Turkish Black Sea – evolved completely differently to the language in their homeland. Today, around 500,000 Pontics live in Greece – around 5% of the total population. But the reason for this has a tragic history behind it. Visit the link in our bio to read their story.

This week we kicked off a brand-new series called Unearthed that highlights newly discovered archaeological sites and hidden wonders. 🌍 In our first story, we focus on an Italian restaurant in Lecce, Italy that has finally opened after a 19-year delay. Back when the owner of Quo Vadis broke ground, he discovered an ancient world dating back to 5BC. ⚰️ Hit the link in our bio for the full story. ———————————————————————————

Why do the French love to say no? ‘Non’ is the default answer to most questions and requests, but that doesn’t mean the French are a fundamentally negative people. A ‘oui’ [yes] is often hiding in the context of what is being said. As French comedian Olivier Giraud explains: “Answering ‘non’ gives you the option to say ‘oui’ [yes] later; [it’s] the opposite when you say ‘oui’, you can no longer say ‘non’! We must not forget that the French are a people of protest, and a protest always starts with a ‘non’.” 🚫 Hit the link in our bio to learn more on why the #French are obsessed with no.

In the city of Vila Velha on Brazil’s south-east coast, this 17th Century convent sits on a high mountain overlooking the entire city with a clear view of the surrounding beaches. @Shandra.Furtado shared this beautiful film shot of her hometown with us, adding, “There are a bunch of monkeys that hang out up there and the guards take care of them.” 🐒🐒🐒

In Norway, mountains are an essential part of what makes the land so unique, with some being the highest in all of Europe. This, paired with the country’s welcoming culture, attracts hikers from around the world. But if you want to truly experience these mountains, you must put your ego aside. Here, Fjellvettreglene is the ‘mountain code’ and it teaches locals that nature doesn’t care about egos. The code encourages people to have a safe and respectful relationship with nature. 📷 @tomashavel .
